Dearest James,

Getting better after surgery is no fun at all. However, if you remain quiet for as long as the docotr's and of course, your parents teel you too....then let the good times roll!!!!

I understand that you can't laugh out loud quite yet bacause your tunnmy still hurts but this will pass and that's always a good thing to remember!

Do you have a "sqeeze pillow"? This will help you so much if you have to cough, or sneeze, or laugh out loud!!!!

You and your Mom and Dad can help you make one!!! You can decorate it yourself!!

If your Mom doesn't know how to make one, you can always ask Bambi! She will definately know how to make such a pillow!!!

That way it will be all yours!

I will be checking in on your site so that I can keep tract of what is happening with you!

All my love, Ger

I had no idea that James had such a difficult medical history. I'm glad I was able to learn more on a positive note with a successful hospital stay. So happy to hear he came home so quickly. I know how difficult waiting for surgery news & sleeping at a hospital can be. Lots of love & prayers your way!

Hi James, this is Ylla (the so called brat) we have met but I am sure you don't remember me. I live right down the street from Downtown Disney and have decided that the next time (december) you are in town I am going to get on the Tower of Terror with you or some other roller coaster, even if it makes me cry. I also NEED to tell you NOT to listen to anything COCO says, because she really is the Wicked Witch of the WEST, at night when she takes off her make-up, she is totally green under there. It really is amazing what plastic surgery can do now a days! See you in December little dude!

Hi James! Glad to hear your surgery is over - we're praying for you to feel better soon! Christopher wants me to type a few jokes for you to cheer you up while you're getting better:

Q. How can you tell if a school is haunted?

A. If it has school spirit

Q. Does it take longer to run from 1st base to 2nd base or from 2nd base to 3rd base?

A. From 2nd to 3rd, because there is a short stop in the middle.

Q. What room can you never enter?

A. A mushroom!

:)

HI! James,

This message comes from the great SW! We are so sorry that you have to have more surgery..that really sucks.

Of course, you will be in our thoughts and prayers as you and your body begin to heal all over again.

Steve and I hope that when you are able to travel that you will come to visit us and we will show you the Grand Canyon!

Ask your Mom and Dad to show you where we live on a map!

We are about 2500 miles from where you live. It may sound like a long way but when you are able to travel again we would love to see you!

We have a pool in our backyard and we also have a hamock where you and Steve can rest and tell stories to each!

Your Grandparents have come to our home for a visit and we had such a great time!

We will keep up on your recovery and we will continue to send messages to you on this website!

We send our love and prayers to you, your Mom and Dad.

Love, Ger and Steve

Good luck tomorrow morning, I will be thinking about you while I take my little Domino for a Cardio EKG. She's only a couple of years younger than you but WAAAAY smaller. She only weighs 3 lbs. (she's a Chihuahua). We have never met but your granparents went to my wedding in Guatemala and I've known your mother since she was a little brat causing trouble with my baby sister (who was also a little brat). You take care of yourself and hopefully I'll be able to meet you soon!

Hi guys! And a BIG HOOAH to our James...from Uncle Steve! We're really happy you are home again..it is always easier to get better when you are with your mom and dad in your own home isn't it? When uncle Steve was in first grade, I was really sick too..I got a huge infection in my sinuses..and I ended up in the hospital for a pretty long time..and had my tonsils removed after they stopped my infection. When I finally got back to school, I was chosen to play the Scarecrow in our school play..I was so skinny..I was perfect for the part! All I had to do while I was dangling in the air, was say: "If I only had a Brain" over and over. My parents were so proud! So you see? Something good CAN happen even after being sick! We love you James, and hope to see you soon..GET WELL BIG GUY! Aunt Julie and Uncle Steve..who is still looking for his Brain!

Hi James,
It sounds like you and your Mom and Dad have had quite a time! I'm so glad to hear you and your Dad and your Mom are all feeling better, and aare back together again at home.

You are very lucky to have such a good Mom and Dad, but I guess that's because you are so very special too. Please give them both a big kiss and hug for me.

Since your Mom is such a very good story teller, do you think you might also be a good story teller too? Perhaps your Mom could help you write down how you felt about what happened. You could tell what it was like to ride in an ambulance and the other interesting stuff. Then perhaps other kids could read it and learn about hospitals and doctors and they would be less scared since so many doctors are your friends. Your Mom was able to write some pretty funny stuff too, even when I know it was hard to be funny when she and your Dad were so worried about you - and I know you like to be funny too! Let me know if you write anything down, I would love to hear about it.

Love and stay well,

P.S. Drink plenty of water! (like your Bambi, I am a nurse so I know how important this is to do.)

A PRAYER FOR CHRISTMAS

God Give Us eyes this Christmas
To see the Christmas Star.
And give us ears to hear the song
of angels from afar

And, with our eyes and ears attuned
for a message from above,
Let "Christmas Angels" speak to us
of hope and faith and love

Hope to light our pathway
When the way ahead is dark,
Hope to sing through stormy days,
with the sweetness of the lark

Faith to trust in things unseen
and know beyond all seeing
That it is in our Fathers love
We live and have our being

And love to break down barriers
of color, race and creed,
Love to see and understand
and help all those in need.

Lord, bless those we love this Christmas Day,be they near or far away Bless those good friends who mean so much and those with whom we're out of touch. We bring them all to You in prayer, and ask You to keep them in Your care.

Please know that you are thought of, in a very special way, not just this beautiful season but every day.

What is this about wiping off Minnie's kisses? Did you know that when you wipe kisses, they don't come off...you are just rubbing them in deeper!!! It sounds like Disney was absolutely wonderful. We went on Caleb's wish trip, and it was magical.
Sorry you are having so much tummy trouble. I'm hoping that your medicines are helping to alleviate your discomfort. I know that you had to feel miserable and full as a tick.
You have a glorious Christmas, little man. We are keeping you and your family in our prayers.

Wow, you're right, check out those eyelashes in the cotton candy picture!!! Thanks for stopping by Kendrie's site and signing the guestbook --- always good to meet another Caringbridge family; even better when you're military, too! :) I hope James is over his cough/cold/crud thing that he has ... and that the steroids are relatively kind to him. We start a five-day pulse tomorrow, but overall they are not so bad. Five days... about the time the Big Eat and Scream begins, it ends. Now, if you want to talk about the 32 days straight during induction period, well, that's a WHOLE 'nother story!!
Have a great holiday weekend,

A dork you are not...don't even suggest such a thing to yourself. You are an absolutely wonderful Mommy, who is understandably shell shocked given your experiences. Hello Sweet Baby James,
It’s been a long time since we have seen you but it sounds like you have been busy. Taylor is turning 4 on August 10th. She just finished her 1st year of Ballet, Tap, Gymnastics and Baton. She was a ducky in the annual dance recital. This year’s theme was Toy Story. If you’ve seen the movie, Taylor was the rubber ducky that Andy plays with in the bathtub at the beginning of the movie. She danced to Ernie from Sesame Street singing “Rubber Ducky, You’re the One for Me”! Since the recital we’ve been spending a lot of time at the beach and pool. If you’re feeling up to it Taylor is having her Birthday party at Winterthur’s Enchanted Woods (Wilmington, DE) on Aug. 14th from noon – 2pm. Here’s a link to see what they’re all about. http://www.winterthur.org/for_families/enchanted_woods.asp
We would be happy to email you directions if you’re up for the drive.
Good luck with everything and we hope to hear good things from you again soon.
Miss & Love you,

Have Mommy post a picture with your new casts, of course we won't be able to see the one leg because of the camouflage !!,but we'll see the stars and stripes. Wow, I'll bet all of the other kids are jealous of your nifty casts. Anyway, keep on practicing with the football, I'm sure that the Redskins could use your help. Love and Hugs Uncle David

Hello James, and Family:
My name is Jenna, and I came across James's website. James is truly one remarable boy. Just like myself, he has had many challenges, and illnesses that he has had to overcome, or work around, and it sounds like to me, that he is doing a very good job at it. James, your party sounds like it was one awesome party, and I sure hope that you had lots of fun, and a great time, because after all that you have been through, you sure deserve to have many great times, and lots of fun in your life. I love visit other kids, teens, and adults websites, and signing their guestbooks. I also love meeting, and making new friends, especially friends who have a caringbridge site, and also those that don't. This caringbridge network is really nice, and it has helped me out alot. I will come by again to see how James is doing.
James, you are in my thoughts and prayers.
Keep Fighting, Keep Smiling, and Keep being the Brave, and strong Fire Fighter that you are!
Your new friend Jenna.

James,
Hello there birthday boy! My, how handsome you are.
I really like Chip and Dale, too. We saw them on Caleb's Make-a-Wish trip. They are awesome. I just wish I could understand them when they talk. I guess I don't know "chipmunk".
I hope you are feeling better. Mommy said that you had to go to the ER last week. It's no fun, but sometimes that where we have to go, huh?
Take care little man, and I'll check in on you soon.
