Dear Jake, just want to say "HI", and hope you are doing well these days....:-). Is there any snow in your hometown yet? The first snow came this morning here in my town and I really got some trouble in getting to work. It really came too suddenly and it was not said anything about it in the news either...:-). Have you ever gone skiing, Jake?

Hi Jake and family. My name is Cheri Fraker and I have a son with cyclic vomiting syndrome named Luke. He is 15 now. We estimate he has vomited 65,000 times in his life. He is doing really well now. I hope you are better and will pray for you every day. Have you all seen Dr Li in Milwaukee? He specializes in CVS. Dr Colin Rudolph would also be very good and he is from Milwaukee. Dear Jake - and Hannah and Mom! Just want to say that I have been thinking a lot about you lately. I feel that God has put you all into my heart, and you are all in my prayers daily now...:-).
Sorry to hear that things are not going so very well considering the doctors and the cooperation, Christine. Praying that the Lord will find a way through all this, like he uses to do when it all seems impossible. Sometimes it seems as He often comes in our most helpless moments....
I am reading all the stuff I can find about CVS here in Norway, but it seems to be pretty rare. I will keep on reading....

Good to hear that you enjoy school, Jake. Praying for a solution that will make you gain more weight through the year....:-).

Still sunny days here in Norway, but also some days with pretty heavy rain now. We have had our first storm, which made the electricity disappear...and also caused some troubles to the tree ferries which is crossing the fjord in front of my window. And the snow have arrived also, down to about 500 m above sea level. I can see many white mountaintops from my kitchenwindow now as I sit here writing this...:-). And many cars have already slided off the road in high places.

I"m praying SOMEONE decides to pick up he ball here- I so very clearly know what this is like- too many drs and no one communicating, and no plan... have you considered asking for a consult with COmplex Care? I don't know if it would be right for JAke, but they do help coordinate drs...

Anyway, I'm praying for you both- this is a frustrating (beyond belief) place to be.

Hi Jake! Greetings from Norway to one of the worlds most handsome guys......and the best singer ever! I saw you for the first time on Youtube a week ago, and you really made a huge impression on me, Jake. Fantastic singing and tons of charm....:-).
I work as a nurse here in Norway and I will have to read more about CVS now to understand what you are going through. And I also want to say that from now on you are in my prayers, Jake.
It is an fantastic autumn here on the west coast of Norway, lots of sunny days to go fishing and hiking in the mountains. From my kitchen window I can see almost 200 mountaintops.....:-).
Read about your nice summertrip also, Jake, and looked at the very nice pictures of you and Hannah. You are really looking good on them, Jake...:-).

Last night was SOOOO bright in California with candles burning for your buddy Kaden. Papa Charlie and I had 4 candles 1 for Kaden, 1 for Kaden's special donor baby and 1 for a special friend whose little boy is also very sick. All the boys had blue candles and then I had a special BIG white candle for all the special families. Boy I wonder if the candles could be seen by the planes flying over California.

Hi CHristine! that stinks about 4 more hours being accessed :( I would worry about infection too- but at least you are determined to let him have some normalcy and let him go swimming and such. CAn you imagine if he had a broviac? THat would be terrible, he wouldn't be able to do any of that stuff!

You remind me of my little boy...well, when he WAS little. I guess he's a BIG boy now - he just had a birthday last week and is 25 years old. My son is a Red Sox fan, too. Did you watch any of the World Series games? They were on TV so late at night that it may have been WAY past your bedtime. It was exciting that they won. I, just like Rachelle, was looking for DMB videos on youtube when I came across Jakob. He honestly brought a tear to my eye. I instantly fell in love with his beautiful voice and that adorable face. It humbles me that such a young boy has so much courage, more than I could ever hope for. I'm a huge Dave fan and I hope one day I'll be able to hear this little guy sing in person, whether it's on stage or in the parking lot at a DMB concert.

I love DMB and was serching for video and came across Jakob. I do not have any kids yet but if and when I do I hope they are as cooool as Jakob. Hey, no news is good news, right? That's the way I look at it at least!

I have to get some blood work done some time this week too. Grrrr -- I'm not looking forward to it, so I'm trying to put it off until I can't put it off any longer. I'm not exactly the best person to draw blood from. In the past I've been known to do anything from cry to pass out. Luckily that hasn't happened for awhile now, but I still don't like it.

It was SO great getting the chance to meet you yesterday. You are one cute young man. Went on P2P today after several weeks of not visiting and of course, Jake is always first in my mind. Because of the recent crash I couldn't get an update from there so I checked here. Sounds like some part of the team has uncovered even more stones that need to be turned over...I hope the calorie study yields some useful information. Also sounds like the Neurontin was helpful...until the darned flu!! Hope that Jake is feeling better.

I have thought a lot about you recently and how active you keep Jake...following your model Devon will begin T-Ball practice on Saturday!! I hope the Spring is good to both of you.

It was great seeing that you and your Mom had the time to stop by Sammi's page. We always love hearing from you guys. Sammi isn't too fond of playing in the snow (*there are a couple of pictures on her page of her staring at the snow as if it's evil*), but we're working on this. We want to build a snowman with her and she wants to build one too, but how can we do that if she won't go in the snow? You think you can set her straight on this one?

I have to first thank you for all your ideas on how to deal with Paulina's situation. I was reading some of the things you wrote on Jake's journal and I have to tell you I've felt the same way about the decisions we've made for Paulina.I decided that even though we probably made some wrong decisions, they were all on the best interest for her, misguided perhaps, but for the best. The great thing about all this is that right now I feel that everyday we can do better, thanks to people like you and your family, you guys are a great example to all of us, so thank you and your beautifull family.

Congratulations on gaining some weight!!! You have no idea how happy I was (ok, I still am) when I read that. What terrific news!!! Keep up the excellent work, buddy!!! Want a Big Mac? How 'bout some KFC? A nice big, piece of chocolate cake? You name it and it's yours!!! I just made myself hungry by mentioning those things, so the sooner we get them the better.

How 'bout those Sox??? Jim & I have been watching every game we're able to and, needless to say, we're VERY impressed with our team. Sammi has had to miss a lot of games since her bedtime is right around the time when the games are on, but I've been dressing her in her Red Sox shirt every night. My Red Sox lighter has also been by my side every minute and (don't tell Jim -- he hasn't found this out yet) I slapped a Red Sox sticker on the back of his car the other day. hehehe

Have you ever seen the movie "The Man Without a Face?" I was just watching it and I thought it was great. Yes, I realize it's an old movie but I don't get to see movies too often -- I usually end up seeing a movie after it has been on tape for about a year or two. Needless to say, my eyes are still blurry after watching that.

My thoughts and prayers are ALWAYS with you and your family. Don't forget to have those adorable kiddies of yours shout -- "GO SOX!!!"

Oh sweetie. I was so hoping to hear you had gained some weight -- not lost some. Every one of my thoughts and prayers continue to be with you for you to pack on some pounds. I'm sure you look adorable as a little weed, but how 'bout we try to turn you into a big, fat beanstalk? Huh? Huh? Hey, I'm trying here.

Your Mom stopped by to sign Sammi's guestbook and she mentioned that you guys will be having a 4th of July bash at your place on Monday. Boy, that sounds like tons of fun! And what a great view of the fireworks you'll have. When I was little, I would go to my Grandparents house to watch the fireworks -- if you stood on their back porch you could see them VERY well. I probably mentioned this, but we'll be setting off our own fireworks tomorrow night and you better believe that you'll be on my mind while we're doing it.

I wanted to bring Sammi outside to play in her pool this afternoon, but it's kind of cool out. This cooler weather is a BIG change from the hot, sticky, humid weather we've had for the past week. Believe me, this weather is VERY much appreciated. Hopefully it'll be like this tomorrow night so we won't sweat to death while we're outside.

I'm so sorry to hear Jakob hasn't gained any weight. We're having a cookout tomorrow night. If he promises to eat LOTS and LOTS of food, he's more than welcome to join us. Oh who am I kidding! You guys are more than welcome to join us anytime you're able to. But it would be a plus to see Jakob chow down on some food.

How 'bout those Sox? Do you like watching baseball? I got Sammi in to it last year when the Sox made their way to the World Series. I had her clapping, cheering and booing at the right times. We had lots of fun together.

Your Mom brought it to my attention that you and Sammi are only two days apart -- that is pretty cool! Sammi and her Grandpa (my step-Dad) are a day apart and we usually celebrate their birthdays on the same day. Wouldn't it be awesome to have a party for both you and Sammi on the same day? We should definitely work on that in the future.

I just wanted to drop by and read more of Jake's updates. I know we spoke on the phone, but, my memory isn't great LOL!

I know the surgeon speaking of a colostomy sounded pretty scary, but at least he's looking at ways to help, rather than just throwing in the towel and saying Jake's the way he is and that's it.

I truly hope you and dh get away for a couple of days. I wish my dh and I could follow suit ;)

hi there. I came across your site while looking up sandifer's syndrome and reflux. I have three children, all of which have had reflux. However, my youngest, my daughter of 3 months, has it the worst. We cannot get her to stop vomitting. It comes up immediately after she eats and it comes from her mouth and nose. We are so frustrated! She is already on Zantac, we have changed her formula countless times and we add 2 tsp's of rice per ounce of her formula. Dr's give us no more new idea's, so, I suppose i'm grasping at straws to figure out what to do. I just wanted to say that I am glad that your son is doing great. I know what your going through. My daughter will be three January 24 and was just diagnosed with cip in september at columbus childrens hospital. Your pictures of Jake bring back memories of her having her manometry testing. Kathryn has had a ng tube for 15 months. I wouldn't let them do a g tube until they could give me a confirmed diagnose. They've been telling me for two years they thought she had a behavioral problem,can you imagine. I kept on saying a kid just doesn't make herself throw up. Anyway I guess what I'm trying to say is I know how you feel . Kathryn will have her gj tube placement in about a month. Right now I got her into the cisapried case study. So far I don't see anything amazing happening, but I never loose hope. Your son looks very healthy. And I know with this illness that's not easy, you must be doing a good job. good luck to you and if you ever need to talk I'd love to hear from you

Hello Jakob and family!
I am so sorry that you have to go through all of this. My son has had a g-tube, he's had a fundoplication and a pyloroplasty. Unfortunately, now we're finding out that that's the least of our worries. He's off the g-tube now but has an immune dysfunction. He has had pneumonia 15 times including RSV at 2 weeks of age. I also lost a baby at 3 weeks of age almost exactly 6 years ago (he died on January 17th). My family is from NH and I have an nephew who has been in the Floating Hospital quite a few times. He was born premature and has hydrocephelus, a shunt, a seizure disorder and is wheelchair bound with cerebral palsy. His first surgery was at Floating when he was a week old. It was open heart surgery.. almost 16 years ago! I will be praying for you and your family. God's Peace,
