Glad to hear you had a good trip and lots of fun on the vacation part of the trip. How funny Janna would not get in the group photo. Leah was the same way at that age.
Howard has been seeing Transplant Olympic shirts and gear at UPMC. We hope you are still thinking of coming to Pgh for it. We would love to see you guys!

Glad you had a good trip and we love the story of Janna not posing for the group picture. Sounds like Leah at that age.
We have very few pictures of her when she was 2 and 3...
Be well and enjoy all of your fun activities!
ps-Howard said they are starting to sell shirts, etc for next years Transplant Olympics at UPMC.
We definately will want to support it someway...volunteer..buy shirts...let us know when the date gets closer if you are coming in for it. We hope!~

Poor Baby, she really has been through quite a bit since we last logged on. I know how much Howard hates the prep for colonoscopies....I cannot imagine prepping a child for it.
You guys are all in our thoughts and prayers...especially that this new med reduces some of her allergies.
Give her a big hug from the Segals!! and one for her big sister too! Heck...hugs for all of you...you deserve it!

Scott and Howard should share vacation stories. He too has been off all week and barely left the house. We have all had this repiratory virus (except Howard). So, he has been spending his time taking care of the sick. But, we too are just glad he is home with us.

God bless all of those families who lost their babies. We will keep them in our prayers.
On a lighter note, the haircut story made us laugh. I think every child does that at one time in their life. Can you imagine the conversation they had when they were cutting. Aidan did it too when he was 4.
They are too cute! We cannot wait to meet them someday!! We feel like we know them already.

I love the pic of Janna on your homepage in her little pink sundress. Those big round beautiful eyes...she looks so inquisitive and innocent! So sweet. Holy cow - you guys have been busy! So sorry to hear abou the allergic reactions. I was hopeful for awhile - but Tanner had a reaction which we think was an egg cross contamination. Red all around his mouth. I'm scared to even try Strawberries!

Praying for labs and an uneventful remainder of the week!

Wow Tammy, what a deal for all of you. You are just the best mom - I don't know what pinworms are and certainly wouldn't have considered it influencing sleep. Also, I will be speaking with you about sending the boys your way for a couple of weeks so that you can potty train them.

Most importantly, Happy Birthday!! I hope that you have a nice dinner. Can you get someone to be with the girls overnight so you can get a good night's sleep? You deserve it!

Yay for monthly labs! The bad news is that when Tanner switched to monthly labs he went from an easy stick to a very difficult, toddler throwing fit stick. But, hey, if I only have to do that once a month - that's ok! I think it's harder for the parents - ok, us moms who track all the labs in spreadsheet form - to adjust than it is the kids. Now, I actually have to write our lab dates on the calendar.

Sounds like things are getting better. As I read about all the little kiddos with food allergies I realize how lucky we were with Ali. She was lactose intolerant for a short time, but outgrew it. As far as I know she's not allergic to anything else. Anyway, I'm glad you are finding recipes that Janna seems to like. Isn't this unseasonable Kansas winter great? I just have a feeling we are going to get hit with a monster snowstorm before spring, and we don't have anymore snow days left. Oh well, I'll take the nice days when we get them now. The Alk Phos sometimes goes sky high when the person is getting ready to hit a growth spurt. Now, I don't know if it means that in combination with the other lab numbers, but Omaha always told us "Get ready" when Anthony's Alk Phos shot through the roof! And they were right.

Ok - the allergies totally suck - but they are manageable. Thankfully, we only deal with egg. We've basically eliminated it from our diet (although occasionally we will sneak adult food into the house with egg). The one meal of the day that is difficult - breakfast. But, I'll manage that any day over constant diaherra, poor weight gain, & a grumpy kid.

Prayers for you guys to get this figured out - as always, waiting is the worst. I hope it's an *easy* allergy - keep us posted!

Just stopping in to say hi. Hmmm...snotfest....that may be one of my words. What about being "snobbered" on - that's a lovely blend of snot and slobber left on shoulders and pantlegs by your toddler. Ah...but maybe Janna is past that stage (lucky you!).

We've caught that crud already, too - Tanner's numbers are up a little, but nothing significant. I don't think it matters how vigilant you are - this year it's bad!

Man! Sometimes it's really frustrating to be at a hospital that is a "teaching" hospital. I always prefer seeing the doctor over the residents...seems like we always know more than those residents!

I hope that this newest complication is easily fixed. Our prayers continue.

Tammy and Scott, I know right now you are scared for your little girl,& every minute feels like an hour. I know the feeling because I just did it approx 2 wks ago with my little girl. We are home now and she is doing great. The next few days will be very difficult for you and your family but soon you will be home and enjoying the new healthy JANNA. Our saying for our daughter was, "What counts is not neccesarily the size of the dog in the fight but the size of the fight in the dog." I think this is true for all of our kids. Good luck.

Sorry to hear the girls got the sniffles. I was hoping those germs went away with the winter season.
I hope Malina had a good day at camp, I bet she was disappointed when she had to miss.
Hope Janna gets over her little bug soon.

So glad to her Janna is feeling well these days. It probably makes the wait for the transplant more bearable if she has good days. It sounds like Malina is having a great time! How cute Janna misses her big sister, but I am sure Malina has lots of stories to share when she gets home.
Take Care!

Tammy and Scott, you all, especially Janna, have been in my prayers. Acceptance onto the transplant list is a big step towards bringing a health balance to Janna. It is a major road, but, thankfully, it only has to be lived and traveled one day at a time. Tom Wilson

Been waiting for the news - I'm not sure "congratulations" is the right word to tell someone once they are listed. You guys are at a GREAT center - and although transplant is a scary thing, it can be quite wonderful too.

Hi!

My name is Janice (Joanne Segal's sister.) While I have never met you, I feel like I know you. I just wanted to let you know that I belong to a Christian book club with neighbors in my area, and after we discuss the book, we pray for people in need. Last night we added Janna's name to our list of people. Want you to know that you have ten mom's of varous faiths in Pittsburgh praying for your sweet little girl and your family. We will continue to do so until she is well. I'm just amazed at how much she looks like Joanne's Leah!

Just saw your post on CLASS. I don't know what to say - I hope that you are comfortable with the decision.

On the flip side, I must say that it has been a HUGE relief to us to have Tanner transplanted now. I know that we have a long ways to go - but I'm not worried about bleeds anymore, "when", or "if". Oddly, the rest seems pretty marginal.

If you want to talk, please call! We will meet up with you guys someday!
