Gosh it has been 6 whole months plus some since I have been off here. I think it is good therapy for me not to come here so often. Keep in mind we have met some wonderful families that we still think of & pray for thru here, so i gotta stop by once in a while.
Well same old same old here, we arrived in memphis yesterday for a 5 YEAR OFF TREATMENT CHECk-UP today! I never thought I would be typing this-5 years off treatment!!!
Gabrielle is so excited-this should be her last poke(a.k.a. blood draw) HA I am just anxious/thrilled/almost relieved! I do not know what else to say maybe very, very BLESSED!

HAPPY HOLIDAYS!!!

We had an early Christmas spirit day yesterday. It snowed here in Louisiana. We had 3-4 inches on the ground at our house. It was truely beautiful and we had a great time having snowball fights and building snowmen. Gabrielle also made a snow angel.(She always wanted to do that)

All is well here. Gabrielle is enjoying her new sschool and doing very well academically. She even won class president in a mock election held in her class.

We had a very blessed thanksgiving surrounded by friends & family.

May God Bless you all and may you have a very Merry Christmas.

Forever grateful for our family & friends,
Sheena , Paul, & Gabrielle

I copied this from another cb page and wanted to share

LIFE'S TUG OF WAR

Life can seem ungrateful and not always kind...
Life can pull at your heartstrings and play with your mind....
Life can be blissful and happy and free...
Life can put beauty in the things that you see ...

Life can place challenges right at your feet...
Life can make good of the hardships we meet...
Life can overwhelm you and make your head spin...
Life can reward those determined to win...

Life can be hurtful and not always fair...
Life can surround you with people who care ...
Life clearly does offer its Up and its Downs...
Life's days can bring you both smiles and frowns...

Life teaches us to take the good with the bad...
Life is a mixture of happy and sad...

SO

Take the Life that you have and give it your best...
Think positive, be happy, let God do the rest...
Take the challenges that life has laid at your feet...
Take pride and be thankful for each one you meet...

To yourself give forgiveness if you stumble and fall...
Take each day that is dealt you and give it your all...
Take the love that you're given and return it with care...
Have faith that when needed it will always be there...

Take time to find the beauty in the things that you see...
Take life's simple pleasures let them set your heart free....
The idea here is simply to even the score
As you are met and faced with Life's Tug of War

Saturday was Gabrielle's 7th b-day.

Monday, June 23, 2008 1:18 PM CDT

o.K. We made it back from memphis and all is CLEAR!!!
WWWHHHOOOOOOOO HHHOOOOOO!!!

All scans and blood work look good. NED. Thank God

We had a good trip up there and back also.

Gabrielle did pretty good for her poke(also known as blood draw). She did cry but wanted to watch.
I can tell she has grown up so much since our last visit.

Since last summer she has gained 9 pounds and grown (i think) 3 inches. Pretty soon she will past me up...I am only 5'2". It is predicted that she will be 5'7" or 5'8".

Thanks for all of your thoughts and prayers.

If all goes well(we have faith) Gabrielle will be discharged from St. Jude next summer to the ACT clinic(after care treatment). Boy I am looking forward to that day. We will throw a party and just celebrate life:)

To Gabby: I am so proud of you and I love so so much!!!
No matter what life throws our way we will handle it. You are so beautiful, so strong, and so funny. I am so glad you are my daughter. I have learned so much from you these past 6 years. In 2 weeks you will be 7. WOW! I can not believe it. Remember to always follow your heart and dance, dance, dance. Love you to Heaven & back. MOMMY

Hope u don't get piched too much today!!

Well yea we are still here...just so busy...I can not believe I haven't been on here in a month...I guess I am starting to let go of this place(cyberspace). For the last 4 years I was constantly on the computer...reading everyone's pages, keeping up with lots of families and always researching cancer. GOSH I HATE THAT WORD!!!(cancer)

We have been busy with school and dancing...we have delivered all of our cookies and we sold lots more too...around 300 boxes total. Right now we are getting ready for Gabrielle's dance recital. It was scheduled for July 14. Now it has been moved up to May 10 due to construction over the summer. So on Saturday we took dancing pictures and then we went eat boiled crawfish with Paul(dad) & Mitchell (gabby's brother). He is visiting on his spring break. Gabrielle is sssooo excited to visit with him. On sunday we went to the park and had a picnic and played for hours. (we actually thought we had lost Mitchell for alittel while...but we found him on the other side of the park...scary feeling).

I can not wait for our(GABBY) Spring Break(mine is this week)...Thursday is her last day. WHOO hOOO! Then comes the Easter Bunny.Gabrielle continues to do very well in school. After the break on April 14 they start testing (iowa). So we will be practicing over break. Tomorrow the parents have a meeting @ school to get a practice book and important information.

I have new photos that I want to post, sometime this week.
So be on the look out.

Wishing everyone a very Happy Easter!

Update Sunday Jan 21, 2008
Yesterday Gabby's beloved rabbit, Bun-Bun went to Heaven. We love u bun-bun
Gabby was so heart broken. We stood on the porch & cried after I put him in a box to bury.
We had to go get another bunny. She picked out a white one, a little boy which she named luckey(looks just like bun-bun)and he is so tiny. I do not think he has even had a chance to hop aroung yet. I'm sure his little feet will stay clean for a while.
Sheena P.S. I posted a new slide show. Enjoy! These were taken on my parents porch b/f going to girl scout meeting.
I have also put up a new pic of luckey in the photo album

WOW! Time is flying. January is half way over.
We are all finally starting to feel better. All thru the holidays we had the crud.

It is GIRL SCOUT COOKIE time!!!! We have been attending cookie rally's and selling cookies!!! So much fun. I can't wait to deliver all of them. HAHA
Gabby is doing great with her sales. If any one is interested (& live close by) let me know if you want some cookies!!!

We are enjoying this new year so far. This is it...I am ready to loose weight & feel great! My brother is getting married in Sept. and I want to look good to fit into a dress. Gabby will be the flower girl. She is so excited!!!

Gabby continues to do very well in school. Her teacher is back from maternity leave and we are so happy. She continues to do dancing as well(and is a very good dancer).
They received one of their review costumes and she has worn it every afternoon after school. She walks around the living room just turning & twirling.

Next month will be 4 years since Gabrielle has been in remission. For that I am so very thankful. We do not return to St. Jude for our next check-up until June 16th. WOW!!! it is nice not having to go every 3 or 6 months.

Enjoying a new year
Sheena & Gabrielle

What a wonderful Christmas celebration we had this year!
Everything was great. Santa was very nice this year.
We all tried not to forget why we celebrate Christmas in the first place; because everyone had too many presents to open.

I have a story to share: All through December while Gabrielle has been anticipating the arrival of Santa I tried to tell her that we really celebrate Jesus' b-day and that Santa does not always bring everything that we put on our list.
So after we woke on Christmas morning adn everyone opened gifts I went to take bath and gabby came in and sat on the toilet. She looked at me (so seriously) and said "Mom, I can not believe that Santa came because I was not good this year." I did not know whether to laugh or cry.
So she knows that she has been giving me some trouble.

Maybe this will help things out a little that she has realized her behavior has not been too good @ times.

Well it has really tugged @ my heart since she said that.
I am so thankful for this year and all of the time I have been able to spend with Gabrielle. I have really been fortunate with my job to be able to work some & got to school too.
We are thrilled that she is so healthy & does not have to go to St. Jude until the summer time.

Praying that the new year brings only good news for all & that your families may always have Hope.

Until the new year,
Sheena

Added 12/27/07
I forgot to mention that Santa brought Gabby a WII and 2 games.

From our family members she recieved three sets of p.j.'s, some money, a battleship torpedo game, some warm fuzzy socks, and some cool princess press-on nails.

Her dad & brother & I gave her some Hannah Montana pj's, a singing Hannah Montana doll, a cheerleading barbie and her grandparents gave her a baby alive, a bingo game, doll clothes for her american girl doll and lots of princess dress-up clothes.

She has so many cool toys and clothes.

Saturday, November 10, 2007 6:47 PM CST

WOW!!!! We are already in November.
Gabby & I have been staying very busy. In between dancing, cheerleading, & girl scouts. Gabrielle decided to sit out of the rest of cheerleading for this year. It is too much. She still tires easily and is not always up to practice after school.
Last weekend november 2-4 we had our very first girl scout camp out @ Yogi Bear park in Robert, LA. it was so much fun. All the girls had a blast. There was so m uch to do. On sat. we started out (after breakfast of pancakes) @ the flag ceremony around 9:30 and then we were gonna do a hayride around 10:00. Well the hayride trailor had a flat so we could not that. All the girls had disposable cameras for a scavenger hunt. Along the way during activities thru out the day we had a list of things to take pics in front of. That was a great idea for the girls.
After the uncompleted hayride we went to the paddel boats. Gabby did not want to do that so we mined for rocks & gems.
That was s oemthing that she really enjopyed. After the third bag of rocks we went play putt-putt golf.
Then we had lunch. We got to see Cindy Bear & Yogi Bear:)
Some of us went back to the cabins to chill and then we headed to ceraminc creations & later played @ the park.
After eating spagetti we all went to a girl scout social/dance. The girls all enjoyed dancing. I must say they can dance very well!
We came home on sunday and wanted to rest!!!

This weekend is the cracklin festival in Port Barre, LA.
This morning we went to the pareade. Tomorrow we will go to the festival.

Sometimes I do not know what to update or if I should update @ all. But I have decided to keep updating so Gabby will have this later on in life.

Blessings to all & Happy Fall Ya'll
Sheena & Gabrielle

Friday October 19, 2007
We carved our pumpkin tonight.

Well, maw-maw's surgery went well.

Gabrielle has had a little cold(cough, runny nose, ect)since friday night. Yesterday when she came home from school she said she was tired & went to lie down. She could not rest & I could tell she was very irritable.
She started to cry 7 would not tell me what was wrong...finally hours later she told me her ear hurt & it was making a cracking noise.

So to the ENT we went this a.m. I am so glad they worked us in so fast....we were in & out unlike our pediatrician who told me to bring her in & then they said they could not see her:)

So we are on antibiotics, ear drops & zyrtec again!

Hopefully no more pain tonight.
Thanks goodness it's just an old ear infection & nothing else:)

Thanks for checking in....To all our Wilm's friends you all are in our thoughts & prayers

May God Bless you,
Sheena & Gabrielle

Saturday, October 13, 2007 10:26 AM CDT

Sunday, October 14

My mom (Gabby's grandma) needs your prayers tomorrow. She is having foot surgery.
thanks ,
Sheena & Gabbylou

O.K. Not much going on here...Just enjoying life!

We went to the football game last night(Port Barre's Homecoming)
Of course we won. Gabby & I had a great time...but I guess I'll have to start watching the weather...It has started turning cooler. It is nice weaqtehr but not when you are ein the cool air at a football game with no jacket...So this moring we are coughing and sneezing.
Besides the "normal" cold we are doing great.

Gabrielle is so glad it is getting cooler b/c she says "winter is coming and Christmas is in the Winter time"!!!

She wants everything she sees on TV!! HAHAHA

The following is something that I came across on paper as I was cleaning this a.m. and wanted to share:

GOD'S TRUTH FOR EVERYDAY OF THE REST OF YOUR LIFE

God is good. God is good. God is good.
God Heals-but he does it in his own way. And he wants to heal the whole person not just a disease.
Death happens-but Christ is the Lord of death. So death is really just a change of address.
Anything that ever happens to us can be a building block for God's kingdom.
Every moment of our lives is an extravagant gift grom God who loves you! Don't forget to say Thank You!

Emilie Barnes

Here is a message that gabrielle will type:
hello everyone
happy october
i love everyone

god is great

love, gabrielle

Tuesday, September 25, 2007 3:02 PM CDT

I guess it is time for an update:)

Sometimes I really do not know what to update anymore b/c we are no longer on treatment and just enjoying life.

Yesterday Paul & I went eat at Chili's (Gabby was at dancing). We were seated at the exact same post as last year.
I thought that was cool. There were so many Chili Pepper's colored everywhere.

Gabrielle has been enjoying dancing and starts cheerleading today(weather permitting) Flea/Fly. She is on the Flea team.

She has really been doing great in school too. I have offered the teacher to volunteer on friday afternoons(when I do not have class)and she asked me to do storytime. So my 1st time was last friday. I think that is something that I will really enjoy. Even gabby said she likes for me to do that.

Thanks for stopping by!
Sheena & Gabrielle

September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month

Please wear - GOLD RIBBONS -to show your support.

Kids Get Cancer Too!

Cancer in children is more common that most people realize. Childhood cancers behave very differently than adult cancers and the survival statistics are not as promising. Furthermore, the incidence of childhood cancer seems to be increasing. Please join us in increasing awareness of childhood cancer facts and statistics.

-Cancer is the number one killer of children by disease. It is the second leading cause of all childhood deaths exceeded only by accidents.
-One in 330 children will develop cancer before the age of 20.
-On average, 46 children are diagnosed with cancer every day in the United States.
-Approximately 12,400 children were diagnosed with cancer in the year 2000.
-Each year, about 3,000 children die from cancer - more than from asthma, diabetes, cystic fibrosis, congenital anomalies, and pediatric AIDS combined.
-Only about 20f adults with cancer show evidence that the disease has spread to distant sites on the body at diagnosis yet 80f children are diagnosed with advanced disease.
-In the past 20 years only one new cancer drug has been approved for pediatric use.
-Only 3 f the budget from the National Cancer Institute goes towards Pediatric Cancer research. (That's 3 or ALL kinds of Pediatric Cancers combined!)
-The incidence of childhood cancer is increasing. The cause of this is unknown.
-Pediatric cancer funding is nominal in comparison to other more publicized diseases such as pediatric AIDS or juvenile diabetes which increases awareness each year.
-Most adult cancers result from lifestyle factors such as smoking, diet, occupation, and exposure to cancer-causing agents. The cause of most childhood cancers in unknown.
-Approximately 70f children with cancer participate in research trials compared to only 3f adult cancer patients. As a result, many of the advances in adult cancer treatments are due to breakthroughs in childhood cancer research.
-The government recently CUT the budget for Childhood Cancer research.
-As a nation, we spend $14 BILLION per year on the space program, but only $35 MILLION on childhood cancer research per year.
-The symbol for childhood cancer is the gold ribbon.-

How You Can Help:

Wear a gold ribbon.
Have a car wash, garage sale, bake sale or any special event and donate the proceeds to the childhood cancer organization of your choice.
Go through old video tapes, DVDs and CDs to donate to your local Children's Hospital
Ask your Student Council or PTO for help in getting your (or your child's) school involved.
Get your church youth groups involved.
Host an Alex's Lemonade Stand.

Educate youth by having them donate their allowance earned for the month of September.
Participate in Locks of Love.
Donate blood.
Join the National Bone Marrow Registry.
Email Oprah requesting a pediatric cancer show.
Support the Conquer Childhood Cancer Act.

Organize a drive for Kids Cancer Crusade.

Copy, post and circulate this information.
Support the kids fighting by leaving them messages on their pages and remembering them in your prayers.

Reminder: Eat at Chili's On September 24th-all proceeds from that day will be donated to St. Jude. GO CHILI's

Good morning everyone,

We have been in Galveston since sunday with my parents. We arrivd back home yesterday aftenoon.
Gabrielle had a great time. We wanted to have a little vacation before school starts tomorrow.

On sunday afternoon we stayed on the beach. We went to Schlitterbahn water park and had a blast. We spent all day monday there.
We played putt-putt golf tuesday and went to the Aquarium pyramid at Moody Gardens.
And of course we swam everyday at the pool.
We did some shopping also:)

Gabby is not ready for school.
Her teacher will be Mrs. Griffin. She is pregnant and is due in October. I am kinda nervous about that but we'll see how it goes. I am not sure that I am ready for her to go back.

I should be getting the internet hook up again soon since I'll be taking web classes this fall so I'll update pics soon
Thanks for your continued prayers for Gabrielle,
Sheena

Tuesday, July 31, 2007 2:22 PM CDT

Yesterday, Gabrielle & I (along with ^Zoie^'s mom, brother, & grandma) went to Baton Rouge for a visit at the St. Jude affiliate clinic. We brought toys for the boys & girls there. Gabby was so happy to do that.

We were able to visit & take pics with the nurses and secretary & Dr. Moore. Our favorite nurse MRS. KIM, was on vacation and Dr. Deyo was making rounds in the hospital.
But that's o.k. b/c that gives us another reason to go back & visit.

After the clinic visit we headed to the Disney store and did a little shopping. Then we went eat & Macaroni grill.
We had a very good day! Thanks for coming Chasity, Baby Mason, & Zoie's Momo Monkey. I know it is not easy for you guys to go to those places without Zoie.
We are glad you all came.

Well Gabrielle will be starting first grade on August 10th.
I do no think is she ready:( I am not for sure
And I will be back in school also.

Thanks to all for your continued prayers and support.
Sheena & Gabrielle

Tuesday, July 24, 2007 10:54 PM CDT

Gabrielle had a very good time in Austin.

Tomorrow Gabby & I will head to Breaux Bridge for girl scout day camp. It is for three days, where we will drive and come back everyday. She is not too excited about it:(
I think it will be great for her.

I have a couple of stories to share(things gabby said today)
I have a pic of my brother & I when I was 4 and he was 3. We were holding some puppies. I showed gabrielle and she was questioning me about them-oh sha. Where are they? Did they die?
I told her no but popa(my dad) gave them away when he quit rabbit hunting. I explained that they were rabbit dogs and they would catch rabbits.
So she looked at me with a puzzled look and asked"you mean they were half rabbit and half dog?"
I just laughed and had to explain it to again.

Later Mitchell was on the computer and she was fixing toast(on wheat bread-i do not thinnk she has ever eaten wheat bread before) She asked Mitchell if he wanted toast & butter and he said do not toast it just put butter(he did know is was wheat bread).
She brings it to him and he says"I do not like wheat bread." Gabby says"I like wheat bread. I think i will start eating that from now on because it is healthier for me than white bread ya know."
She is actually listening to stuff we tell her. HAHA
She is such a silly willy girl.

I must say I have seen so many changes in Gabbylou this summer. She is now 6 and there are times I just can not believe what I am seeing or hearing.

Last night she went in her brothers room and folded all his clothes that their dad put on the bed and hung up every shirt and saved every short in the drawer.
She has been fixing her own toast and even bathing her self and dressing herself in the mornings when I am at work. GO GABBY!!! I am soo proud of you even though I still love to help you get dressed I know the time is coming when you will not even want me in your room at times.

I spoke to Chasity(^Zoie's^ mom) and we will plan to go to the affiliate clinic in Baton Rouge on Monday.
I hope we can make and they will be able to come.
I have a bag of toys to bring to the kids there.

I bet they will not even recognize Gabrielle. I am so excited about going visit.

Thanks for checking in on Gabrielle

I have copied this from ^ANGEL^ Landon's journal and just had to post. THIS IS AMAZING.

The Brave Little Soul

By John Alessi

Not too long ago in Heaven, there was a little soul who took wonder in observing the world. He especially enjoyed the love he saw there and often expressed this joy with God. One day, however, the little soul was sad, for on this day he was suffering in the world. He approached God and sadly asked, “Why do bad things happen; why is there suffering in the world?”

God paused for a moment and replied, “Little soul, do not be sad, for the suffering you see, unlocks the love in people’s hearts.” The little soul was confused. “What do you mean?”, he asked. God replied, “Have you not noticed the goodness and love that is the offspring of that suffering? Look at how people come together, drop their differences and show their love and compassion for those who suffer. All their other motivations disappear and they become motivated by love alone.”

The little soul began to understand and listened attentively as God continued, “The suffering soul unlocks the love in people’s hearts much like the sun and the rain unlock the flower within the seed. I created everyone with endless love in their hearts, but unfortunately most people keep it locked up and hardly share it with anyone. They are afraid to let their love shine freely, because they are afraid of being hurt. But a suffering soul unlocks that love. I tell you this - it is the greatest miracle of all. Many souls have bravely chosen to go into the world and suffer - to unlock this love - to create this miracle - for the good of all humanity.”

Just then the little soul got a wonderful idea and could hardly contain himself. With his wings fluttering, bouncing up and down, the little soul excitedly replied, “I am brave; let me go! I would like to go into the world and suffer so that I can unlock the goodness and love in people’s hearts! I want to create that miracle!”

God smiled and said, “You are a brave soul I know, and thus I will grant your request. But even though you are very brave you will not be able to do this alone. I have known since the beginning of time that you would ask for this and so I have carefully selected many souls to care for you on your journey. Those souls will help you create your miracle; however they will also share in your suffering. Two of these souls are most special and will care for you, help you, and suffer along with you, far beyond the others. They have already chosen a name for you.”

God and the brave little soul shared a smile, and then embraced. In parting, God said, “Do not forget little soul that I will be with you always. Although you have agreed to bear the pain, you will do so through my strength. And if the time should come when you feel that you have suffered enough, just say the word, think the thought, and you will be healed.”

Thus at that moment the brave little soul was born into the world, and through his suffering and God’s strength, he unlocked the goodness and love in people’s hearts. For so many people dropped their differences and came together to show their love. Priorities became properly aligned. People gave from their hearts. Those that were always too busy found time. Many began new spiritual journeys - some regained lost faith - many came back to God. Parents hugged their children tighter. Friends and family grew closer. Old friends got together and new friendships were made. Distant family reunited, and every family spent more time together. Everyone prayed. Peace and love reigned. Love changed forever. It was good. The world was a better place. The miracle had happened. God was pleased…

Last night 07-08 Gabrielle lost another tooth on the bottom. Now she has lost all 4 on the bottom. Too cute. She has the two right in front but the two on the sides are empty!
She has a thing about the tooth fairy taking her teeth. She does not want her to take them to the tooth garden:)
So I had to call the tooth fairy and since she was out collecting teeth last night I left her a message with Gabby's request and I guess she got it b/c she did not take her tooth!

This morning when I woke up, Gabby was in bed w/me and she sais she woke up in the night and saw a light in the kitchen and got scared. She thought the tooth fairy was in the kitchen:) She said she was crying in the bathroom and her daddy put her in my bed.
Poor baby! But I had to laugh b/c I remember when I waould get scared like that. MEMORIES, MEMORIES, MEMORIES
We are so blessed to be able to continue making bitter sweet memories with our lovely daughter.

UUGGGGHHH!! I just typed a whole new(long, very long) journal entry and now it is lost somewhere in cyber space.

Talk about frustrasting b/c I am at work and do no have time to type another since I no longer have internet at home.

Well Gabby is officially 6 years old.

Since my heart felt(long) journal is gone I will shorten it:

Yesterday we went to Chuck-E-Cheese's with Gabby's cousin Vincent who will be 3 next week and celebrated his & her b-days. It was so much fun.

I have been cherishing every living moment with my wonderful gift from God: Gabrielle Louise Biba

We have our moments and our days where she pushes my buttons-but she is so amazing I just look past those times and see the good times cause we do have alot of them!

Please keep ^ANGEL^ Landon's parents in your prayers
www.caringbridge/visit/landonpitre

Thanks for all of the b-day wishes

Proud to be Gabrielle's mommy

WOW! It has been a while since my last update.

I have put up two new slide shows of Gabrielle before diagnosis and I am working on another.

On Saturday the 30th we celebrated Gabrielle's 6th birthday at the skating rink.(she will officially be 6 on JULY 5th)
But since we had her party we do say she is now 6 because she really wants to be 6:)
I am so glad we decided to have a skating party. She had a blast. We had the skating rink for 3 hours and believe me Gabrielle skated for 3 hours.
She received lots of presents and cards. (roller blades, helmet, american girl doll w/lots of furniture and accessories, a beach bay w/matching towel w/her name on it,a bead making kit, a lifesize princess poster to paint & color, a hannah montana cd, flower pots to paint & plant seeds & money)
I think her fav is the american girl doll from her mimi & pop! It is fabulous. She has not put it down since Saturday:)

On our cancer journey note: I have sent the last set of CT's done here to memphis for their radiologist to review and I am waiting to hear back from them this week. I'll keep you posted as to what they interpret from the object in her colon................maybe a hair ball or wad of gum??? Who knows...I just know it is not caner!

We plan on spending the 4th just relaxing, cooking some hot dogs, and swimming, and of course popping some fireworks!

On thursday, Gabrielle's real b-day, we may go to chuck-e-cheese's or the kart ranch. I want to go to the kart ranch but we'll let gabbylou decide.
I'll get some party pics posted but I am behind since I no longer have internet at home and now I have to scan pics at work(and they do not post great)

Thanks for checking in.
May everyone have a safe 4th of July holiday
Sheena & Gabrielle

Tuesday, June 19, 2007 2:52 PM CDT

We are back home from Memphis with great results.
Blood test, u/a, chest xray, and ultrasound all came out good. Gabrielle is still in remission and we do not have to go back to memphis until next summer.
I did have a discussion w/Susan the Nurse Practicioner and Dr. McGregor about the CT that Gabby had done a couple of months ago when she had abd pain and they wanted those films and the report so I had them mailed today and will be waiting to hear what they have to say about the unidentified thing in her colon.

We flew out of lafayette sunday afternoon arriving in Memphis at 6:05. At the airport we met a very sweet girl, Reese and her mom Brandi, who are from Louisiana also. Reese has ALL and is 2 years old. She is such a beautiful little girl who is so outgoing and full of life just like Gabrielle. Thanks Brandi for entertaining Gabby also on the ride to the Grizzly House!
Please keep Reese and her family in your prayers as her battle continues: www.caringbridge.org/visit/reesegodchaux

After arriving at the grizzly house we went to ride the trolly down to Peabody mall but I did not know that the trolly does not run after 6:00 on sundays so we called a cab and played games at Jillians' and ate there too.
We had lots of fun! GABBY IS SUCH A HOOT

On monday I woke up early and went get some coffee down stairs. I woke Gabby at around 7:30 and she got dressed and was ready to go with hardly no whining about her shot.
We went to A/t and had our blood drawn by Mr. "G" .
"GABBY-MOMMY IS SO VERY PROUD OF YOU SWEET PEA!"
Then off to xray where we had no wait at all.
After eating breakfast we made necklace name tags in the lobby with Shelbi Mae from Monroe. Shelbi needs your prayers as she is doing treatment again for a brain tumor that had a little growth. Stop by her page and shower her with some prayers also: www.caringbridge.org/visit/shelbimae

After seeing the Dr around 1:40 we headed to the gift shops and did some retail therapy and then we went chill at the Grizzly House until the van picked us to go to the airport.
We had dinner with Reese and her mom and then we parted ways to catch our flights only to find out that our flight had been delayed for 2 hours b/c they had no flight crew:)
If I had know we would have had a delay of 2 hours we would have taken our time eating!!!
So instead of getting home at 9:30 we got home at 11:50.

Thanks to all for your continued prayers and support
Gabrielle's proud mommy,
*Sheena*

This past Saturday, June 9th, Gabrielle completed her second dance review. She did great and had a blast doing it:)
I really enjoyed watching her dance away on stage as if she had been dancing all her life.
I am thinking of posting pictures from her dance review.

Gabrielle's brother is here at their dad's for the summer. She was so happy to see him. They surprised her at one of her dance practices last week. She has been spending lots of time with him.

We have our plane tickets and are ready to fly out on sunday afternoon. Please pray for a safe flight there and back for Gabrielle & I.
If all goes according to schedule we will satrt with assessment & triage(blood work & u/a) at 8:30 followed by u/s of abdomen and cxr then see the Dr at 12:00 noon.

I will update when we return.
May you all have a very safe and fun weekend

Friday, June 1, 2007 11:24 AM CDT

Yesterday I was honored to have the opportunity to pay my respects to "KING" Landon & his family.
I was able to talk with Dear Mom, ANGIE. (Please keep his parents in your thoughts and prayers)
She is so strong and faithful. I pray God gives her the strength to carry on. She said Landon would not want to see her sad. I know she will have both good and bad days ahead. I pray more good for her. I just can not imagine.

Today Gabrielle & I attended a cancer survivor celebration here at My work(opelousas general)along with my grandmother, her friend, and my mother. It was very nice. Gabrielle received a little teddy bear for being the youngest cancer survivor. She was so proud of herself. I just sat there and cried:) Of course, I was very thankful.
When the CEO got up to make his speech he spoke about a nurse (MS. ANNA JOYCE)telling him a story about a 5 year old boy who was receiving treatments at St. Jude and when he read the newspaper yesterday he saw that little boys picture. I just cried again cause today Landon is pain free!
FLY LANDON FLY! You are now "KING" of Jesus' jungle.

I ask for your prayers for Gabrielle in the upcoming weeks as this visit to St. Jude on June 18th is a very important one for us. If all goes well as we expect, June 18th will be our last 6th month check-up. Gabrielle should be moving along to yearly visits to St. Jude. I am so overwhelmed with lots of mixed emotions. I am so proud of my daughter.
She is so strong, so brave, so loving, so funny, & so full of life. She is what keeps me going when the going gets tough.
We have our moments when her behavior is not what I expect, but I am so ever thankful she is here alive & well.

Proud mommy
Sheena

Thanks to all of the wonderful staff at CB for helping get Gabrielle's guestbook squared away!

I have been so sad just thinking that I would not be able to access it again. Well now I am happy again. They have deleted what ever entry was the bad one that made popups come up and put a little bug in mu computer.

So guess what....you can start signing it again. YEAH!!!

*******URGENT*******
If you are trying to sign Gabby's guestbook DO NOT OPEN IT!!!!!
Some STUPID person who has nothing else to do has put a virus in it. When I try to read it I get an alert from MALWARE ALARM...IT IS A SCAM! I hope it has not affected any of your computers. I'm sorry if it did. It infected my computer...but not too bad before I could clean it up!!!
I Am so angry that they have such cruel people out there:( So i have decided to remove all of Gabby's pictures!

I will try to continue to check on our friends...no- not try to but I will continue to check on our friends while I try to get my guestbook saved and printed for Gabrielle. How could someone mess that up for her. One day she will want to see all of the messages from her supporters and prayer warriors. Obviousely the person who did this needs prayers said for him/her! AMEN

Good morning,

I'm here to say Gabrielle is doing Great!
Today is her last day of Kindergarten.
WOW!! Time has just passed by so fast.
She will be going to first grade.
I no longer have a baby girl.

She is getting so tall and very independent. She has always been that way. Oh and everything has to go her way or no way. We are working on that. And if i tell her no her new thing to tell me is "I'm not your friend, and you are not coming to my birthday party."
Oh the wonderful things she has learned at school this year.
Next year I hope she will be withe different classmates. This year was rough. It seemed like all the same personality's were together in one class. I am sure their teacher is ready for summer:) Ha Ha Ha
Getting ready to enjoy our summer
Sheena & Gabrielle

Please keep our friend, LANDON PITRE, and his family in your thoughts & prayers. They have turned to Hospice to come in and help care for "KING" Landon.

The stone...after the throw!
The word...after it is said!
The occasion...after the loss!
The time...after it is gone!

Thanks to all who have checked in and said prayers...Gabrielle had her shot and has started augmentin orally and we will see the Dr. again next tuesday.

She also has lost another tooth. This is her 3rd tooth.
So the tooth fairy has to get ready to pass:)

Thursday May 32, 2007
Gabrielle has pneumonia in both lungs...we are on our way to the Dr. to get a rocephin shot. Please pray that we will not have to be admitted into the hospital.
In need of prayers,
Sheena & Gabrielle

Prayers please

Gabrielle has been running fever since monday. She woke up sounding like a seal...we went to the Dr. and she said it was croup...gave us a cough med and we came home. Her fever went up monday afternoon to 102.0...tuesday afternoon fever was at 104.3...today we go back to the Dr.

I hope it is just viral...she has not had a fever that high since right before her diagnosis in 2003. I know a fever is caused b/c of an underlying problem or infection...praying it is just a viral infection. I know it is not relapse or anything likle that...She just feels horrible.

I'll update after our afternoon Dr. appt.

Thanks for the prayers

Sheena & Gabrielle

Here is a story that I copied from a childs page...Please help him reach his one wish to be a person to recieve the most b-day cards...

Bernier is a courageous seven-year-old boy from Lancaster, Ontario who was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia when he was only five. On June 6th, 2006 Shane and his family received some unfortunate news: Shane experienced a relapse after completing 108 of 130 weeks of treatment.

However, despite the bad news, Shane has managed to keep a positive outlook on his situation and has made a heart-warming wish... He hasn’t asked for money or toys or anything of the sort. Instead, his birthday is on May 30th and he would like to break the world record for the most birthday cards ever received. His goal is 350 million cards. With every card, Shane’s courage grows. Something as simple as sending a birthday card could be enough to help Shane find peace and joy in his current circumstances.

Please take the time to send a card to Shane and make his dream become a reality. Share his story with your friends, family and co-workers. If at all possible, get your youth groups, church congregations, employees, neighbours or communities to set aside a few minutes to write a thoughtful note to Shane.

With every card, Shane’s smile grows...

Shanes website is: www.shaneswish.com
If you can please take time to send him a card...we did

I have added a new slide show above. Hope you enjoy.

I hope everyone had a very Blessed Easter.
Our Easter was wonderful. Sunday we were surrounded with all or our family members. The kids had lots of fun easter egg hunting and so did the Grown-ups!!! We had lots of good food too:)

Gabrielle is feeling better. We are trying to get rid of a cough. I had to put her back on Zyrtec, hopefully she can stay clear now.

Wednesday April 4, 2007 6:59 p.m.
The diagnosis is:::::::::::STREP THROAT
After sitting 2 1/2 hours in the Dr. Office with Gabrielle telling me every 3 minutes she did not want a poke they finally did a throat swab after we saw the Dr. You would have thought she was getting a poke because we had 4 nurses and myself holding her...she kicked her boots off and bit down on the tongue depressor and would not let it go. It was crazy. My poor baby is scarred for life.
So we are on antibiotics for 10 days. She took it well tonight considering she told me she was not taking no medicine because her throat did not hurt:) It is so funny how it hurt yesterday and not today when she has strep:) Silly kiddos.
So here goes more medicine into my baby's body...Now I need something to rid her little body of all the toxins that have been in her.
Feeling like taking no more medicine,
Sheena & Gabrielle

I know it has been a while since my last update. SSOOO BUSY!
Today we saw the most beautiful rainbow right over our house. It looked like the rainbows u only see in pictures. Very big and bright. I have never seen the whole rainbow like I did today at 6:40 p.m.

Tomorrow Gabby is having an Easter Egg hunt at school in the morning and a party in the afternoon.

We see the pediatrician tomorrow afternoon also. Gabrielle has a frog in her throat. HA HA. Not really...but she does sound like one:)
I hope it is not strep. I just commented to another mother that we had never had it:)
It is so funny how that happens.

Wishing everyone a Very Hoppy and Blessed Easter.

With Love,
Sheena & Gabrielle

Here is a message from Gabrielle:
i love u baby mason jude AND megan and baby aiden michael

This sentence was all gabby's idea...chasity/travis, if u read this please know that she talks about him & zoie all the time:)

Thursday, March 22, 2007 6:06 PM CDT

We had a check up with our pediatrician this a.m. for her to evaluate Gabrielle. All went well. There is some fluid in her colon and in the pelvic cavity...which may suggest her getting over a stomach bug(gastroenteritis).
There is alao a 5x8 mm unidentifiable object in her colon and we have figured it to maybe hair. Gabrielle twirls and pulls her hair and puts it in her mouth. She has been doing that for about 2 years. Hopefully I can get her to stop and she will pass it. She is a nervous little girl.

We will check up with the Dr. in a month.
Gabrielle does have a very small hernia on the right side of her belly button. It has not gotten any bigger and does not seem to be bothering her. (It is probably from her having her incision on the right side?)

I have noticed the number of visitors in the last couple of days and I want to say a big "THANKS" to all of our Wilm's families and friends who have checked in and prayed for good results. It means so much to me and Gabbylou too.

A very Blessed and Happy mom,
Sheena

There are new pics on the slide show. They were taken in the last week. Check 'em out!

March 20, 2007
I spoke with the nurse at the pediatricians office and she said it looked like gabby had a little bit of constipation...and the Dr. wants to see us in her office thursday morning??? So I'll update after our Dr. visit. I'm sure all is well. Please continue to pray. Thanks for all the thoughts and prayers during this panicky time.

Gabby did do very well with the Ct after we calmed her down. We had the numbing cream(magic sunscreen) on her hand and she did not even move when they put the I.V. in. They did have to stick her twice and she knew they were wiggling the needle around but she did great. So we made a trip to Wal-mart after to get a few surprises, of course. After we got home sghe said, "Mom that did not hurt, well just a little, but I did so good." She also thinks our local hospital should give out suckers for kids like her and she said she should have gotten two.
I just love the way she thinks:) She ia a little hoot!

Sheena

March 19, 2007
URGENT PRAYER REQUEST:
Today Gabrielle will have a CT of the Abdomen done at our local hospital. She has been having abdominal pains for about one month now. She does not know that this will be done today. Please pray for all to go well and that we will be able to get it done and especially that the results be CLEAR. She has not had a CT in almost 2 years. She hates pokes and Iv's. I'll update this afternoon.
Thanks,
Sheena (mom to a wonderful daughter)

So much going on here. We are just enjoying the great weather. A little rain here and there but that's o.k. cause then we have mud puddles:)

NEW PICS IN THE PHOTO ALBUM!!!

March 15, 2007
This came to me in an email and I wanted to post it.

Dancing With God

When I meditated on the word Guidance,

I kept seeing "dance" at the end of the word.

I remember reading that doing God's will is a lot like dancing.

When two people try to lead, nothing feels right.

The movement doesn't flow with the music,

and everything is quite uncomfortable and jerky.

When one person realizes that, and lets the other lead,

both bodies begin to flow with the music.

One gives gentle cues, perhaps with a nudge to the back

or by pressing Lightly in one direction or another.

It's as if two become one body, moving beautifully.

The dance takes surrender, willingness,

and attentiveness from one person

and gentle guidance and skill from the other.

My eyes drew back to the word Guidance.

When I saw "G: I thought of God, followed by "u" and "i".

"God, "u" and "i" dance."

God, you, and I dance.

As I lowered my head, I became willing to trust

that I would get guidance about my life.

Once again, I became willing to let God lead.

My prayer for you today is that God's blessings

and mercies be upon you on this day and everyday.

May you abide in God as God

abides in you.

Dance together with God, trusting God to lead

and to guide you through each season of your life.

This prayer is powerful and there is nothing attached.

If God has done anything for

you in your life,

please share this message with someone else,

for prayer is one of the best gifts we can receive.

There is no cost but a lot of rewards;

so let's continue to pray for one another.

And I Hope You Dance

I had a great day today! This afternoon Gabrielle sang Happy Birthday to me. My mom had bought two little cakes, one cookie cake and the other was a strawberry cheesecake pound cake(it was delicious).
Today I signed up to be a chemo angel. I have been waiting for two years to sign up. I was always too young, so I would just mail cards to different friends, now I will hopefully qualify and become a full time chemo angel forever!!!

I am asking for our CB friends to please pray for Madelyn Beamon. She is from Tn and goes to St. Jude also. She has NB and has had a relapse. Her mom is soon to be expecting baby #3. Madelyn is such a truly beautiful little girl.
Please visit her site www.caringbridge.org/tn/madelyn. There family could use your prayers also

This afternoon Gabrielle & I made some chewy fudge brownies. (They were supposed to be made on thursday, my birthday, but we could not wait). She is a little baker. Always wanting to bake a cake, or cookies, or brownies. I guess she gets it from me. I love to bake. I would rather be baking instead of cooking!!! HA HA:)And everyone knows that because I do not cook!

Thanks for stopping by and letting us know yuou were here.
Now that Gabrielle is reading we have been reading thru the guestbook. She really surprises everyday. She knows alot more words than just the ones she has been tested on!!! Such a smart little girl.

I have been really enjoying my time in the afternoons being able to help Gabrielle with her homework since I only work part-time and I am in school myself.

WHO DAT? WHO DAT?

GGGGOOOOOOOOOOOO SAINTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

WHERE HAS THE TIME GONE??? I have not even had time to post christmas pictures.

Well Gabrielle has been out Monday, Tuesday, & Wednesday this week from school because of the possibility of icy roads yesterday. What icy roads? I made it to work just fine. Those kids have too much time off from school. We do not get icy roads here in south Louisisna. Any who!
I must say she did not want to go back this morning.
The weather here has been just crummy. So cold and wet. Not your typical Louisiana weather!!!

I have started another semester at school myself. Gabrielle has a spelling test tomorrow. She has been having reading, math, & spelling test. She is doing so good in school. I am so proud of "my little sunshine."

Thanks to all who still check in and pray for Gabrielle.
Sheena

Saturday, December 23, 2006 3:51 PM CST

Well, All I can say is that my Christmas prayers have come true. Gabrielle is still in remission.

We made it to Memphis Wednesday night. On the way there St. Jude had been trying to contact us to let us know that our schedule was changed for the following day.
Instead of seeing the Dr. at 11:00 we would see him at 2:00. That meant we could not drive home on thursday like we had planned so I could go to work. So we were able to go play at Jillians again. No big deal! That's the best place to go in Memphis according to Gabrielle.

We started our morning off with assessment and triage at 8:00. I must say that Gabrielle did really well getting her poke(blood drawn). Mr G (gerald) is so awesome. Then we headed to xray at 8:30 for our ultrasound and chest xray. We were able to do both, one after the other.

Santa came to visit Memphis(the St. Jude kids)in the pavillion and he sure did bring lots and lots of toys for the special boys and girls. Gabrielle received an barbie with a jeep and a book from Santa. Seeing Gabrielle on Santa's lap at St. Jude brought tears to my eyes. Happy tears because she is here with us and doing so well and sad tears as I thought of so many of friends who have earned their angel wings and are spending Christmas in Heaven without their parents and loved ones.

After seeing Santa we went to get lunch at a Bar-B-Q place (rendezvous) but they did not open until 4:30 so we went to TGI Fridays. Then headed back to the hospital for our appointment with Dr. Furman at 2:00. This was supposed to be our first time seeing Dr. Furman since Dr. Santana and Dr. Dome are gone. But dr. Furman wa snot in. So we saw Dr. Daw and I love her, Gabby does too!!!

Dr. Daw informed us that Gabrielle's uric acid level was within normal range and we were pleased. The last two visits it had been elevated and we were a little concerned(yeah right, alot concerned). Her xray and u/s was normal except for no right kidney and that is o.k.!!!

We then headed over to our room at the Grizzly house to rest(room #2003) that was not a good year for us).

Every visit to Memphis we make sure to eat at Joe's crab shack and this visit we were surprised that it was closed down...so guess what??? We went back to Jillians!!!

Thanks to all for your continued prayers and support,
Sheena & Gabrielle

May God Bless-Merry Christmas & Happy New Year

Today Gabrielle lost her first tooth at school.
Check out the photo album for before and after pics.

Sheena

****************Update****************
Tuesday December 12, 2006
Today Gabrielle pulled out another tooth at school. That Tooth Fairy will pass again. Last night he brought $1.00

Gabrielle said she felt when the tooth fairy picked up her pillow, and the tooth fairy HAS GREEN WINGS

Well the tooth fairy has brought $2.00 for the second tooth!!
WOW the tooth fairy must have had some money invested and pulled it out for this generation because I only received quarters, now she is handing out dollars left & right. HA! HA!

Sheena (mom to a wonderful daughter)

Monday December 18, 2006
We are leaving Wednesday to go to Memphis for what we pray will be our last 6 month check-up before we reach the year mark.
Please pray that Gabrielle remains in remission and can move on to yearly visits. We are so ready for this. My little girl is tired of going to Memphis and tired of getting pokes.(this is what she tells me)
I will update thursday afternoon after our Dr. visit.

Thanks so much for all of the prayers and support!

Happy Holidays
Sheena & Gabrielle

Saturday, November 4, 2006 9:21 PM CST

Last night Gabrielle & I went, along with my brother, to the Cajun Dome to see Jake Owen, Carrie Underwood, & Brad Paisley in concert. It was a great concert and we had a great time. Gabrielle did manage to take a nap after carrie Underwood came on.
We just love Carrie and her music(Brad too)!!!

Today gabrielle had a play date with a friend from school, Alyvia. They had lots of fun playing together.

Tomorrow is gabrielle's flea/fly game. She is a little cheerleader fior the fleas team.
GGGOOOOO FLEAS!!!!!

Thanks for your continued prayers and support for Gabrielle

Hello everyone

Hope your Halloween was just as fun as ours(spooky too)

Gabrielle has lots of fun trick-or-treating. This year she was into saying trick-or-trick and holding her bag for the candy to be put in.
She was going to dress as a cheerleader but the mosquitos were so bad we decided to just wear black pants with a black halloween t-shirt that had a cat on the front.
We filled up a bag with lots of treats.(too much candy)
ha ha

We are finally all starting to feel better. The crud is almost gone. I have prayed that we ar enot allergic to the new puppy. But i'm still not sure if that is it or not:(
I hope not. he is just si cute and playful...he does like to bite toes, which does not feel great...but he is so funny.

Gabrielle is doing really well in school. They are getting letter grades now in reading and math and she has an A in both sujects. Now conduct is another story...Let's just say she can not sit still nor be quite.

We have not forgottern about all of our wonderful Cb friends...just so busy but always thinking of you and keeping your families in our prayers.

Happy Fall
Sheena & Gabrielle

Monday, October 16, 2006 9:05 PM CDT

I am sad to say we did not get to go to the Survivor day conference in Memphis. We were so looking forward to this wonderful celebration. Unfortunantly, our household has this horrible respiratory infection that seems never ending. Gabrielle has had a cough for two weeks now. Then I got it. Now my parents have it...uuggghhhh
We have both been to the Dr. Gabrielle has had a chest xray done and were on cough/decongestant meds that just do not seem to be doing a thing.
So we have been getting rest, lots of rest for me. I think i was the worst. Now I feel a little better and Gabrielle's cough is worse.
She is still enjoying dancing and cheerleading.

Sunday, October 1, 2006 8:28 PM CDT

Today Gabrielle received her chihuaha(?). It is a male, named Tiny. And tiny it is. "Thanks to our special friends."
The dog has not touched the ground yet. On the way home it slept in Gabrielle's lap. We took him to the pet store to purchase, a collar, a leash, food, and shampoo. We even bought a book.

The dog will be treated like another child/grandchild(for my parents) around here. I'm getting excited about him being here too.

Tomorrow Gabrielle will start dancing again. (WELL we did not start dancing today) (We have a cough and she just wanted to stay with tiny(i think)
She is also a cheerlleader for the flea/fly teams at school for k-3rd graders. She is on the flea team. SO GO FLEAS!
She is a great cheerleader too. Loves to holler and jump up and down.

We can't complain here. Things are good.
Let's remember all of our Cb friends who are still fighting and the ones who have joined hands in Heaven

Thanks for your continued support to all who still check in and sign in
It means a great deal to us

On Friday the 13th Paul and gabrielle and I will be headed to St. Jude in Memphis for Survivor's Day! We are so blessed to be able to attend a wonderful celebration.

WOW!! This is a little late
September 5 marked the three year date from when our lives were turned upside down w/heart crushing news. Gabrielle has cancer. Here were are three years later and Gabrielle has NO CANCER!!! Thank you Lord
We have so much to be thankful for and are so blessed.

Tomorrow we are leaving to go to Biloxi, MS. Just a little getaway trip. We are so excited.

Gabrielle is enjoying school and doing fairly well. One thing I know is that she loves to talk, talk, talk. We are working on not speaking in class unless we raise our hand...mmmmmm She has gotten all checks on her homework. But sad faces in conduct. I guess my little princess is not so quite.

I have to say Congratulations to ^ANGEL^ Zoie's parents on the birth of their baby boy.

Friday, August 18, 2006 9:00 AM CDT

She had a great time.

Monday, July 3, 2006 10:35 AM CDT

We have had one very exciting weekend full of fun and birthday parties.

On friday night I took Gabrielle to build-a-bear workshop to do her birthday present. She picked out an orange kitty and named it Annie. Build-a-Bear is such a cool place. We had a good time there. They even sang Happy Birthday to Gabrielle.

Gabrielle's b-day is July 5th but we celebrated her party on Saturday at her dad's parents house with a Luau by the pool. It was such a blast and we had a great turnout. The weather held up pretty good. It only rained for a couple minutes. We swam, ate cupcakes and hot dogs and swam some more.

On Sunday Gabby's cousin Vincent has his 2nd b-day party and she swam some more.

For the 4th we really do not have big plans, maybe hang out by the pool and then get some rest.

I hope everyone has a safe 4th of July
****Pictures will posted this p.m. of her party****

Please leave Gabrielle a b-day message in the guestbook. She would really love that.

******July 6, 2006******
Last night I took Gabrielle to Chuck E. Cheese's. She had a blast. My brother(Gabby's Apam) and my parents came also. Chuck E. sang Happy B-day to Gabrielle and we played hundreds of games.
I can not believe my baby is 5 years old. We are getting ready for kindergarten. Buying uniforms & school supplies, etc. Time sure does fly by.

I love you gabbylou
Love, Mommy

*NEW PHOTOS ADDED* 7-7-06
Today Gabrielle had her 4-6 yr old shots. Let's just say she hates shots. But she did pretty well. She got 3 today and that will be all until she is 11 yrs old.

THANKS FOR ALL THE PRAYERS THAT WERE SAID FOR GABRIELLE

Short update: We drove back from St. Jude last night with very good news.
Gabrielle's scans were clear! Her labs looked good also.
Her Blood Pressure was high but probabaly because she was so nervous about getting her blood work done. Last visit her uric acid levels were elevated(high) and they were the same as last time so maybe that is a norm for her with her one kidney. Not too sure-I need to read up on uric acid levels. And will still try to find pediatric nephrologist here in La to follow up with if needed.
We did see Dr.Hamilton one last time. Gabrielle & I sure will miss him. We did not meet with Dr. Dome this visit but definantly will for our next visit.

We met up with Landon & his mommy they are also from Louisiana. It was great to see you Angie & Landon
Hopefully you can start chemo soon. That is our prayer for you
www.caringbridge/visit/landonpitre

We also bumped into Madelyn & her mommy as we were leaving.
Madelyn is from tennessee and she is doing so well. She looks really well also. Brandi & Maddie I'm so glad we were able to talk with you even though it was brief.
www.caringbridge.org/tn/madelyn

As I was talking to Brandi & Maddie I turned and saw Jake Owen raborn's mom behind me. Jake's family is also from La and he has been inpatient at St. Jude on the vent for some time now. He is such a special boy with a very special family. And they need your prayers too.
www.caringbridge.org/la/jakeowen

Please remember these wonderful children in your prayers.

Special Prayer request for my uncle:
He went to his Dr. in Baton Rouge Monday for the results of his test and the results were not what we were hoping for.

Well things have been great here for us this summer.
Although on yesterday on my way home I hit a huge yellow lab in my car...busted up 2 lights and scratched my bumper...poor dog. Gabrielle did not know what to say or think. I think she has forgotten about it now.

Gabrielle has just finished swimming lessons and had her dance review wednesday night 6-14-06.
She did so good for her review. I was so proud of her. She went out on that stage and danced like a little pro.
She had such a great time.

I will try to post pictures tomorrow 6-18-06

Happy Father's Day to all of you dad's out there.

Happy Father's Day daddy---Love, gabby:)

We will be headed to Memphis Monday- Please pray for a safe and uneventful trip and of course for great news from Gabrielle's scans. We want another all clear!!!
I received a letter in the mail from Dr. Santana. he is leaving for about 1 year and will then return. In the meantime Dr. J. Dome will be taking over Gabrielle's care and I am very excited about that.

Will update after scans & Dr. appt on tuesday.

****NEW PHOTOS ADDED 6-8-06****

Hello to our supporters.

Gabrielle is doing wonderful.
She has started swimming lessons and just loves it.

Her brother Mitchell(her dad's son)is here for the summer and she is enjoying her time with him.

Next week is her dance recital. I have been waiting for this.

The monday after father's day, June 19, we will be headed for another 6 month check-up at St. Jude.
I'm kinda nervous, of course, I wish we could have one more CT done.
I know this will be our last time seeing Dr. Hamilton(the fellow Dr.) and our oncologist, Dr. Sanatna is leaving St. Jude for one year to go work for the FDA(as I understand from another parent). We are used to the same Dr's. I do not want to see anyone else after seeing the same 2 for almost 3 years...I'm frustrated.
Gabrielle has come out of her shell with Dr. Hamilton and really likes him.

Our summer has been non stop with something different everyday. That really takes my mind of alot of things.

We are still praying for all of our Cb friends & familes.

May everyone have a great summer.

Sheena & Gabrielle

I had a very wonderful Mother's Day!

Gabrielle surprised me with a plant she planted at school.
It was so sweet.
Her dad took her to Clayfish Bisque-a pottery/paonting place where you can paint anytting and have it fired. She chose a clam with a star on top. It opens so I can put stuff in it. It is so cute.

I was able to spend alot of quality time with my daughter this weekend. It was great:) And very much needed.

Thanks to all for your continued prayers & support.

A very greatful Mother,
Sheena

05-17-06
Today a picture of Gabrielle & "King Landon"(from Cajun Woodstock) were in the Church Point newspaper. Check it out if you can. It is cute. Once I get a copy of the paper I can maybe scan it onto her website

Oh, On Mother's Day 05*14*06 Gabrielle learned to tie her shoes. She & I worked on it all day!!!

Friday, May 12, 2006 11:01 AM CDT

Tomorrow we are attending two birthday parties. they will both have fun jumps & lots of cake, cake cake.

Gaberielle is invited to a party for Amelia, one of her class mates from school. And the other is for Reese, she lives behind moma's house.

She is so excited and can't wait.
Hopefully sunday will be a calm day where we can rest! HA HA
I don't know what that is anymore. Gabrielle certainly keeps me on my toes.

I want to send a wish for all the mothers and grandmothers of our Cb family-
May you have a very Blessed, Wonderful Mothers Day!

I know some you have babies in Heaven and I'm sure they will be looking down and smiling their brightest smile:)
My thoughts go out to all of you

Looking forward to a great fun-filled weekend

Sheena & Gabrielle

Thursday, May 4, 2006 12:53 AM CDT

Well, I guess my updated get futher & further apart.
That just means we are having fun, fun, fun!!!

This past Saturday & Sunday was the 4th annual Cajun Woodstock festival to benefit St Jude Children's Research Hospital.
They had live entertainment, food, poker run, games, fun jumps, and an auction-all to benefit these wonderful kids at a wonderful hospital.
Many thanks to Steve, Loretta, & all the others who make this possible. www.cajunwoodstock.com

Of course Gabrielle had a blast. We got the chance to meet Landon(www.caringbridge/visit/landonpitre). He is also from Louisiana and is being treated at St. Jude for neuroblastoma. He is such a special little boy.

An update on my uncle:
He has started a new treatment that is being done here in Baton Rouge, LA.
He goes for one week and stays in ICU while he receives his treatment then comes home for week and repeats.
There are several side effects-swelling/diarrhea,etc.
So far he taken more treatments than anyone who has done this type of treatment. So he is hanging in there.
Uncle Robert we are very proud of you:) And we love you so much. www.caringbridge.org/la/robert

Tomorrow gabrielle will be taking pictures for her dance review. I can not wait. They will be little dragons. Their costumes are little green sequence tu-tu's. So cute
Her review is in June.

Our next check-up is in June also 19-21 in Memphis.
So please say special prayers for Gabrielle to remain in remission.

Sending prayers to all of our CB friends & their families

Ms. Sheena & Gabrielle

I have something I want to share.
This was the "Thought of the Day" at the Leadership Conference at my work.

Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate.
Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure.
It is our Light, not our darkness that most frightens us.
We ask ourselves-Who am I to be brillant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous?
Actually, who are we not to be?
You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people do not feel insecure around you. We were born to manifest the Glory of God that is within us. It is not just in some of us, it is in everyone.
And as we let our light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fears, our presence automatically liberates other.
--Marianne Williamson

Wow! It has been a while!

HAPPY EASTER TO ALL
MAY YOU HAVE A VERY BLEESED HOLIDAY

Things are great here in Louisiana-Today Gabrielle is having an Easter party at school(pre-k). This morning she was so eggcited. Yesterday some classes had their party and she was upset they had not had theirs.

Health wise Gabrielle is doing great. We are still on Zyrtec for allergies and we can handle that. No complaints here.

My Uncle Robert's trial treatmnet has been stopped b/c it was not working.
There is another trial tx but he is not a candidate for it.
So his Dr. at M.D. Anderson will be setting him up to start a treatment that can be done here in Baton Rouge. Hopefully he will start monday after he has a mediport put in.
I have not updated his site because it is easier for me to do it here. And really it is too hard for me to update on his(feeling, mixed emotions?, maybe)
I'll just say he needs lots & lots of prayers.
He really looks great and still feels good. Melanoma is not curable and does not have many treatment options. Most treatments are just experimental...Please lift him up in prayer.
His site is www.caringbridge.org/la/robert

TOMORROW ON FRIDAY WE WILL BE DYING EASTER EGGS-ALL OF THE 10 DOZEN..YOU THINK WE WILL HAVE FUN...AND DYE ALL OVER:)
I WILL DEFINANTLY POST PICTURES.

Have a great weekend,
Sheena & Gabrielle

Please remember to keep all of the families(who are fighting and who have fought) in your thoughts & prayers this HOLY weekend.

Gabrielle's eye Dr. appt went well.

He said her vision is great 20/20.

The thing with the farsightedness has not changed but it is not enough to affect her vision where she will need glasses, yet. He seems to think her thing she is doing w/her eyes is habit.
We'll see. They dialated her eyes and he told her that should make them better & she will not have to blink all the time & turn eyes to the side.

So at least we don't have glasses yet

Please pray for my uncle battling Melanoma. He goes to M.D. Anderson tomorrow to see if this experimental treatment is working.
Sheena & Gabrielle

03-11-06 **NEW PHOTOS IN PHOTO ALBUM**

Things are going pretty good on our end of the world.

One little thing Gabrielle seems to be having some problems with her eyes.

We have an appt with an eye Dr. on Monday

Tuesday night I noticed she would open her eyes real wide and turn them to the side along with her head and then rub her eyes. I thought maybe something was in there even though I could not see anyhting so I really did not worry about it.
But ever since she has not stopped doing this.
This does raise a big concern but I can not jump to conclusions becuase I know nothing about opthamology

Maybe she needs glasses not sure.

She did see this eye Dr. last year and they charted she was farsighted but just a very, very little. Not enough to do anything about it-since she was seeing 20/20.

So we will see what he says on Monday.
Of course at first I freaked when she kept doing it.
I guess it will never ease up.

At the bottom of the page is a link for Senator David Vitter's email.
If you are from La please send him an email asking him to cosponsor the Conquer Childhood Cancer Act 2006.
I sent him an email & I encourage everyone of you too to do the same.

((((Hugs)))) & Kisses to all of our family & friends on
Valentins's Day!!!!!!!

Last night Gabby & I sat down to make 15 Valentine Day bags for her friends at school. We put balloons, candy, a puzzle, & of course a card-which Gabby signed her name on everyone. It was ssooo cute to be able to watch her take her time and write them out. It went alot slower than if I would have written but I am so glad I let her do it.

This morning I am going with her to Pre-K to habd out her goody bags at her party. She will have a fun-filled day today.

May God Bless each & everyone one,
Sheena & Gabrielle

Thursday, February 9, 2006 8:18 AM CST

In the past month Gabrielle has been fighting a cold with a cough adsn bronchitis. She has been on several cough meds & breathing treatments...we went to the Dr. Monday because she started with a cough and low grade fever again. She said it was her sinuses and gave her another cough medicine & and antibiotic.
I kept her home from school monday & tuesday to make sure she had no fever and was o.k. to go to school on wed. She went to school on wed and when her dad picked her up he called me at work and said she was crying saying her head hurt...i could hear her crying in the back ground---that distinctive cry that tells you something is really hurting.
At school they told him she was not feeling well and would just sit there. I wish they would have called me.
When he got home with her he gave her tylenol and then she vomited abd fell asleep. I left work and came straight home. I think it may have something to do with her sinuses & the crazy weather here. Lately we have had warm weather since Christmas high 60's-mid 70's-not much of a winter.
And this week it is cooloing off-really cold weather this weekend. We will stay indoors!!!

I am such a worry wart. I had a million things going thru my head-I think i need to stop doing that. It is driving me crazy. Now the minute she gets a cough I think oh my she is gonna get pneumonia---does this ever stop. I don't think so. The further she is off treatment i worry more.
She is my only child-I do not want anything to ever happen too her.

I will watch her today and call her pediatrician to let her know.

Lord, today I put my worries in your hands,
Sheena

Please lift my uncle up in your prayers
www.caringbridge.org/la/robert
He went to M.D. Anderson last weekto start an experimental tx and ran test and found out his tumors have doubled in size. Please visit his site and let him know you are praying for him also.
Thanks,
Sheena

Thursday, February 2, 2006 9:40 PM CST

Yesterday Feb. 1st was my birthday.

Gabrielle was really excited about that. She got me some really cool presents-my favorite was something she picked out-a cactus in a glass container with colorful sand that will never need watering--my kind of plant!
When I got back from work she had an icecream cake for me with purple icing & pink writing-her fav colors.

I had a great day with a lot to be thankful for too!

At work we opened our new Admit area, new E.R., new cafeteria, chapel, & gift shop. It is wonderful.

Tomorrow Gabrielle will be having Teddy Bear & Silly sock day at school. All of the kids are asked to bring their fav teddy-Gabrielle has one about her size to bring-and they are to wear silly socks all day. We made some socks with eyes & a mouth.

On the 31st my mom & her brother (Robert who has melanoma) headed to M.D. Anderson because his ins has approved an experimental tx that he started today.

I am asking for everyone who visits & prays for Gabrielle to stop by his site or keep him in your prayers.
www.caringbridge.org/la/robert

Having a wonderful week,
Sheena & Gabrielle

GREAT NEWS!!!
Gabrielle's scans were all clear!
We are all set to come home tomorrow.
Tonight we saw some SNOW in Memphis
yessssssssssssssss, it was actually snowing-it is 35 degrees here. We are not used to this
We also had a pizza party at the Grizzly house and Spider Man was playing and Gabrielle made a spider man arts & craft figure.

Gabrielle had a chest xray and a complete abdominal u/s today and also the much dreaded blood work.
She did pretty good and afterwards(here is a funny) she whispered to her baby that it really did not hurt!
She got lots of goodies for doing so great!

The chest xray did show that Gabrielle had bronchitis so we will follow up with her pediatrician at home.

Dr. Santana is GABRIELLE'S oncologist here in Memphis but we usually see a fellow Dr. L Hamilton(who we love) and we awere sad to learn he will not be here after July-he is moving on. But he wants to see up on last time before he leaves so he is having us come back in June.(probably aroung the 19th)

Dr. Hamilton also recommended that we get a kidney Dr. back home to follow-up with once a year just to have as she gets older. Her uric acid levels were high but he seems to think that was related to being npo. So we will see. I will talk with our pediatrician first thing tomorrow morning.

Well, this is my first update for the new year!

We have been busy so far-school, work, dancing,&just enjoying our weekends!

Yesterday I brought Gabrielle to her pediatrician because she has been having a cough that we could not get rid of for about 3 weeks now. So she wanted to do a chest xray & sinus views.

So we went to the hospital to get her xrays done. The whole time all she would ask if "Mom, am I getting a poke?" (this means a shot or blood draws)
That would just break my heart the way her big blue eyes looked when she would look up at me & ask that question.

We leave for memphis for our first 6 month check-up.(it seems like forever since we have gone to St. Jude-i'm not sure how i feel about that)So i checked out copies of her xrays & report since we will be doing a chest xray & abd u/s not a ct on this visit.
I wanted to have the xray for them even though they will most likely repeat it.

When I went to check out the chest xray a radiologist who is a very good family friend at the hospital where I work & where Gabby's xrays were taken asked me if I had the results I said no. So she took a peak at the films. She said Gabby had some bronchial thickening and some thickening in her sinus areas. She suspected bronchitis & siunsitis. But the radiologist who read the xray said normal chest.
So I am waiting for her pediatrician to call me back with the results & I will let her know.

I kept Gabrielle home from school yesterday & today. Last night she ran fever. Hopefully we broke it.

I pray she will be alot better when we get ready to leave for St. Jude on Monday.
Gabrielle's test are scheduled for Tuesday.

I'll update when we get back from Memphis-or probably as soon as we hear her results on Tuesday!

Happy Wednesday!
This morning Gabrielle is at school. I am just so excited about how much she really loves her school. Sometomes when she is home with her dad playing hookey she ask him to bring her to school.

Next Tuesday her class will be performimg a Christmas play for the school.
I will be able to go see it. She has her part down pact. She will be a doll in the play that comes to life. Her Part is to walk stiffly swing her arms and say ("moma, moma look at me i can walk, i can talk.) It is so cute.

I had my algebra final last night. What a relief today I really feel light as a feather-one more class down-3 yrs to go.

As for my uncle he had an MRI yesterday and i have not heard any results yet. I hope we have our Cb friends praying for him & his fasmily as he really needs that right now.

Next week, maybe next Wednesday I have to have two moles removed from my chest area. I am praying they are nothing.

This weekend Gabrielle & I will go see Santa at The Kart Ranch. He has already visited her school and she did take pics with him. At first she did not want to but when i picked her up in the afternoon she said "mom i took a picture with santa!" she was so excited.
As soon as I can get with someone who has ascanner I have lots of new pics to update(some really cute ones too & her 1st Pre-K picture!

**********HAPPY HALLOWEEN!**********

IN THIS NEW UPDATED I DO HAVE A COUPLE OF THINGS TO REPORT.

THIS PAST WEEK HAS BEEN A ROUGH ONE FOR GABRIELLE & I.

LAST FRIDAY WE WENT TO A WEDDING WHERE THEY SERVED SPRITE WHICH HAD MINT LEAVES IN THE BOWL AND GABRIELLE DRANK IT.
WHEN WE GOT HOME SHE BROKE OUT ALL OVER HER BODY WITH RED BUMPS AND HER FACE AND ANKLES WERE SWOLLEN. AND SHE ITCHED.
ON SUNDAY WE WERE IN THE NON-URGENT CARE CLINIC.

SHE HAD TO HAVE BLOOD WORK TO CHECK HER KIDNEY FUNCTIONS-WHICH CAME BACK PERFECT AND SHE GOT SOME STEROID MEDS TO TAKE THROUGHOUT THE WEEK.
ON MONDAY AFTERNOON SHE STARTED RUNNING FEVER AND EVEN VOMITIED. SO ON TUESDAY WE WERE AT OUR PEDIATRICIANS OFFICE. THEY TOLD US TO TREAT THE FEVER AND CONTINUE THE STEROIDS.

ON THURSDAY I HAD A SAME DAY SURGERY PROCEDURE DONE AND MY RESULTS CAME BACK GREAT AND I AM FEELING FINE & RELIEVED.

AGAIN ON THURSDAY AFTERNOON GABRIELLE RAN FEVER. ON FRIDAY SHE WOKE UO CONGESTED WITH A COUGH...SO I GUESS THAT EXPLAINS THE FEVER.

TODAY GABRIELLE CONTINUED TO COUGH ALL DAY. SHE IS ON COUGH MEDS AND HOPEFULLY WILL BE ALL BETTER FOR MONDAY NIGHT SO WE CAN GO TRICK-OR-TREATING!!!

GIVE ME A DRUM ROLE PLEASE:
FOR HALLOWEEN GABRIELLE WILL BE A COWGIRL!!!

***I HAVE A PRAYER REQUEST FOR MY UNCLE WHO HAS MALIGNANT MELANOMA: HE HAS SOME PRE-CANCEROUS SPOTS ON HIS HEAD AND IS HAVING TO TREAT THEM WITH SOME CREAM. HE CONTINUES TO TAKE HIS INJECTIONS 3 DAYS A WEEK AND WILL RETURN TO M.D. ANDERSON ON NOV. 14*** PLEASE PRAY HE GETS GOOD NEWS ON HIS VISIT

Saturday, October 15, 2005 10:04 PM CDT

Where do I begin?
There is not too much to report.
Gabrielle has had a really great week. She continues to so good in Pre-K adn she loves it.
This week she had computer class at school, dancing and they are learning all about fire safety so they took a field trip to the fire station. She learned lots of important things.

Today we went to a birthday party at Chuck E. Cheese's for (IZZY) one of her friends in her dance class. There were several kids from dance & school there. She had a blast!!

Next week they will take a trip to the Pumpkin Patch, which is really looking forward to.
I am so glad I chose to take her out of her other school and put her where she is now.

I posted a new pic on the home page taken 10-15-05.

Hopefully I can post more new pics this week.

Enjoying a great weekend,
Ms. Sheena & Gabrielle

Tuesday, October 4, 2005 3:02 PM CDT

Well Louisiana has been thru another hurricane and fortunantly we are o.K. We got by w/no damamge to our home-only the lights went out for a couple days & we lost all food in freezer & frige. But yet we are still so blessed.

Gabrielle has been doing exceptionally well in Pre-K and dancing. This week she will start a compouter program at school-since she is so great with computers.

Besides and ear infection and a cold & cough she has been doing great!!

Every day I realize how lucky I am to be her mom & to have her as my daughter! And we have so much to be thankful for.
She has brought so much laughter into my life(she has quite a personality).

She is already talking about being a cowgirl for Halloween and then she wants to write her list for Santa!
We went shopping this past weekend for a cowgirl hat & boots. We found the perfect hat but no boots.
So we will keep looking.

Keeping all those affected by the two Hurricanes and those whose lives have been forever changed by the beast
in our thoughts and prayers.

Being Thankful,
Ms. Sheena & Gabrielle

Friday, September 23, 2005 9:49 AM CDT

It is officially fall!

Louisiana is getting ready to face yet another disaster.

Hurricane Rita will make land fall in the early morning hours on Saturday. Less than 24 hrs. away.
We are staying with my mom & dad. Although I am working today-they are trying to get me to work thru the weekend and I think I will not. Paul maybe at his hospital all weekend. But I do not think the weather will be too bad here. We will get 40 mph winds and rain but hopefully that is it.
Lets pray for all those who will be really affected from Rita.

My thoughts go out to those who ran from Katrina and lost everything and who are now running from Rita.
A very significant number of the folks from New Orleans
evacuated to Texas and now have been sent to other states north. I can not imagine.

Keeping safe,
Sheena & Gabrielle

She can type her name all by herself. In just 5 days at school she was writing her name. She is doing great.

***September 5, 2005***
Today marks two years since our pediatrician informed out with news that would forever change our lives.
On this day 2 years ago I recieved a call from our pediatrician saying she needed to see Paul & I in her office.
She said she could not discuss anything else over the phone she needed to do it in person. My heart sank as I was getting ready for work. I left Gabrielle with my mom. She was going to bring her to school for me. When I arrived Paul was already there.
Then I had been told my child had a tumor on her right kidney called a Wilm's Tumor. All I could do was stand in the corner and cry. My heaert shattered. I had no idea what was in store for us. All I knew was that cancer was bad. I had never heard of any other childhood cancers beside leukemia. I had so many mixed emotions running thru my head just as I do today.
I look back as to where we have been and where we are now and we are so Blessed in so many ways. I would have never thought I would have had to experince such a thing with my child.
Today Gabriellle is a very healthy and lovable 4 year old who is so full of life. I thank God for every day with her. Life is so precious. Please hug your babies tight and don't forget to say "I love you."

I have had a couple emails from several concerened Cb familes about our condition due to Hurricane Katrina.
I want to say that we were not really affected by the hurricane such as having damage to vehicle or houses in our area but we are feeling a big impact in alot of other ways.

The Hurricane hit along the Gulf coast on August 29, 2005 at approximately 5:00 am.
It is such a horroble, horrible tragedy. For those of you who have been watching the news you have seen that this has brought out the good in alot of people and it has also brought out the worst in others. It is true that there is a lot of looting going on and some of them are junkies who are shooting at the rescue crews in New Orleans, La.
It just breaks my heart.
If you could please, please add the people not only in Louisiana, but in Mississippi and Alabama to your prayer list. Some children are seperated from their parents and will be for some time. Many families are forced to start over, but at least I pray that they still have family to start over with.

On a happier note: Gabrielle is still loving Pre-K.
I have started college again also. It is a challenge adding my homework in to our daily routine. But I have wanted to get back into school for some time now and I am finally doing it.

****I am typing this because this family has no access to internet.****

There is a little girl named Teri Lynn who is also from Opelousas, LA and was diagnosed with Wilm's Tumor Stage II at the beginning of this year. She has finished all of her treatment and is currntly in remission.
Her father had lung cancer and passed away before she finished her treatments. So her mother was left to raise 4 girls.
I meet up with her and her mom around the hospital where I work sometimes because her pediatrician is also Gabrielle's pediatrician.
Teri has started Headstart and is loving it. She has a birthday coming up this month. September 25, 2005. She will be 4 years old. If anyone is interested in sending her a card please mail it to me and I will gladly make sure she gets it for her special day!! I can just see her sweet face when recieves her mail.

Praying for Hurricane Katrina Evacuees,
Sheena & Gabrielle

Can I get a TOOT-TOOT!!!!!!!

CLEAR SCANS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We had a great trip to Memphis with Great news.

Gabrielle did excellent for her poke(I.V.) She had to be poked twice. The first one came out. She is a pro at it now. And for her Ct she hopped right on the table, picked up her arms and held still 'till the end.
All of her labs are great.
Now we do not have to go back to MEMPHIS until January. We are cleared to go every 6 months. And no more Ct's for now. We will do chest x-rays and ultrasounds.
I am a little nervous that I will not have that reassurance every 3 months but it is in the best interest for our sweet girl. She is getting too much radiation from the Ct. This away she will get less radiation.

While in Memphis we met up w/Child Life Specialist Ms. Melinda. She is wonderful with kids and we were happy to see her. Good Luck Ms. Melinda w/your career choice. I'm sure St. Jude(& the kids)will miss you.

On August 15 we will be traveling with my uncle to M.D. Anderson to go with him and meet some people who are doing Genetic testing on Gabrielle's tumor. We are very excited about this.

My journals might get further & further apart but I will try to update as often as possible as Gabrielle will be going to Pre-K in August. I think this will be great for her!

Thanks for all the prayers & support,
Ms. Sheena & Gabrielle

Monday, July 11, 2005 10:00 AM CDT

Last Saturday July 2nd we celebrated Gabrielle's 4th birthday. Yes, my baby is already 4 years old(going on 14). Where does time go?
She had a wonderful birthday despite the heat outside.
We had a BIG funjump slide, cooked hamburgers & hotdogs, & played games. Gabrielle enjoyed every minute of it-especially being surrounded by lots of people. Thanks to all who came and celebrated with us.

On Monday July 4th we took off and headed for Gulf Shores. We have always wanted to bring Gabrielle to the beach and now we finally could. And what a better way for her to spend her real birthday but on the beach. She just loved digging her toes in the sand. Her face would light up with a BIG smile. She would run towards the water and when the waves would come up she would run away like they were chasing her. It was funny just to see her laugh & run like that-they way she should.
When it wa time to pack up on Friday she did not want to come home. She wanted to live there a little longer.
Whene we go on vacation whatever place we stay at she assumes it is a new home. Just like when we went to Disney at GKTW, she told my parents we had a new house & a new car(a rental)so they had to come visit.
She is such a silly little girl.

Last night July 10 we went with ^ANGEL^ Zoie's parents & family & friends to her grave. It was one year since she earned her angel wings. We went to say prayers and let ballons go up to heaven. Then we went to eat Ta her favorite retaurant(tampico's). It was nice. Travis & Chastity, we love you guys. Keep in touch.

One week from today we will leaving to go to St. Jude for a check up on the spot that was at the base of Gabby's right lung. We need all prayers that this thing will be gone and it is nothing.

Today my uncle goes to meet with an oncologist here to decide his treatment plan. Please pray they make the best decision possible as there are not many options with melanoma.

***********NEW PHOTOS IN THE PHOTO ALBUM**********
Thanks ERIN for the e-mail and for checking in on Gabrielle. It was so nice to meet you. I know it meant alot to Travis & Chastity that you were there last night.

Not much else to report except that Gabrielle is enjoying time with her brother Mitchell until he goes back home fors chool in August. And she is doing great. No more ear infections-no more fever!

Until we get back from Memphis,
Sheena

NEW PHOTOS ADDED

Here is a run down on what we have done since Friday May 6th.
On the 6th we attended Relay For Life. It was quite nice and there were lots of survivirs there. Alot more this year than last year!

On the 7th we went to Clinton, La where the annual Dream Day Foundation Fishing Galore is held each year for St. Jude patients. There are tons of thing to do-fishing, face painting, arts & crafts, wagon rides, 4-wheeler rides, a petting zoo,etc and lots of food and really nice volunteers.

On the 8th we left for New Orleans. We spent the night there and went eat out so that we would be right by the airport monday morning.

Monday May 9 we flew out of N.O.
When we arrived at G.K.T.W. I was like WOW!
This is awesome and I had not yet seen any of Disney yet. Everyone at the Village was so nice. We met some peopple from a middle school from Cutoff, LA. They do fundraisers all year long for G.K.T.W and they go one week out of the year to bring the donations and volunteer their time.

Tuesday we went to Magic Kingdom. When we arrived I went to pull the tickets out and they were not there.(we still have not found those tickets?)Gabrielle was totally amazed by Cinderella's castle and the Dumbo ride was her favorite. We saw the castle at night and watched the fireworks. That was a long day but a really fun one.

Wednesday we went to Animal Kingdon. The tree of life is absouletly amazing.
Gabrielle really enjoyed the parade the most. At the village the mayor is Mayor Clayton who is a six foot tall bunny rabbit. He came to tuck Gabby in bed. She really liked that.

Thursday we took our family pic w/Mickey & Minnie at G.K.T.W.then headed to Epcot and then we went to MGM studios. We broke up the day among those two because I did not think Gabrielle would enjoy that much at each one. But she did.

On friday we went to see Shamu. Gabrielle loved to feed the sea animals but did not want to ride any of the rides there. Barney & friends came to the village. Gabrielle's face lit up. (Barney is still her favorite, then Dora) After Sea World we came back to the village to relax.

On Sat. we went to Universal Studios where Gabrielle met up w/Barney & friends again and was able to attend a live Barney show.
I was so excited for her to get to see them live. It was awesome. After that we hunted Dora down. We also saw Shrek and other characters.

Gabrielle has a total of over 42 characters that signed her autograph book. And we have a picture w/each & every one of them.
I must say that while we were there it is like they rolled out the red carpet for us the whole time. This was a wish come true.

Thanks to Mrs. Bennett & her Husband from Dreams Come True for being so patient w/us and organizing everything.
I can not express how much we appreciate what you anb the organization have done for us. We will have these memories for a lifetime.

We have been very busy lately. Today is my day to chill, relax & catch up on house work.

I pray for all of our CB friends & their families daily.

Gabrielle is doing great. She does have an ear infection, but that is nothing that we can not handle.

Please keep all of the children dealing w/cancer in your thoughts and prayers.

My uncle had test done about 2 weeks ago(an mri) and everything is looking great. He will go back monday to meet w/ his DR. to see what is the next step.

Right now My great grandmother is not doing well at all. She was dx w/breast cancer in 1997(i think). Now the cancer is all over and she is 90 years old. She has been in the hospital since wed. Hospice has come to talk to the family. But where she is at her regular Dr. can not see her b/c he does not go there. They are trying to get her transfered to another facility but I believe she just wants to go home. Please pray that they make the best decision about her care. The Dr. is telling us maybe another month and there is really nothing else they can do for her except make her comfortable.

IN HIS HANDS,
Sheena & Gabrielle

O.K. I finally got the Easter picture right. Check it out in the photo album.

What a wonderful weekend we had!!!!!!!

We were invited by ^Angel^ Zoie's parents to attend Cajun Woodstock held in Church Point, LA. It is a Cajun Festival in which Zoie is Forever their Woodstock Queen and all the proceeds benefit St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, where Zoie was treated and Gabrielle also. There are so many children from Louisiana who are treated there annualy.
About 60heir patients are from Liuisiana. Such a high number. So over and over I ask my self why? Why so many from Louisiana? Our environment? Chemical Plants? Our lifestyle & diet? All the pesticides? Is it in our water? In the ground? In the food we eat? WHY? WHY? WHY?

Well Gabrielle had a blast at the festival. I was so excited to see Travis & Chastity. The last time we saw them was last May at the fishing galore. We can not go that long again w/out getting together guys. Thanks so much for inviting us. We were so happy to be apart of something to be able to give back to St. Jude for all they have done for us!
And to Mr. Steve(JOE) & Ms. Loretta and the gang:
Thanks for getting the festival together. You guys did a great job!!! We are looking forward to seeing you next year!

They had a petting zoo(Gabby's favorite), games, an auction, lots of Good Food(Just ask Melinda-Zoie's favorite Child Life Specialist from St. Jude who flew in from Memphis for this special event), lots of cajun music and a poker run.
Melinda, we were so happy to meet you. You are such an inspiration after all you have gone thru. We hope to see you at St. Jude in July.

Next year I hope to be involved whether I am volunteering or helping out in whatever way, we will be there again!!
And hopefully we can get some more St. Jude families to attend.

Be on the lookout for new pictures this week from Cajun Woodstock

I have created a CB page for my uncle who is battling Malignant Melanoma StageIII.
It is:www.caringbridge.org/la/robert
I would like for everyone who visits Gabby this week to drop by his place on the web and leave him an encouraging note. Just let hom know you are thinking or praying for him.

Thankful for a wonderful weekend,
Sheena & Gabrielle

We made it home safe!

We will go back to St. Jude in July(right after Gabby's 4th birthday) for another 3 month check up because of the pleural thickening at the base of her right lung. I am just glad that they are going to stay on top of this. I'm not sure if I'm ready for us to go every 6 months anayway. That's along time w/out scans.
I'm just asking for more prayers so that when we return in 3 months the pleural thickening will be gone.

On my uncle's situation: he had his first radiation treatment yesterday. I think his next on will be on tuesday then friday. He is still hanging in there.
If anyone is interested in sedning donations, wal-mart gift cards, or just some happy mail he would greatly appreciate it.
Also he has 3 children: Robert III(age 16), Megan(age 13), & Desiree(age 11)
Their mailing address is:
Robert Hardy, Jr.
P.O. Box 1736
Port Barre, La
70577

Maybe this weekend we can work on getting his website up. And I can post his address.

Gabrielle and I are attending Cajun Woodstock this weekend.
It is a festival to benefit St. Jude. There are lots of games, foo, music, & lots of fun!! We will get to see Travis & Chastity(parents of ^angel^ Zoie)

Also, while we were in Memphis Gabrielle met a friend who was from Tennessee(about 8 hrs from memphis). Her name is
Madison. Madison has a tumor at the end of her optic nerves. She has just started a new treatment that will last 1 year(52 weeks). She is such a beauty and a sweetie.
We pray that all goes well for Madison & Her family.
Feel free to stop by & visit her and drop a word or two for her family. www.caringbridge.org/tn/madisongrace

***There is a new pic of Gabrielle in the photo album from Easter It is a bit large but for now I can not shrink it***

Have a great weekend,
