I was wondering if you could put some update on your baby. I haven't heard anything about her or him. I just knew that you were pregnat. One person said "Congragulations on your new baby girl." Just wondering about some stuff. I hope Abbyleigh is doing good. I am keeping you in prayers and thoughts.

Found this through a link:

am often asked to describe the experience of raising a child with a disability - to try to help people who have not shared that unique experience to understand it, to imagine how it would feel. It's like this......

When you're going to have a baby, it's like planning a fabulous vacation trip - to Italy. You buy a bunch of guide books and make your wonderful plans. The Coliseum. The Michelangelo David. The gondolas in Venice. You may learn some handy phrases in Italian. It's all very exciting.

After months of eager anticipation, the day finally arrives. You pack your bags and off you go. Several hours later, the plane lands. The stewardess comes in and says, "Welcome to Holland."

"Holland?!?" you say. "What do you mean Holland?? I signed up for Italy! I'm supposed to be in Italy. All my life I've dreamed of going to Italy."

But there's been a change in the flight plan. They've landed in Holland and there you must stay.

The important thing is that they haven't taken you to a horrible, disgusting, filthy place, full of pestilence, famine and disease. It's just a different place.

So you must go out and buy new guide books. And you must learn a whole new language. And you will meet a whole new group of people you would never have met.

It's just a different place. It's slower-paced than Italy, less flashy than Italy. But after you've been there for a while and you catch your breath, you look around.... and you begin to notice that Holland has windmills... .and Holland has tulips. Holland even has Rembrandts.

But everyone you know is busy coming and going from Italy... and they're all bragging about what a wonderful time they had there. And for the rest of your life, you will say "Yes, that's where I was supposed to go. That's what I had planned."

And the pain of that will never, ever, ever, ever go away... because the loss of that dream is a very very significant loss.

But... if you spend your life mourning the fact that you didn't get to Italy, you may never be free to enjoy the very special, the very lovely things ... about Holland.

I check in on Abby updates every once in a while and say a prayer even when their isn't a new update. I remember back to last spring how hard you were working to get Abby's transplant going. Then moving down to St. Louis, waiting all summer and getting that perfect heart.

What a difference one year can be! I pray that You have a wonderful summer to enjoy all the girls together, and all under one roof! What an amazing year you have had so far, and I know you appreciate each day.

Hi Ostlies!! WOW is the only thing I can come up with!! What an amazing trip and never, ever has there been a family more deserving. You do such a beautiful, descriptive job explaining everything, that I almost feel as if I were there with you all. It sounds like Abby's little blip in the radar was just that. Hopefully that lung will find its way back to normal over time. To see that she and Clare will be starting soccer and that they are enjoying dance just makes me smile all over. Thank you for your beautiful photos, update and for sharing your lives so fully and completely with everyone. I pray that I can have patience and trust the likes of yours. I love you all. How marvelous that your MAW trip finally happened and with such wonderful memories. I'm so glad you posted as we keep Abby and her family in our prayers regularly. What an awesome God we have and what an awesome little girl Abby is. We love the updates with positive reports and normal life stuff. What a concept, huh?

We will pray the pneumonia goes away quickly and her lungs improve. With Logan, his lungs are more of his ongoing issue than his special little ticker so we know how important it is to keep them healthy, happy and open!

Prayers for a perfect biopsy! SO glad to hear you guys are going to DW - be sure and fit in Sea World as well. We had SO much fun on our trip in October! E-mail or call me and I'll tell you some must do's. It is truly magical. I know I was more excited than Alex and Tom because neither of them had been there before. I think I was in tears 3/4 of the time just watching Alex see things for the first time. He was shaking the first time Minnie kissed him. SO cute!

I'm so excited that you will finally get to and meet the Princesses (along with all of the other amazing things there are to do and see at Disney!) Jerry and I were just talking about your trip yesterday and hoping you would be able to take it soon.
Hope all went well with the biopsy!

So happy to hear that Abby is doing better. I was down at the U of M today and I was very tempted to stop by, (even though I have never met you) Just to say hello and let you know I am praying for all of you. Dear Ostlie family, sorry to hear of yet another bump in the road. Know that we continually pray for Abby, her new heart, and all the members of your family. So tonight it will be back to stage one--pray for health and healing for Abby. Pray that the blood work comes back good, and pray that Abby will soon be back home with her sisters and Mom and Dad. We love you all very much and hope that all goes well in the next few days. Thanks for posting so that we can pray for the special needs Abby has. All our love and good wishes tonight and always. Happy New Year, Ostlies! Not a day goes by that I don't check the website for updates and the lack of them lately has made me smile that life has normalized at the Ostlie household. Your update this morning reminds me of the fragility of life and never to take Abby's good health for granted. I'm sad that she and you all are going through this bump in the road right now and will pray that it's just that; a bump in the road. God bless you all, Abby and her medical team and bring her to full health very, very soon. I love you all and will continue to pray.
