Thursday, April 13, 2006 6:19 PM CDT It has been many moons since our last update, and we are now getting ready to add to our family! Alex will soon be Big Brother to Cassandra Natali May Khan. We have started a new website for her at:

2005 was an amazing year of learning and growth for Alex. He has such an outgoing, happy personality. He loves people, especially older children, and is very friendly and playful. He can be temperamental when he doesn’t get his way, but is generally, a good boy with much energy. Promises of lollipops and fruit snacks usually keep him quiet, when necessary!
Alex started 2005 with a pretty good vocabulary. Now, he speaks conversationally in small sentences. He is able to count to 100, knows upper and lower case alphabets, and recognizes many shapes, colors, and words-too numerous to count. He can spell many small words (dog, cat, baby, stop, go), and recognizes stores, restaurants, gas stations, water towers, and other businesses by their logo. He is a marketer's dream-come-true!
He enjoys singing and dancing, and loves to make us laugh. His favorite music currently is the "Grease" soundtrack, and he can perform many of the songs, with great emotion.... thankfully, he blurs over many of the "naughty" words, since he doesn't recognize them...yet!! If you can get him to perform for you, he does great renditions of "Hopelessly Devoted to You", and "Grease Lightning" (hand movements and all!!)
Alex has become quite independent (I Do it!). He eats without help (although he is a much pickier eater these days). He brushes his teeth, washes his hands, and tries to help dress himself. He is not yet potty-trained, but we are working on it! He still loves books and has memorized all of his favorite ones. He loves to play with balls, trains and cars. Thomas the Train and friends continues to be a favorite. Alex also enjoys being outdoors at the park, playground or zoo. It is amazing how active he is…he runs all day long without breaking a sweat. We would love to put one of those trackers on him to see how many steps and / or miles he really puts in in a day. In warmer weather, he loves to go in the pool – he really enjoys the water.
If you can believe it, he is now over 3 feet tall, and weighs about 33 pounds. Alex is very healthy, and for that, we are grateful. In the fall, he will go to pre-school 2 days a week. He will HAVE to be potty trained by then, God Help Us. He is very excited about this and we are too. It is such a joy to see him growing into a little boy, but time goes much too fast – we would love for him to stay this little and innocent.
He seems to comprehend the Big Brother thing on a surface level...although when he actually meets her and finds out she's here to stay, his world will be rocked. He has already found one use for her -- Scapegoat! We were changing his clothes recently, and when we asked him where he had gotten some bruises that were on his legs, he thought about it and said, "I was pushed". When we asked him who pushed him, he thought long and hard and finally replied, "Cassie pushed me"! Poor girl...not even on the same continent and she's already getting blamed for his misfortune. She is going to grow up even faster than him!
Future updates about Alex and Cassie will likely be combined on our new website, so we hope you will continue to visit and sign our guestbookg. As always, we are grateful of all of your kinds words and wishes, and wish you much happiness in your own lives! Love Andy, Shila & Alex
