Thank you for the slide show! Jake didn't even know he was a male model, but he has a smile that melts my heart every time. Also, Madison is just adorable....I can see Don, Staci and Jake, all three of you, in her sweet face. But her expressions are definitely all her own! You can already tell she is going to have some GREAT ones. And last, but not least, Ellie Sue is beautiful and already a big Thanksgiving HAM!!!!! God sure knew what he was doing by giving her parents that could match her personality plus!

I couldn't wait to get home this afternoon to check Jake's site. I love the new pictures. The girls are just precious. I have a little story to share. I had to go to the ER Wednesday evening and ended up having my gallbladder out yesterday. I am not good when it comes to pain (and needles) but I just kept reminding myself of Jake and all that he went through, and all of the kids battling cancer. I stayed in the ER all night waiting on a room, finally a room was available. When the elevator doors opened all I saw was, Oncology Unit. That reassured me that I could make it throuh this "small" surgery, compared to what everyone around me was going through. So, once again, thanks Jake!
I'm kind of bummed now because I'm not sure if I'm going to make it to Memphis or not. My check up is the day before I'm supposed to leave. I guess I'll know if I'm up for it in a few days.

So happy you were able to go back and visit St. Jude's and know it had to be so very hard for you guys. I think many have said it's the hardest thing to do going back to the hospital where there child fought for their lives.
We will be leaving to go on Lenzie's Wish Trip to Disney and wanted to stop by and I know it's early but wanted to tell all of your family....

OK Mo, I for one would love to see the 05 Thankgiving Pics, we headed home from St. Jude on 11/16/05, so those pics would mean the world of memories to me and to Peyton. Peyton speaks of Jake often, and just 2 weeks ago the guy at the photo shop at Target mentioned that he remembered us from last Christmas and ordering Jake's card as our Christmas card...PASS IT ON!!

Hello, Hope everyone is doing good. I know the precious baby girls are growing like little weeds!! I have followed Jake for what seems to be the whole journey. I sometimes write but most just keep up with the family & continue to pray for you. I want to share that my precious cousin, Bryce has been diagnosed with Ewing Sarcoma. This is cancer of the bone & soft tissue. His tumor is inoperable becuase of where it is. It is sitting behind is eye. He is such a great kid. Just graduated high school & started college. It has been some time since I signed your guestbook though I check in daily....always hoping for something new to appear. Thank you for continuing to give us a glimpse into the lives of Jake's sweet family.

I am currently doing Beth Moore's "Living Beyond Yourself" bible study and yesterday in class, as the lesson spoke to me, I couldn't help but to think of you. Beth was talking about Faith and about how so often when we face trials, we'd like to be delivered FROM them but that, oftentimes, we NEED to go THROUGH them (with Him, of course). She spoke of the promises that were waiting at the other side of those trials. Raborn Family, can I just say that you all are such a testament to us. We watched you all (and continue to do so) go THROUGH such a huge trial; always trusting and BELIEVING in Him and might I add that it is such an honor to watch you all gather up those PROMISES. The ultimate promise, though, will be yours when you are once again with sweet Jake on those streets of gold. I can't wait to meet you all there.

I'll be sending my check for a Tshirt and can't wait to wear it proudly (even though I'm a big orange fan....anything for Jake and his "fam").

I'm so excited, I will be going to Memphis in less than one month!!! Wow! I've always wanted to go and what a great reason to be going. I'm so thankful that I "stumbled" upon Jake's site two years ago-has it really been that long?

Still checking in, I check in everyday but today I have time to leave a message. As I was taking my kids trick or treating on Halloween the only thing I could think of was Jake and his Happy Merry Christmaween. Probably because I start decorating for Christmas the day after Halloween so I was still in Halloween and thinking of Christmas and watching my kids trick or treat around the neighborhood, I could not help but think of Jake. I had Jake on my mind for days. I was out of touch for a few days but I am back now and still Jake is forefront in my mind. I never had the chance to meet him but boy do I miss him. I miss updates on him and hearing about all the crazy things he did, at one point I was thinking about him while listening to the radio and Tim McGraw came on and you know it, Jake's song, Live like you were dying was on then on Friday I was watching the TODAY show on NBC and I saw a bunch of people in crowd holding up TEAM McGRAW posteers and banners. Jake seemed to be everywhere this weekend and I loved it.
Those girls are beautiful and what a wonderful blessing for ya'll. Keeping Jake's family in our thoughts and prayers always. Starting to plan the trip for Shake for Jake 08 (hey that rhymes). Can't wait to see you all there.

I remember the pictures from last year. They were AWESOME. Jake really was an amazing little guy. I love the fact that even with so much heartache in your family, you all have chosen to live life to it's fullest and find joy in the little things. Hey Jakester. This morning I walked the in the Susan G Komen Race for the Cure 5K in memory of Todd's mom. I took Mason with me and he was a trooper. After the race was over, we walked around getting free goodies. Mason was having a fit for a balloon to send to Shae. I finally found a woman that was passing them out and asked her for 3. The first one went to Shae, the second to Todd's mom, and last but not least the third one went to you. It was a pink balloon, but I am sure that you understand why pink today!! I hope you got it. Mason sure misses you.

It's so hard to believe that you have been gone from this earth for a year. You are missed so much. Thanks for sending your mom and dad precious Madison. I can't wait to get my hands on her as well as your precious cousin Ellie Sue.

Wow, so much going on right now! I am LOVING the new slideshow! The girls are beautiful. I am soo happy to hear about the Tug McGraw foundation helping out!! And thanks for the heads up on the United Way contributions. We just got our info at work recently. I'm going to contact our coordinator to see how to apply my contributions to JOR! And on a personal note, I wanted to share a "Jake inspired" story. My fiance and I have been trying to conceive for quite a while now. I got the package today! Ill do a long run again tomorrow -probally 13-and then
get some mileage during the week. Because I had to sit still and rest for a
month due to my back, there is no rest for me leading up to the big day- I had
more than enough rest during september. Everyone else is tapering meaning they
are resting their muscles to perform on Sunday the 5th. There is ash falling
onto my blackberry as I write this so I may have to run on a treadmill but
considering that some of my teammates on team mcgraw are running post chemo or
can't run because of accidents during training, I am lucky. More than that I am
honored to be a part of Jake's team! I tore through the package this afternoon
and am excited to become a billboard for Tug McGraw and Jake's foundations
respectively next weekend and as I finish out my training. More to come this
weekend. Thinking of you all and wishing I could give you a big hug. What was

Hey Guys!!! I know it's been FOREVER since I've written anything but I have had my plate full! Mo, I just have to say, if you decide to invent that contraption that keeps the paci in the mouth, OMG!, I want one!!! My delicious new baby boy is having a time keeping his beloved paci in his mouth too!! I wish he would just suck his thumb! Wow, what beautiful little girls you guys have. I am so incredibly happy for your families. I still think about Jake and try to find his number in everything. I had a baby shower back in August and the table with the baby book on it was a St. Jude fabric. It had bright stripes in the primary colors. It was in memory of Jake, of course. When the shower was over, the hostess took it back and made a pillow out of it. Now Kohlson has a baby Jake pillow in his room. I just love it! Jake continues to touch lives everyday! My 42 year old husband was just diagnosed with advanced bile duct cancer with secondary tumors on his liver. When we were in the hospital and were waiting for the results, I vowed that if David had cancer, that I would care for him like Don and Staci cared for their Jake. As hard as facing the cancer demon with a husband, I can only imagine how much harder it was to face it for a child. I know you wish you would have never had to be in this position, but thank you for being such good role models for me to follow.

Jake visited me in my dreams last night. The odd thing is, I have never known or met Jake. The dream must have been triggered by seeing his parents on a show about how they won money that enabled them to create the Jake Owen Raborn Foundation.

I'm in college and I have a lot to get done this week, but I had been feeling bummed last night- just out of it, no motivation, lack luster, so I went to sleep earlier than usual. I had a dream I was at a restaurant and little Jake came over to our table. He said he wanted to be my friend because I looked like a good person. He was laughing and told me his name was "Andy the Great," even though I recognized him as Jake. He told me had big plans to learn the things that college kids do. Knowing about his battle, I got the message. He let me hug him and then, with a little grin and wave, he went to make friends with someone else.

Now I believe that people in Heaven sometimes visit us in our dreams. I've seen many friends and family. But never someone I hadn't met before. I want to tell you that he had the most beautiful smile and laugh - he fit the bill of an angel in every possible way.

Glad to get an update and a new slideshow. Madison is so small but very precious. Ellie has gotten so BIG! Both babies are beautiful. My favorite is of the proud momma's with their baby girls. I just read the following on another CB site and it gave me the chills and the "good-all-overs" as it reminded me of Jake's (aka Flipper to me forever)journey and all he accomplished while the Earth was lucky enough to have his presence. ~The Brave Little Soul~

Not too long ago in Heaven, there was a little soul who took wonder in observing the world. He especially enjoyed the love he saw there and often expressed this joy with God. One day, however, the little soul was sad, for on this day he was suffering in the world. He approached God and sadly asked, “Why do bad things happen; why is there suffering in the world?”
God paused for a moment and replied, “Little soul, do not be sad, for the suffering you see, unlocks the love in people’s hearts.” The little soul was confused. “What do you mean?”, he asked. God replied, “Have you not noticed the goodness and love that is the offspring of that suffering? Look at how people come together, drop their differences and show their love and compassion for those who suffer. All their other motivations disappear and they become motivated by love alone.”
The little soul began to understand and listened attentively as God continued, “The suffering soul unlocks the love in people’s hearts much like the sun and the rain unlock the flower within the seed. I created everyone with endless love in their hearts, but unfortunately most people keep it locked up and hardly share it with anyone. They are afraid to let their love shine freely, because they are afraid of being hurt. But a suffering soul unlocks that love. I tell you this - it is the greatest miracle of all. Many souls have bravely chosen to go into the world and suffer - to unlock this love - to create this miracle - for the good of all humanity.”
Just then the little soul got a wonderful idea and could hardly contain himself. With his wings fluttering, bouncing up and down, the little soul excitedly replied, “I am brave; let me go! I would like to go into the world and suffer so that I can unlock the goodness and love in people’s hearts! I want to create that miracle!”
God smiled and said, “You are a brave soul I know, and thus I will grant your request. But even though you are very brave you will not be able to do this alone. I have known since the beginning of time that you would ask for this and so I have carefully selected many souls to care for you on your journey. Those souls will help you create your miracle; however they will also share in your suffering. Two of these souls are most special and will care for you, help you, and suffer along with you, far beyond the others. They have already chosen a name for you.”
God and the brave little soul shared a smile, and then embraced. In parting, God said, “Do not forget little soul that I will be with you always. Although you have agreed to bear the pain, you will do so through my strength. And if the time should come when you feel that you have suffered enough, just say the word, think the thought, and you will be healed.”
Thus at that moment the brave little soul was born into the world, and through his suffering and God’s strength, he unlocked the goodness and love in people’s hearts. For so many people dropped their differences and came together to show their love. Priorities became properly aligned. People gave from their hearts. Those that were always too busy found time. Many began new spiritual journeys - some regained lost faith - many came back to God. Parents hugged their children tighter. Friends and family grew closer. Old friends got together and new friendships were made. Distant family reunited, and every family spent more time together. Everyone prayed. Peace and love reigned. Love changed forever. It was good. The world was a better place. The miracle had happened. God was pleased…
