"Gratitude unlocks the fullness of life. It turns what we have into enough, and more. It turns denial into acceptance, chaos to order, confusion to clarity. It can turn a meal into a feast, a house into a home, a stranger into a friend. Gratitude makes sense of our past, brings peace for today, and creates a vision for tomorrow." With that being said, I am Thankful to have experienced my past, blessed to experience my present, & giving thanks in advance for my future! Thanksgiving Day brings to mind the blessings in our lives that usually go unnoticed: a home that surrounds us with comfort and protection; delicious food, for pleasure in both eating and sharing; clothes to snuggle up in, books and good entertainment to expand our minds; and freedom to worship our God. Most of all we are thankful for our family and friends, those treasured people who make our lives extra special. You are part of that cherished group. On Thanksgiving, (and every day) we appreciate you. Wishing everyone a Safe, Happy, & Blessed Thanksgiving Holiday!

Dearest Donna,

I will pray for dear little Christina, and for her family. Too much for one little one and her loved ones to bear...only Jesus understands.

As for your family, they will be in my prayers as well. I am so glad to know what to pray for. Your update was very helpful in that way. I just wish there weren't so very many, huge needs for you to deal with ALL THE TIME.

I so wish you were not in pain as you try to take care of your family. I will pray for your health, Donna. I hope you can go back to school, fulfill some personal dreams and help your family in the process.

None of us has the right to say what or how you should be doing anything! That is for you and Rod to decide, with God as your guide; and knowing you and Rod, I know that I know that you have done the very best you could for your family. To be reunited in the right place, with everyone's specific needs miraculously met- this is the major transitional miracle I will ask for your family in 2011!

Jesus Himself is praying for your faith not to fail, and I know that it won't. As hard as it has been, you have made it too far and seen to much to give up now. You will continue the race, keep fighting the good fight, and your family has a future beyond compare in His kingdom! Amen!

Much love to you and yours, dear sister in the Lord. Thank you so much for your faithful prayers for us and so many. Jesus will not forget the love you have shown to so many of His children.

Dearest Donna,

I just checked to see the last time I signed the guestbook, and I am ashamed of myself! I knew it had been a LONG time since I kept in touch, but I had no idea how long. I have been in la-la land personally. It is hard to describe what that means, but suffice it to say that I can't keep up with the demands of life anymore. And my demands aren't half as much as yours are!!! (BTW, the boys are all doing very well, really, it's just my own personal struggle and all it takes to help everyone else keep doing well!).

I really have not forgotten you and your incredible family! How could I? I will say some prayers for your family today, especially Kris and Tim. I hope you can all be together in one place this Thanksgiving and for some of this season you love so much.

Take care of yourself. I am praying for you, too! Please don't push too hard toward your goals. We care more about who you are than what you accomplish. But, I DO understand, really understand, the need to have something to work towards personally. I'm doing the same.

I love you even if I don't show it very well these days.

Sincerely,
Donna

It's Christmas, hearts reach out and memories come alive in the warmth of love. Once again, it's Christmas - that delightful time of year when hearts are filled with gratitude and homes are bright with cheer. When everyone's remembering good friends and loved ones too - so naturally, the warmest thoughts and wishes go to you. May your home be filled with happiness, your hearts with love, and your days with joy - at Christmas and always! Friendship is a promise strengthened by each smile, each teardrop, and each treasure of life that’s shared. We share so much as friends — thanks for being a very special part of our lives. Merry Christmas.

The things that matter most of all are often close at hand — A touch, a hug, a gentle look that says, “I understand.” The smile that inspires us, the words that let us know the way our hearts are leading is the way that we should go — These right-before-us, simple things may seem to be so small, but they’re what life is made of, and they matter most of all. May you find time this Thanksgiving to enjoy the things you hold closest to your heart. Thoughts of you at Thanksgiving are also heartfelt prayers that you and your family be blessed with much happiness, and that all of you will always know how very special you are.

Hi Donna,
Just checking in and noticing you are having a rough month. I had my gallbladder out at age 19 and I have also had pancreatitis before---which is INCREDIBLY painful, as I am sure you know by now. My gosh. I think Tim's birthday is coming up if I remember right... Mine is the 18th so I always remembered that his was somewhere around mine. Hope you are well enough to enjoy all that life has to offer in the next few weeks, but also take the time to listen to your body (I knwo from experience with mito that not listening to it has done me no favors).

Hope things get better for you.

Hi there Donna,
So sorry to hear your gall bladder wants out, but the bright side is that the docs found something to fix and know they can make you feel better. It's so frustrating that docs start blaming every symptom on mito, it makes me wonder if any docs would've checked your GB a while ago if they didn't have a nice chronic illness to pin your troubles to, sheesh! (You know all about my run-ins with "it's a mito crash, go home and sleep it off," UGH!)

Take Care,
Heidi

I am sorry that you are going through this. Where did I lay that magic wand?? I just went through (I think) a mito crash this past weekend. I pushed too hard for Halloween and suddenly my right side was so burning achingly tired I couldn't use it. Still have lingering issues but much better. I'll take your example now and set some limits. I pray you feel better soon!

I am so proud of you for taking the time you need to take care of you. Sometimes God smacks us in the back of the head when we don't pay attention to him tapping on our shoulder. I'm sorry God had to get rough with you though :). Take the time you need. You will be surprised at how much better you will feel just knowing you have decided to let go of things a bit. Out of the PICU is awewome. Glad they put him in isolation. That is the kind of forethought that is needed in hospitals. Surely you and Rod asked for it. I can't imagine them coming up with that all on their own =). I am so glad you are getting that trip to Florida and that you have so many mama's taking care of things. Now, I am praising God that you can see His hand in all the unbelievable stuff Tim and your family have gone through so far. Hi friend.....You have an amazing voice and gift for communicating your heart - thank you. You and Rod and all your kids are in the hardest of places, and being wiped out and empty is totally understandable. Although you and Rod may not feel very strong - that is when I see your strength the most. My prayer is for Tim's well-being and recovery, and for your family to feel God's loving arms around you all.

I know nothing other than progress can make you feel anything different right now. If you need to talk to someone who has been there - please feel free to call me. Even if I all I can do is cry and pray with you. I am SO SORRY that you're having to go through this. Here is today's FULL scripture. xoxoxox

Matthew 5
The Beatitudes
1 Now when he saw the crowds, he went up on a mountainside and sat down. His disciples came to him, 2 and he began to teach them saying:
3 "Blessed are the poor in spirit,
for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
4 Blessed are those who mourn,
for they will be comforted.
5Blessed are the meek,
for they will inherit the earth.
6 Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness,
for they will be filled.
7 Blessed are the merciful,
for they will be shown mercy.
8 Blessed are the pure in heart,
for they will see God.
9 Blessed are the peacemakers,
for they will be called sons of God.
10 Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness,
for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

11 "Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me. 12 Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you.

Donna, been meaning to respond to the sweet email you sent, but things have been hectic here....so much going on with so many sick children in our church. I am so happy you are able to find some time to blog here and keep us updated. We are continuing to pray for Timmy and all of you. Please know that You guys are all so special to us and we share in your joy and hurt during your hurting times. So glad Tim is able to respond at moments and I am thankful that you guys are such a silly family so that you can find moments of laughter even in the tough times. I love you all and pray you see some changes soon...............

I am so glad to hear that despite the stress and uncertainty of all that is going that there are still moments when you can laugh. I would have been cracking up at both of those moments too! Of course, many say that I have the humor of an 8 year old boy so it doesn't take much to make me laugh. I am so glad that all the plans are ready for your trip. Keep reminding Tim so he knows what he is working towards. I continue to pray, non-stop for God's healing of Tim and I will pray for all of the kids, you and Rod. Hang in there.

It’s been a while since I have signed your guestbook but I still check in all the time!

God promises...
For your needs, you’ll receive His provision.
For your pressures, you’ll receive His peace.
For your wondering, you’ll receive His wisdom.
For your worries, you’ll receive His rest.

There is nothing more powerful than a faith-filled prayer—
it has the grace to comfort the soul and the strength to move a mountain. I’m praying for you today, trusting God in every way to be everything you need. Praying God blesses you with what only He can give.

God cares, cares right down to the last detail. James 5:11

Hey Donna! It's your stalker in Kentucky. I came by to check on our boy and I see that he is trying to throw a curve ball with the C. Diff. Well, I'm awfully good at the praying thing, so I think I'll just have to catch his curve ball and throw it out the window. With prayers and patience he'll get better and we will all be here to cheer him along the way. I'll be praying that this new issue is resolved quickly.

Donna,
Thank you for the lovely email note - you guys are so loved, and we are all pulling for complete healing! I think about you guys all the time during the day, and wanted to let you know that I LOVE the turtles!!! So cute!
Praying, and looking forward to that next milestone! Keep on resting Tim - your body was ravaged and we get glimpses of your spunk, but don't over do it :) We moms aren't patient when it comes to wanting you to hurry up and get better, but we know God works in HIS time to heal you. So fear not Tim!
Sending you super hugs!

Wow this journal entry had me silently cheering and uplifting a thank you to the Lord above. And to continue this small positive journal entry. I think it's great how many people are cheering Tim on with the Disney thoughts. I guess we all want to see you on that ride. I'm curious as to what ride it is? Tell Tim to keep up the good work of slowly making headway. I'm finally getting a chance to write in the guestbook, but your page is the first place I go to in the morning. Things need to improve because I'm going to our summer place and I won't have access to a computer every day and will be thinking of you all and going on the prayer walk through the woods by my summer church and will say a word or two for Tim. God and his angels continue to work small miracles for you and your family.

Donna,
How high is his ammonia? When I was inpatient in January through April, my ammonia was running anywhere from 60-130. I am guessing from your post that his are even higher. I have a bunch of emails from various metabolic doctors across the country about the significance of high ammonia levels. Are they assuming it is from his liver dysfunction or from mito issues acting up? Have they treated with lactulose yet? Arginine can also bring down ammonia levels if the ammonia is high for certain reasons....apparently it won't help with all of the reasons it can be elevated. One of the mito doctors I consulted said ammonia isn't a danger unless it rises to above 500 and it is not the ammonia itself that causes the problems, but the secondary amino acid elevations that occur as a result of the high ammonia. If you are at Tufts, I am sure Dr K can guide you further on this, but if you need more info., just send me an email and I will give you more of a summary of what they have emailed to me about it.

Wish there was more I could do, but I am praying for you guys and thinking of Tim. I have never been as sick as he is and have never been sedated on a vent, but could you bring in his favorite music or audiotapes, CD's of you guys talking to him or saying encouraging words so when you are too tired to talk to him or his siblings can't make it up to visit, he can still hear their voices (I know he is unconscious, but I have also heard how beneficial talking to people in that sleep-like state can be). Just a thought.

Of course the circle of love is MUCH bigger than what is reflected here but hopefully these words are an encouragement and blessing to all of you.
Know that I'm here praying!
Romans 8:15-18 For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father. The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God: And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together. For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.

What It Means to Be an American

To believe in the promise of a better tomorrow, and stand united in our efforts
to give a peaceful nation to our children...
To honor each other's differences and cherish the richness of our history, even as it continues to unfold from sea to shining sea...
To love deeply our friends and family, day by day, and never take for granted
the privilege of calling ourselves American. America — we are more than a people, we are a family.

Happy 4th of July

Too funny Donna! I remember last 4th of July we were bundled up at St. Ann's parking lot watching the Kennebunkport fireworks in our van (I think it was in the 60's there today).....whereas here - we had sunny weather with horrendous temperatures of 117 degrees in our backyard yesterday! AND they canceled the local fireworks (usually we can see them from our yard) - so we'll be watching on TV :). Bonnie suffers with the heat (so do I) so we've cranked the air conditioning.....Anyway, we love you guys and continue to pray for all of you!

Donna,
I am so sorry things have been so hard recently. I had manganese toxicity in the basal ganglia show up on an MRI years ago. They also did a blood level that came back high at the time. I believe they reduced the manganese in my TPN and repeated the blood levels and MRI 6 mths later and the MRI actually changed and came back normal, as did the blood level all those months later. I would definitely talk to Reid, etc. about all of that if you haven't done so already. I also believe Dr Korson reviewed the MRI films with a doctor at Tufts several years ago so he may be familiar with it too (if he remembers that situation).

Many hugs to you guys.

Just read the last few updates (having health drama here too) and wanted to let you know that we continue to pray for all of you. It is sooo hard - I wish I could think of a way to make things better. I know this - God promised he'll always stay in the trenches with you!!
I'm praying for extra strength and comfort for both you and Rod, and for the kids too!

I will be saying lots of prayers for all of you. I think I may have to work on a good way to give you examples of what boring is though :)

Okay, so maybe being told that NOTHING is going on at your house would be very concerning. I just always pray you get a chance to be bored! At least things aren't all bad right now. Maybe with the summer weather you guys can catch a bit of a break. You know that I will be checking back in soon to see how things are. You remain in my prayers.

God bless America and keep us safe and free — Safe from all our enemies, wherever they may be... Teach us to walk humbly and closer in Thy ways, Give us faith and courage and put purpose in our days, Make each one of us aware that each must do his part, For in the individual is where peace must have its start — For a better world to live in where are all safe and free Must start with faith and hope and love deep in the heart of me. ~ HELEN STEINER RICE ~

The beauty of a life well-lived becomes a legacy that stays behind and warms the heart with every memory. Our family is thinking of you on Memorial Day wishing you peace and happiness today and always.

There are times when only a Mother's love
Can understand our tears,
Can soothe our disappoints
And calm all of our fears.
There are times when only a Mother's love
Can share the joy we feel
When something we've dreamed about
Quite suddenly is real.
There are times when only a Mother's faith
Can help us on life's way
And inspire in us the confidence
We need from day to day.
For a Mother's heart and a Mother's faith
And a Mother's steadfast love
Were fashioned by the Angels
And sent from God above.

First, a very happy belated happy birthday, Lianna.

Thinking of you throughout the National Day of Prayer. Prayer is so simple. It is like quietly opening a door and slipping into the very presence of God. There, in the stillness, to listen for His voice, perhaps in petition or only to listen, it matters not. Just to be there,
in His presence, is prayer.

Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer. Romans 12:12 (NIV)

Bless, O God, all who struggle with health concerns. Empower them with hope for each and every day. Provide them with loving and tender care, laughter, and the support of love. Grant them comfort when they are in pain, and your blessing when all else seems hopeless, that in their fight with illness they may continue to praise you and glorify your name. Amen. May you find comfort in this prayer today.

Happy Belated Birthday, Lianna!!! Praying for that misbehaving heart of yours. You're "real" heart, the one that loves Jesus and will last forever, is so beautiful. God bless you!

I am so happy you are all done with the extra worry and stress of unreliable and downright harmful "help." As my Dad used to say, "With friends like that, who needs enemies?"

Loved that 2nd quote you shared, especially! ;-) Thanks!

Praying for you,
Donna

Dearest Donna,

Happy Belated Easter, my friend.

I'm so sorry Lianna is struggling so much with cardiac issues! I can't imagine how scary it is for her and for you. Please let her know she is in my prayers.

And I pray Tim's infection will clear up completely. My heart aches for you watching his decline.

You sure have a way of always counting your blessings, no matter what. It is amazing.

And, speaking of blessings, I am SO HAPPY that you and Rod had some time together for once!!! Thank you, J., from all of us who love the Thorells (and the Red Sox! :)!!!

God bless and keep you, Donna, as you keep fighting the good fight.

Love,

Hi Donna,
It was great to read your update (in the sense that it is always good to hear from your cyber-voice). I'm so sorry for all the trials you have to endure, but I see your God-given strength through it all. I saw a picture of Bonnie from when she was still walking, and I "lost" it (bawled all the way home from work). I realized I hadn't looked at photos from before her physical decline in many years, and I'd forgotten what it was like when she could get up and walk around (and drive, etc.). It is not easy.....you are such a good mom!

Love,
Lyn

May spring bring new joy, more answers, and lots of happy times to your family! And, may you get more help, not less despite what appears to be happening with the PCA's right now. If anybody needs it, you do!

Thank you for your prayers and for including us in your list. Blessings to Malissa and baby, to Bonnie, and to all you requested prayer for.

Love you!

Dearest Donna and family,

My heart breaks with the news that Lianna is suffering so much and in the hospital so unexpectantly. I tell the Lord "It is too much, just too much..." and ask Him, "Why?" on your behalf.

But, as surely as I don't understand, I know He is faithful and has not, nor ever will, forget His precious Thorells. Now I know why he put sweet Lianna on my heart just yesterday or the day before when I was thinking of you all. Please let her know that the Hendersons are praying for her comfort and strength.

Continuing to pray for Tim, too, and each of you.

Psalm 18:1-19 "I love you, O Lord, my strength. The Lord is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer; my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge. He is my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.

I call to the Lord, who is worthy of praise, and I am saved from my enemies.

The cords of death entangled me; the torrents of destruction overwhelmed me.

The cords of the grave coiled around me; the snares of death confronted me.

In my distress I called to the Lord; I cried to my God for help. From his temple he heard my voice; my cry came before him, into his ears...

He reached down from on high and took hold of me; He drew me out of deep waters. He rescued me from my powerful enemy, from my foes, who were too strong for me.

They confronted me in the day of my disaster, but the Lord was my support.

He brought me out into a spacious place; He rescued me because He delighted in me."

We know our heavenly Father delights in in precious daughter, Lianna. May she know that will all heart, too.

With love and tears,
Donna and family

One of my favorites poems kept going through my head this morning as I prayed for you. It is called, "Thy Way is Perfect," by Amy Carmichael. I send it to you now hoping it comforts your heart as it often did hers, and mine:

"Long is the way, and very steep the slope;
Strengthen me once again, O God of Hope.
Far, very far, the summit doth appear;
But Thou art near, my God, but Thou art near.
And Thou wilt give me with my daily food,
Powers of endurance, courage, fortitude.
Thy way is perfect; only let that way
Be clear before my feet from day to day.
Thou art my Portion, saith my soul to Thee,
Oh, what a Portion is my God to me!"

My love and prayers for you continue!

Just stopping by to check in on you and to say hello, this Valentine's Day. Though I haven't said "Hi, there," in ever so long don’t think for a minute that anything's wrong — I keep pretty busy with things I must do, but I think of you often —believe me, I do.

Valentine treasures are people who have often crossed your mind, family, friends and others, too, who in your life have shined the warmth of love or a spark of light that makes you remember them; no matter how long since you’ve actually met, each one is a luminous gem who gleams and glows in your memory, bringing special pleasures, and that’s why this Valentine comes to you: You’re one of those sparkling treasures!

We hear you Donna! I can't imagine -- yet I can imagine ;).......Try to escape now and then to the memories in your mind of times when you felt relaxed and nourished (mentally, physically, and spiritually). At least that's what I try to do when things are crazy bad. I think you and Rod would love the book Bonnie and I are reading (very short segments - it'll take us another couple of months to get through it) entitled, "The Gospel According To Job" by Mike Mason.
We are in the middle of a rain storm (pretty rare here) and Bonnie has some kind of terrible rash - no idea what it is or what it's due to. So, I was talking with Dave and Bon and we thought there should be a book called "Mito World".....what do you guys think? It'd kind of like living in an alternate world when you have Mito (especially when it is so hard to get medical care).
All this rambling to let you know we love you guys and we're praying for all of you!

Checking in on my dear friends, the Thorells...the friends I have never met in person, but the Lord has knitted my heart to in such a special way... Praise Him! Yes! He IS good. THIS life can be bad, so very, very bad, but HE is good. It is only His Spirit living inside of us that allows us to see beyond the present circumstances and rejoice in the Truth. Blessed are those who mourn for they shall be comforted...

May He continue to give you faith and strength to rejoice in the midst of your tears and the many trials you face everyday. May the doctors, nurses, relatives, friends, and everyone watching see Jesus and long for the faith you have in Him. You are constant source of inspiration to me Donna, Rod and family. Thank you. You are always in my heart and prayers.

"One of the greatest promises of God is that we don't have to face our fears alone. He is always with us; never will He forsake us (Hebrews 13:5). In fact, when we truly experience His love, fear is cast away (1 John 4:18). Why? Love is what must be present for trust to flourish."

God will:
Help you in trouble ~ Psalms 46:1-2
Provide your needs and give you peace ~ Philippians 4:6-7
Eliminate fear ~ Leviticus 26:6
Give boldness ~ Proverbs 28:1

Since we truly experience His love, we can walk boldly, with a sense of confidence to God and let Him handle all the anxieties that trouble us.

Praying that your family will remain steadfast in Faith and that you will not give in to Fear. Nothing can rob you of joy, confidence, optimism and opportunities more quickly than a spirit of fear.

I have been praying for you. I am so glad the Lord has provided people to support you through all the insanity you suffer on a daily basis. Ok, that didn't come out right at all...I didn't mean to say you were insane! Although, if you were by now certainly we would all understand!!!

The grace of God is amazing in you, my friend! I know He is leading many, many people into knowing Him through you and your family. That is my prayer, along with prayers for healing, rest, help, peace... miracles all around! Hope you are feeling better!!!

Praying for Bonnie, Malissa and others as well.

Hi Donna,

I found this today just for you and others who need to be reminded of how loving the God of all creation is. If you read and reread Psalm 91, you will discover that in Him we have a permanent abode and residence, and that all of the comfort, security, and affection which the human heart craves is found in Him.
~~"He that dwells in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty."~~ Psalm 91:1. He is carrying you in His great big arms...tucked very closely. Hold on.

With love and prayers, Joanne

We huddle by the fire on this bitter cold night,
Enjoying hot cocoa by the warm fire light.

While the smells of a feast fill this rickety old shack,
Icy winds whistle as they dance through the cracks.
Surrounded with blankets, sweet carols we sing,
Happily awaiting what this Christmas will bring.

You won't find any presents 'neath our skimpy tree.
Ornaments are hand-made and so is our wreath.
Under limp mistletoe, mom gives dad a kiss,

Atmosphere of joy and love

Merry Christmas to all of you.
Everyone here at our house is thinking of you.
Remember Christ loves you, no matter your worth.
Revel in the illuminating joy of His birth.
Your love is the only gift He'll ever ask.

Celebrate His life and in His light you'll bask.
Holiday giving and the spread of good cheer,
Really is something we could keep up all year.
Imagine a world where it was Christmas each day,
Sounds hard to do, but it could be that way.
This is our Christmas wish for all of you tonight--
May His warmth surround you like a blanket of light.
All your wishes be granted with His blessings of love,
Sent special delivery from the Angels above.

Louisville, Ky USA - Thursday, November 27, 2008 2:40 PM CST
It's the time of year when we're reminded to give thanks.
Instead of waiting until next year to be reminded,
Let's make every day one of thanksgiving;
After all, each day is a unique gift.
So, give a hug for no reason;
Say I love you, just because;
Share a smile with a stranger;
Take the time to count your blessings;
Don't take anything or anyone for granted;
And end each day with no regrets.
Thank you, my friends and family,
For sharing, caring, laughing and crying with me.
I'm truly blessed to have each and every one of you in my life
And I am thankful you have allowed me
To be a part of yours.
May you and yours have a safe and memorable Thanksgiving.

Hi Auntie, I asked Joshie about how everyone was doing so he gave me this website... I had no idea what you all go through, I remember Timmy as a little fella, he was THE cutest child I ever saw, seriously, I still think so... he could have been a little model. Remember that picture of him in the little plaid blue and green overalls, the close up on his little round face with the hair just above his ears... SO STINKIN CUTE, seriously! I am glad he is so brave, and dealing so well with everything, that he is staying innocent and safe, and I am mostly glad that he has you, because obviously God gave him to you for a reason, you are amazing. I am sure you have sad days, but from what I just read, you are amazingly strong and have so much faith, and hope, in a world that is so hopeless, Timmy is not the only hero, you are too. An incredible example of God's grace, just being there for him, taking care of him even when it's hard. God bless you for all that you do every day to better the lives of your beautiful children, I never knew I had such an amazing family :)

Hi dear Donna and family,

Well, I was already teary after reading your entry, then I saw the two songs Bonnie posted in the guestbook. These are two of my favorites as well, but I never knew all the words to the "Valleys of Sorrow to Rivers of Joy" one. Wow. That about sums it up, huh? Thank you, Bonnie. Thank you, Jesus, that we can look forward with hope to the time when you will dry every tear from our eyes and, especially, our children's. It is that hope that sustains us.

I am constantly amazed at how powerful that hope is, how powerful it is to know Him and His great love for us. Your family and sweet Bonnie are such incredible testaments to that. May He give He give Tim such great comfort in this hope. And in all the "little things" that mean so much to him.

I will be praying for a blessed Birthday and Holiday season for all of you. I am so glad you are finding joy in it already.

Praying for your health, too, Donna. May He heal and strengthen you and provide the help you need so you can rest.

Praying for comfort for Amanda and her family.

God help all those you have requested prayers for, and thank you again for thinking of us. Dalton is really, really struggling with fear, anxiety and deep depression still. He needs a new psychiatric medication that will work to balance whatever chemicals are off in his brain.

Blessings to Malissa and her baby!

I love you so much,
Donna

Hello Thorell Family, :-)

Well, I have another song for you. I have loved this song for years and still get goosebumps when I hear the music and really focus on the words. There have been so many times when I've felt the things this song mentions in its verses, but I love that it always goes back to God delivering us through times of difficulty and suffering. I also included a link to a website that has audio of the WHOLE song for free; if the song doesn't start as soon as the page loads then you can just play around with the buttons on the player that's towards the left side of the page. I've copied the lyrics below, but they are also shown on the linked webpage, which is great because then you can read them while listening to the song. :-) (just make sure your volume is on:-)

Thanks so much for your sweet note in my guest book, it was so encouraging to me! I also still owe you an email, because I want to send you the pics of us from this summer, but am just waiting for my body to fall in line. :-)

I love you guys so much! Never ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever forget that!!!!! :-) But probably the more comforting thing, because it is the MOST comforting thing there is, is how much God loves us. He loves us enough to lead us through valleys of sorrow to rivers of joy, YEAH!!!! :-)

All my love,
Bonnie

P.S. I can't believe you're already set for Christmas! You are honestly like Wonder Woman, you know that right?!?! :-) You have so much on your plate with your kids and your own health problems, and yet you're already ready for the holiday season... amazing. :-)

The Valley Song - Jars of Clay

You have led me to the sadness
I have carried this pain
On a back bruised, nearly broken
I'm crying out to You

Chorus:
I will sing of Your mercy
That leads me through valleys of sorrow
To rivers of joy

When death like a Gypsy
Comes to steal what I love
I will still look to the heavens
I will still seek Your face

But I fear You aren't listening
Because there are no words
Just the stillness and the hunger
For a faith that assures

Chorus x2

Alleluia, alleluia
Alleluia, alleluia

While we wait for rescue
With our eyes tightly shut
Face to the ground using our hands
To cover the fatal cut

And though the pain is an ocean
Tossing us around, around, around
You have calmed greater waters
Higher mountains have come down

Hello Donna and Thorell Family!!!!

Well, after a few really rough weeks I thought I was finally doing a little better, and then major gut problems tonight! Uck! It's been keeping me from updating my own site, as you've probably seen (hopefully I'll be able to soon:-), but I really wanted to write to you guys tonight. I've been keeping tabs on all you guys have been up to (usually Mummy reads the updates to me), and I really hope you are finally able to slow down and get some rest and take care of yourself. As much as my Mummy does to try to keep me stable I'm always reminding her that she needs to take care of herself to stay healthy as well because I don't know what I would do without her, and I know your kids need you just as much. I really feel for Tim as well, I know he's having a hard time, and please tell him that I'm there fighting with him in spirit - he isn't alone, though I know it often feels like it. Please give a special hello to Lianna as well, it was so nice to meet her this summer. I know I shared a couple of songs with you in the past, well I came across another one and I've been sharing it with mito folks I know who are struggling right now. It was such an encouragement to me and I hope it will encourage you as well, even if only in a small way. :-) I also added a link to a youtube video in case you wanted to hear how the song sounds, it was very touching to me.

You guys are amazing, and I know it's because you serve an amazing God. The "mito monster" would be defeating us if the Lord were not our sole sustainer, but because He is we live in VICTORY over this disease! :-)

I love you so much, and I hope you always remember that. You and your family will always have a special place in my heart, and I pray that God will wrap His strength-giving arms around you guys and remind you of His great faithfulness. :-)

With lots of love,
Bonnie

Untitled Hymn (Come To Jesus)
by Chris Rice

Weak and wounded sinner
Lost and left to die
O, raise your head, for love is passing by
Come to Jesus
Come to Jesus
Come to Jesus and live!

Now your burden's lifted
And carried far away
And precious blood has washed away the stain, so
Sing to Jesus
Sing to Jesus
Sing to Jesus and live!

And like a newborn baby
Don't be afraid to crawl
And remember when you walk
Sometimes we fall...so
Fall on Jesus
Fall on Jesus
Fall on Jesus and live!

Sometimes the way is lonely
And steep and filled with pain
So if your sky is dark and pours the rain, then
Cry to Jesus
Cry to Jesus
Cry to Jesus and live!

O, and when the love spills over
And music fills the night
And when you can't contain your joy inside, then
Dance for Jesus
Dance for Jesus
Dance for Jesus and live!

And with your final heartbeat
Kiss the world goodbye
Then go in peace, and laugh on Glory's side, and
Fly to Jesus
Fly to Jesus
Fly to Jesus and LIVE!

Hi Donna and family,

We miss you guys too and sorry to hear what you guys are going through. Heidi has written a lot of letters for the grants and boy does she have a nack for writing! Did you hear that Heidi was the guest speaker at the 10th anniversary of the Prison Pup Program? It was a surprise to her but she did a great job. Wishing your whole family a healthy winter and hopefully we can get together at some point when everyone is healthy (well mostly).

Happy Birthday this month to Tim, Reilly, and Mom!!!

Thank you so much for thinking of Craig while we were on his Make-a-Wish trip, Donna. It brings tears to my eyes to realize how much you think of us and others with all you go through. We had a great time in Texas!!!

How I hope and pray the dr. appts. will stop for awhile so you can get rest and take care of yourself. I am so sorry to hear how your body is struggling.

Glad to hear about some of the kids' improvements. You are always finding the positive amongst all the difficulties you all endure. Praise God for that generous man giving Tim his guitar!! I am so happy for him. It means the world just to see our kids smile. Tim sure deserves some joy in his life.

Love to you all,
Donna

Hi Donna!
I am so sorry...that Dr. seems to have had no EQ (emotional intelligence). Although this condition runs rampant in our neck of the woods - I do not expect that from your neck of the woods :). We were thrilled to find doctors that would actually see Mito patients out there (is it wierd that Bonnie hasn't seen any doctors since we got back in August? Even her PCP has no interest in seeing her...).
Know that we are praying for you and Rod and each kid. I know that God will continue to hold you all in His mighty arms, and that when the tears come - He is crying too. I wish I could send you some pixie dust........I guess all we have here is desert sand and and lots of sunshine! (yay....it's finally cooled off enough to grow some flowers!)
Love from our clan to yours,
Lyn

Hi Donna,
I have had doctors give me dire predictions as well and I have come to take them with a grain of salt. Nobody knows what this year or next year holds and the kids that doctors think won't make it often outlive the predictions. Nonetheless, it IS hard to hear a doctor say "there is not much else I can do". This disease is frustrating and I can't wait for a day when they say "we have a new treatment" instead of "there is nothing more to offer". Hoping the new specialist may have more words of hope and compassion for you than this one. If a doctor has nothing more to offer, the least he can offer is a compassionate voice.

Hope things get better!!

Donna-
So hoping and praying for that good week- or we'll take more please, Lord!- for dear Tim. I'm so sorry something new has come up with Reilly, and something all too familiar with you guys. Going to pray for him and for the research and answers needed to cure this mito beast.

Thank you for remembering us in your prayer list, Donna. The Holy Spirit working in you again because I reached a low point last night, with some difficult family news. My sweet 17 year old niece has macular dystrophy and is starting to go blind. Many other things have been happening as well, but this felt like the straw that would break this camel's back psychologically and emotionally. To see so many I love (including your family, other mito families, my children, my extended family, etc.) suffer so much in so many different ways is getting to be too much to bear, or so it seemed last night.

Anyone who reads this could you please include my niece Maegan and her family in your prayers? Thank you so much.

And Malissa, if you see this, CONGRATULATIONS! What a breath of fresh air to hear of your joy and to pray for your strengthening and the strengthening of the precious life inside you. I'm so happy for you!!!

Thank God for the joy and beauty of our children to help us keep going. I know mine do! As do yours for you, Donna! God bless them all.

All my love,
Donna

Stopping in to say hello to our friends in Boston. I'm so sorry about Tim's struggles, Donna, and the heartbreak of watching it happen. "Sorry" is hardly enough, but you know it comes from a heart of deep love for you and your family. I am so glad the Lord crossed our paths via the internet.

I have a bit of news I thought you would especially appreciate. We have decided that I will homeschool the boys! :-) I am very excited about it. I kept them home all last week and our stress level went down considerably. Dalton is doing so much better (he is also back up to dose on his meds, though). We are all relieved and looking forward to creative learning opportunities. Maybe a trip to Boston someday???! We could see my home state, learn about our countries heritage and BEST OF ALL meet the Thorells!!!!!!! I hope the Lord will lead us your way sometime.

Hi Donna,
I am so sorry Tim is continuing to struggle. I can certainly understand his desire for a break in medical care, although the balance between help and waiting so challenging. Does he have enough energy to go to the doctor's appt. and then visit with his friend as a reward later in the day or the next day? I've been doing something similar lately where I will go to my appts., but then tag on something fun afterwards since I really only have the energy for two activities outside of the house per week.

Thank you for your sweet note on my guestbook yesterday. It meant a lot and I HOPE we get good news in two weeks. Keep thinking good sticky vibes for us! A lot of women in the IVF world eat pineapple and cinnamon buns as a good luck charm to increase their embryos' "stickiness", so if you'd like to join in the fun, eat some cinnamon buns in our embryo's honor!

Dear Donna,

I have followed your family and prayed for your family for about a year now. While I realize that the lose of your van and your feelings of safety while you travel are huge. I thank God that you and Lianne are well. Stay strong in Christ!

Heather Laurie <blueknightdawn@yahoo.com>

Dear Donna,

I know how much that van meant to you, what a blessing it was, and not for any material reasons. I remember when you didn't have heat for the kids in the winter or had to worry about breaking down in Boston. You LIVED in that van. Probably spend more time in there going back and forth to appts. than anywhere else. And you can ill afford days without it right now for that reason!

You were such a good steward of the gift God gave you, as you are, even more so, of the children God has given you! Thank God you insisted the boys stay home for that trip.

May you and Lianna experience such a time of healing as you recover together. May Jesus' love, the Balm of Gilead (I should find the words to that beautiful hymn for you), cover you and comfort you from head to toe to heart. Much love and grace to Rod, too, as he deals with this difficult blow to his beloved family.

All our love and prayers,
Donna and family

Dearest Donna,

Bless your heart.... Wow, life's issues can just stink sometimes!!! I just want to let you know how much of a blessing you are to all of us out here in Cyberland. God is using you through all of this, my words cannot express how I feel, just know that you are a very special woman of God who has been showing forth God's love and strength to all of us.
For that I say "thank you"... May God touch your body and the others in your family and give you a miracle of healing in every way.

Much love to you and your family,

A sister in Christ..

Hi Donna,

Wow....to think it was only a week ago when we saw you and Lianna and your beautifully maintained van. I thank God that you and Lianna are doing as well as you are. We too are having car trouble, and coasted our way into Albuquerque (the van decided it wouldn't go another mile.....not sure why). We were fortunate to find a "Super 8" coasting into town, but of course all the service shops were already closed. We transferred Bonnie and all her medical stuff into the hotel room (not the best timing for extra lifting as I have injured my back and hip and will need to get it checked out as soon as we get home). So, while Bonnie and I lie here in the hotel bed we are thinking and praying for you and Lianna in yours :). We are hoping to get the van serviced and running tomorrow and us back on the road by Tuesday (am I dreaming?) as Bonnie's supplies are depleting quickly.

Love and prayers for you all,
Lyn

Hey Donna and family,

Nice to get an update. I would have been one of those "bugging" you with an email. But, I can't imagine how you ever find time to get on the computer and then to tell all that has been going on...whew!!! I know it is not even the half of it, yet it is so very, very much.

What GREAT news about Kris' musical abilities!!! That is so exciting. I'm happy for Josh, too, to be finding peace in the direction he is headed.

I am so sorry to hear about the constant seizures you just experienced with Tim, and the other things that are going on.

It is hard to believe or imagine how you manage to even get to all the appts./tests for Reilly and Lianna, too. How I wish you could catch a break.

Whatever that surprise coming up is, may it bring joy to your entire clan, and to you and Ron as you see them experience it.

God surely keeps you through all of this. I've said it before, but you and your family are a living testimony, a miracle people can witness and know that God must exist. Keep bringing him glory and may the blessings keep pouring in to let you know that He is with you through it all.

Love you!
Donna

Just want you to know I am checking in and always thinking of you all. I pray the Lord will give you ways to take care of yourself more, Donna. I don't know how you can in your situation with all the children's needs, but somehow He will provide. They need you well.

You know I am praying for financial relief that will take any pressure to work off your shoulders and make living easier for you all. You could use a little easier. Make that ALOT!

Love you,

Why is it that people think they are "something" when they pay through the nose to have someone else's name on their bag?? Go figure.
Love to you all - hope VBS was wonderful, I took this year off and I did miss it.
It had to have been a week for infections and hospitals, I'll swap stories with you later, my sister and nephew had a really tough week too. The oddest thing was the cat having a stroke and then discovering a heart murmur. Thank goodness the vet said that they don't do kitty heart surgery!! Paul got mad when Jonathan and I called her "Dizzy".
I will pray for you all. God Bless!

I think Joanne captured the perfect scripture in Isaiah's interpretation of God's Word.

Isaiah 40:31 -
But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be wear, and they shall walk, and not faint.

Let this be your word and sustanance that you feed from until you are nourished. I pray that you are relieved of all obstacles and released into His bliss.

Dear Donna,

Dear Stephens Family,

Isaiah 40:31 But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be wear, and they shall walk, and not faint.

God is a mighty God and He is still performing miracles. I pray that God will pour out an abundance of miracles on Kate. My heart aches at what each of you must be going through, but as a Christian, I know that God is there for you. I pray that God gives each of you strength. The verse I have included has helped me over the years. Each time I read it, I feel God's mighty arms around me and I know through Him all things are possible. May each of you find the strength you need through God and through His love and the love of your family, friends, and fellow Christians.

Love in Christ,

Dear Donna,

I was just checking in with everyone. Throughout the years we have made so many CB friends. I found this poem and thought it was perfect.

The Power of Friends

Everyone knows of the power of friends,
The terrific result, when everything blends.
When people have friends, they don’t stand alone;
Friends always help, when you face the unknown.

Friends give you courage to face problems untold,
So the love of a friend can help make you bold.
They can help you to live a much richer life,
So your every day living will be less filled with strife.

Thanks for being my friend!

Dearest Donna,

So glad for the blessings you could count today! Yay to improved counts! And, I'm so happy you could finally be at the beach (minus the sunburn!) and spend some time with a friend. You so deserve that.

How can I thank you enough for remembering us in your entries and your prayers? It's a cake walk over here compared to what you endure. And, to what dear Bonnie is going through. She is a sparkling jewel in this world. I know that just from " meeting her" her through her caringbridge page.

She and your friend Ann Marie will be in my prayers. As are you and yours, always.

Much love,

My heart is so heavy with the news about Lianna, on top of Tim's continued struggle, and Kris' and...

Please know that I never stop thinking of you and yours and praying that God will continue to give grace and strength for all you endure. There simply is no other way you could have come this far or will continue to walk the path he has laid before you. Your family is a miracle to behold, Donna and Rod. Surely, He is glorified in your lives as much as any.

How I wish the cross you are called to bear could be a lighter one, though. We will have to help you carry it through our love and prayers. Wish I were closer to be an actual, present shoulder for those tears. My mother's heart is breaking for you.

With much love,

Hi Donna,
I have had to have several hard conversations with my doctors lately as well. At least three separate doctors have brought up end of life issues up with me lately in regards to various aspects of my life and the conversation is never easy, although by the third or forth time it seems to lose it's punch a little! I actually really appreciate the doctors who do bring it up because I would much rather approach it now before I need to than in the middle of a crisis. I, also, feel I have so much living left to do....so at least once I have those issues addressed, I don't have to think about them again until I need to....and I can go on living life to the fullest.

Keeping your family in prayer.

Dearest Donna and family,

I am so sorry it has been so long!! I was so glad to finally be able to get into the journal to see how you are doing, but I hate to hear how much you have been through, especially with Tim.

That young man deserves a medal of honor for all that he has endured. I am sure he has a crown waiting for him, though! If it has a jewel for each trial he has been through, it will be amazing to behold!!! As will yours, Rod's, and all the children's.

I'm so sorry that Kris' stomach is flaring up so badly again, too. He has suffered so much as well.

I just wish enough could be enough for you all. I wish this Mito monster would just go away and leave you all alone for good. I know that day is coming, but how I wish it could be here and now for you all, for Bonnie, and for all who are suffering so much.

Forgive me for being so out of touch. I have been running so crazy here- just with busyness, though, not emergency hospital trips! You are never far from my thoughts, of course, and I want to remain faithful in prayer for your family.

Love you,
Donna

Hi Donna and Family,

I am almost finished with the book “Running Scared: Fear, Worry and the God of Rest” by Ed Welch and have been continually challenged and encouraged. The book has been such a timely reminder to me of the importance of talking with the Lord about our burdens. I so often carry an unnecessary load of concerns throughout my day when I am called to lay them at the feet of my Lord and allow Him to carry them for me. What a blessing it is to serve a God who cares and wants to know about our fears and concerns!

Philippians 4:6-7 “Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”

Praying for you and yours.

There are times when only a Mother's love
Can understand our tears,
Can soothe our disappoints
And calm all of our fears.
There are times when only a Mother's love
Can share the joy we feel
When something we've dreamed about
Quite suddenly is real.
There are times when only a Mother's faith
Can help us on life's way
And inspire in us the confidence
We need from day to day.
For a Mother's heart and a Mother's faith
And a Mother's steadfast love
Were fashioned by the Angels
And sent from God above.

Happy Mother’s Day

Dearest Donna,

Thank you so very much for requesting prayer for us when you are suffering so. You have so many needs. I will talk to the Lord about each one.

I am so sorry about Reilly. So sorry. What a shock and discouragement.

I have never understood the hyperactive, yet with an energy problem thing myself. (Craig is like that too!) It seems like an oxymoron, doesn't it?

I am so sorry about Tim's allergies, too!, and his continuing infection and difficulty eating.

So many more things I could say for each of you and all of you. I am so thankful for the church you have now.

Thinking of You, AT EASTER TIME

Through the year we get so busy
with our lives from day to day,
It's hard for us to find the time
for things we'd like to say -
That's why Easter is so welcome
for the special chance it brings
To say you're thought of often
and wished all life's happy things.

Have a Very Happy Easter and Springtime,

Donna,
This poem came to my heart after reading your entry.

I Shall Be Glad
by Grace Noll Crowell
If I can put new hope within the heart
Of one who has lost hope,
If I can help a brother up
Some difficult long slope
That seems too steep for tired feet to go,
If I can help him climb
Into the light upon the hill's far crest,
I shall begrudge no time
Or strength that I spend, for well I know
How great may be his need.
If I can help through any darkened hour,
I shall be glad indeed.

For I recall how often I have been
Distressed, distraught, dismayed,
And hands have reached to help, and voices called
That kept me unafraid.
If I can share this help that I have had,
God knows I shall be glad.

Anything you need, please lmk and I'll be there.
You are an amazing woman, please don't 2nd guess your decisions. I feel the pain in your written words. You give your family 100% of yourself and you are wise beyond what you realize. There's no way to know what would have been different if Tim didn't have the tube placed. I can only imagine what it's been like to watch the huge changes in him since then. But remember, he is like you and has touched so many lives in his path in a positive and wonderful way Today, Yesterday and Tomorrow!

Molly <mollysurfer@yahoo.com>

Hi Donna,

A while back someone sent this poem to me. It helped me have the patience to wait for our future to unfold like the rose. I realized that God reveals our lives to us in His time not ours. I can now look back at that time and see many beautiful memories among the sad ones. I know that you and your family will make many more beautiful memories in the years ahead.

UNFOLDING THE ROSE
It is only a tiny rosebud,
A flower of God's design;
But I cannot unfold the petals
With these clumsy hands of mine.

The secret of unfolding flowers
Is not known to such as I.
GOD opens this flower so sweetly,
When in my hands they fade and die.

If I cannot unfold a rosebud,
This flower of God's design,
Then how can I think I have wisdom
To unfold this life of mine?

So I'll trust in Him for His leading
Each moment of every day.
I will look to him for His guidance
Each step of the pilgrim way.

The pathway that lies before me,
Only my Heavenly Father knows.
I'll trust Him to unfold the moments,
Just as He unfolds the rose.

~ © Bryan T. Burgess ~

These situations always make me think of that great Mother Teresa quote: "I know God will not give me anything I can't handle. I just wish that He didn't trust me so much."

Continuing to pray for all of you.

Donna,
I just read your update on Tims tube. As you probably know Emily was given a Gtube at teh same time as Tim. For Hydration not feeds at the time. I think they were the only two. I can completely understand your frustrations we have had the same problems with Emilys gut since the surgery that you have had with Tims, the fundo is even worsse than the tube I am sorry to say. I have had the same feeling as you about the guilt. The only thing that I like to tell myself is that we thought it was the right choice to help our children. Had either of us had to do it again I think we would choose differently. But we have made the best choices we could have made for our children. Not many parents have to face the amount of very serious chioces that we face every day. I know it is hard, trust me I really do know, but try to look at the amount of choices that you both have made for your children that have been life saving and know that God has a reason for the ones that maybe we do not think were "the right ones". It took me a very long time to not hate myself for making this choice for Emily ands everytime I have to watch another retching spell, which is most days, I still do not know that I have totally forgiven myself. If you ever want to talk please feel free to email me or I do not know if you still have my number but I can give it to you again.

I hope you are feeling better by now Donna; even though I am doing horribly right now with more infections (my old friend Klebsiella and new one whose name I can't remember) I did want to quick stop in and tell you that you guys are always in my heart and that I love you so very much! :-)

Love,
Bonnie

Congratualtions to Reilly!!! And what a blessing to know you had something to lift your spirits today, Donna. Those "little things" are such big things to a mother's heart, especially a mother whose kids already deal with so much.

Hope you are getting better.

Praying in tandem!

Love,
Donna

Dear Donna and Rod,

I was in such disbelief at the news of the flood, along with everything else. I just didn't know what to think or to pray. It is so hard to understand why one family must continue to go through so much.

But, tonight, the Lord gave me faith to pray from Romans 8 for you. Surely, all things will work together for good for you, surely you are being conformed to His image through all of this, surely He is for you and no power can be against you, and surely NOTHING can separate you from His great love!!! I am standing on these promises for you.

I have been very discouraged lately, and the enemy wants us to feel defeated. On your behalf tonight (and ours) I refuse to let Him win. Far better yet, it says Jesus Himself is interceding for us!! NO way are His prayers going unanswered. May you see His hand and feel His love in every circumstance. My heart goes out to you so much.

Love and hugs,
Donna

Wish I had checked in yesterday, Rod. I will add prayers for healing from the possible pneumonia for Donna and for all the children's needs. Thanks for posting so we know. Please keep us informed. I am so sorry you are dealing with so much, always so, so much.

Praying for supernatural strength to uphold you through all this and work as well.

Please give Donna my love.

I had not been able to get on the computer for a few days so am just catching up. And I am kind of speechless...certainly not emotion-less however!

I am sorry. I wish I lived next door so I could help you.
I would even fold your laundry. I would even iron.
That is saying a lot :o)

But the best I can do for you now is confirm...
The light of God surrounds you....
The love of God enfolds you....
The power of God protects you....
The presence of God watches over you.
Wherever you are, God is and all is good....

I will hold all of you close in confirmation of healing and light...

Donna -
You are in my prayers every day, and I will pray specifically for pain relief for you and for some answers and help for Tim. Emily has done this during periods of uncontrolled seizures, and when we achieve better control she has some recovery (physically and cognitively), sometimes even back to baseline. Our current miracle is that everyone in the family has been sick for a month except Emily - God must be protecting her! I do believe that every experience is part of the journey and has meaning, but I may not understand why something happens until later, if ever, and I certainly may not like what happens and have difficulty accepting it. Somebody told me once that if, at the end of the day, you feel that you are blessed by even a small part of your situation, such as the love of your family (well, that's a big part), that you will find the strength to persevere and see the goodness in your life. I pray that things will be easier and better for you soon -

Dear Donna,

I am so sorry to hear about Lianna's progression. She has been on my heart, and I want to pray for her more. I'm so glad Kris is getting better. Thinking of all of you all the time.

The Lord knows it would be too much for you to work a part-time job! May He provide all you need for the foods for the kids in miraculous ways.

Much love,
Donna

Hi Donna
I have been following your site faithfully for quite some time now. I admit i am not consistent enough with signing guestbooks. That can be a new personal goal for 2008. I too see Dr K in Boston and have mito. We share many mito friends. I am on TPN 24/7 via central line and battle near constant line infections/sepsis too. I too have a CB site if you ever have a chance to stop by..but I know you are super busy between dealing with children's health isues as well as your own.
Praying for you all. I hope 2008 is a better year for you all..
Hugs
