I stopped by to spend a few minutes to look at Allie's photos. Even though it's been five years, she is still in my heart and not forgotten.

Scott and Erica & Co.

I had the privilige of speaking to you by phone to get to know
your little angel Allie a bit more, She touched our lives in her
very special way and we all mourn with you. She will always be on
our hearts. I leave you two with the following prayer.....

Most merciful God, whose wisdom is beyond our understanding, deal
graciously with Scott and Erica in their grief. Surround them with
your love, that they may not be overwhelmed by their loss, but have
confidence in your goodness, and strength to meet the days to come;
Bring Allie Rae, O Lord God, at her last awakening,
into the house and gate of heaven
to enter into that gate, and dwell in that house
where there shall be no darkness nor dazzling, but one equal light;
no noise nor silence, but one equal music;
no fears nor hopes, but one equal possession;
no ends nor beginnings, but one equal eternity;
in the habitation of thy glory and dominion,
world without end.

through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Our condolences,
prayers and Sincerity,

Soon to be parents too,

We express our symapthy that Allie is no longer here with you. We do rejoice that she is now a beautiful, pure angel in heaven with no pain and suffering. Allie's time here on earth had a Godly purpose and she touched so many lives of people. Each time we opened her journal to read about her, she touched our lives. We pray now that God will give you peace about all that has happened in the past 3 weeks and all that lies ahead. We pray for Allie's brother and sister that they too may have some understanding and peace.

Scott, Erica and family,
We want to share our prayers with you as you prepare to lay your little one to rest in the arms of Jesus. We know of the "empty arms" you are feeling, as we too have a precious little one in heaven. Allie was here to give a testimoy of love from our Lord. God will give you strength for the days ahead. We pray that You will use this time to draw closer to Jesus and to the friends He has put in your path. This journey is not in vain but to glorify God in all.!
God bless you.

Dear Scott and family,
What a testament of faith your journal has been. I have been following Allie's progress since I heard about her need for prayer. While reading your entries I felt such heart ache for your family. Yet, your faith brought such comfort. I hope I would have similar faith in such a situation. I will continue to pray for Zach and Brooke as they try to understand and for all of you as you go on together as a family.
In Christian love and sympathy,

Scott, Erica and children,
Our prayers and thoughts are with you during this very difficult time. Many times we don't understand why things happen the way they do, that's when our faith must tell us that we can always trust the heart of God (when we can'trace his hand, we CAN trust His Heart). May God hold you up with His strong right hand.

Much prayer to you and your family.

Scott, Erika, Zackary & Brooke,

Words cannot express the sorrow I feel. As a mother, I cannot fathom what it would be like to loose a child, but as a Christian I rejoice with you in the fact that "our" little angel is whole and beautifully made in Heaven. I want you to know you are continually in my prayers. I am thankful that I got to know Allie. She indeed was a fighter. Always remember that God is always with us no mater what and will never leave us. When she grabbed my finger that day I cared for her, she grabbed my heart also.

Erica and Scott,
Erica I don't know if you remember me, but you sold us a life insurance policy in October. You kept telling us that we needed it for the unexpected and the unknown situations that we can't control. And as much as you have preached to others about being prepared I am sure you never thought that it would pertain to someone so close. I work at the hospital in OC and have been following your story from the letters your husband writes and the things I hear at work. And, I just wanted to tell you how much I admire your strength and ability to handle all that God has put before you without asking why me, why her. You are truely an inspiration to us all!!! And I hope now you can rest with the assurance that Allie is no longer suffering and is at rest in her Heavenly home.
God Bless you All!!

We've been keeping up with Allie's progress because of e-mails sent by Don's sister Roxie. When the prayer request went through last night, we prayed for Allie...I read the e-mail right at 6:00pm. How comforting for you to know that God is in control and has a purpose...your baby girl is absolutely perfect and gets to sit in the lap of Jesus now! It is a very complicated disorder and we had a lot of sad moments during the 2 years of his (Jacob) life. I also had a normal pregnancy and did not know of any problems until the moment Jacob was born. I am sorry for the pain and confusion you are feeling right now. My son also had a cleft lip and palate. Please let me know if I can help you at all. I have a lot of experience with feeding issues. Pleas email me at jlturner59@msn.com

As a parent also I have dealt with many challenges and trials, especially with my oldest now being 16 and having led me down some pathes I would have rather not gone :-). You have a beautiful family and Allie is a very special addition. I had gone to school with you Scott (Mr. Giffords class). I am going to keep your family in my prayers and thoughts. Dear Scott, Erica and family,
Perry just forwarded your website address to me at home and I wanted to let you know that your entire family and especially Allie, have been in our prayers. We know God has a reason for all things, and even though, at this time, we don't know what He has planned for Allie and the rest of your family - please know and believe that He knows what is best. Allie is a beautiful little girl, you have truly been blessed by God. I hope you don't mind, but I'm attaching a poem that I have had ever since I began teaching Friendship Bible. It's called "Heaven's Special Child"

HEAVENS SPECIAL CHILD!

A meeting was held quite far from earth
"Its time again for another birth"
Said the Angels to the Lord above
"This special child will need much love
Her progress may seem slow
Accomplishments she may not show
And she'll require extra care
From folks she meets way down there"
"She may not run, laugh or play
Her thoughts may seem quite far away
In many ways she won't adapt
And she'll be known as handicapped"
"So let's be careful where she's sent
We want her life to be content
Please Lord find the parents who
Will do this special job for you"
"They will not realize it right away
The special role they're asked to play
But with this child sent from above
Comes a richer much stronger love"
"Soon they'll know the privilege given
In caring for this gift from heaven
Their precious gift meek and mild
She is Heavens Special Child"

Breathe Your hope into our spirits, that we might believe our heavy hearts will again run and even rise up and fly on eagles' wings. Scott and Erica,
I have been checking the web site every night. We are so thankful that Allie has been doing so well the last couple of days. Erica, Scott, and family,
I work with Rob Krommendyk and he has asked me to pray for you and shared this web site with me. What a beautiful little girl the Lord has blessed you with! Thank you for sharing her with us. In times of uncertainty I often call upon the verses from Proverbs 3:5 and 6. It has been a great comfort and encouragement for me and hope it is for you also. May the Lord continue to bless you and allow you to continue to see the blessings He has given you. To Him be the glory and honor.

Scott, Erica & family,

We praise God for continued miracles in Allie's life and yours. We continue to pray that the days and nights are "uneventful" and that Allie may soon be transferred to Orange City, or come home. We so often forget that God is always walking by our sides, and through Allie's birth, are able to see this on a daily basis. We have been able to see how this "crisis" has strengthened your family and your spiritual relationships. We continue to pray for all of you on a daily basis, knowing that God has a special plan for Allie.

Take care of yourselves.

We are so happy with how your last few days have gone. How wonderful to have a "cable-free" child. You continue to be in our thoughts and our prayers. Now our prayers can include thanksgiving for uneventful days. With God all things are possible beyond what we ask or imagine. Allie is living proof of that. We pray we will be able to see you at home next week.

What a beautiful, special little girl you have. You have been in my prayers each day since litte Allie was born. How God has blest and been watching over each of your family, especially Allie. I just pray that each moment and day you have with her will be very special. Not long after you left Orange City hospital, I received a call from our daughter in Indiana that we had a new grandson, 3 weeks early, so I have spent the last week here in Indiana with them. Each child is a gift from God. We know God will continue to surrond you with his love and care. We pray He will give you the strength and energy and wisdom for each day with Allie.

Dear Scott, Erica and family,"Look at the birds in the air. They don't plant or harvest or store food in barns, but your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?" You have been in our thoughts and prayers since the minute we heard of Allie's birth. She certainly is a special angel and you were chosen to be her parents. Scott and Erica, We too, pray for you daily. God is holding you in the palm of His hand and has you cradled there ever so gently. May you continue to feel His goodness and grace and may you feel our love for you both. I just got done checking our own children and am about to turn in for the night. After reading your day today, I am sitting here crying. It is so evident that God is taking such good care of all of you. I am so thankful for that because sometimes we just don't know what to do and knowing that He is walking every step with you is comforting to us. We praise God that He loves you so much and will stay by your side through every minute of every day. I struggle some days what to pray for when I pray for you both. I/We are praying for you to have peace in whatever decisions you need to make from hour to hour but if there is something you need lifted up, please let us know. We KNOW God hears us and we want Him to hear many of us. His faithfulness to you continues. Praise His name!!!
God Bless you both and we continue to hold you very close throughout each day.

Thinking of you and your precious little daughter. What a sweet little angel :).
A year or so ago, a friend sent us a card which states, "God may never reveal His reasons to us, but He has revealed His character to us. His character assures us that He never makes mistakes, is never uncaring, and that He never separates Himself from our need." Praying you will find this true for yourself and your little one also. What a comfort to know He holds your precious Allie close to Himself and He loves her so much too :).

Erica and Scott,
Please know that you have many friends keeping your family in their prayers, and thru it all, God will take care of you. Here are some words from a hymn that has helped me in the past when I needed help. I hope it brings to you comfort..
Be not dismayed what-e’er betide, God will take care of you; beneath his wings of love abide, God will take care of you.
Through days of toil when heart doth fail, God will take care of you; when dangers fierce your path a-sail, God will take care of you.
All you may need he will provide, God will take of you; nothing you ask will be denied, God will take care of you.
No matter what may be the test, God will take care of you; lean weary one, upon his breast, God will take care of you.

We pray that you will continually sense God's nearness as you travel this uncertain path these days. Remember that your heavenly Father already knows and has the plans for each step of your journey together. "Look to the Lord and His strength. Seek His face always." We think of you often and pray for you more. From experience we know the terrific care you are receiving at Sioux Valley; not just medical but also emotionally and spiritually. I truly believe those specific doctors and nurses were placed there at this time by God to assist you. Listen and pray. Then trust you have made the right decisions and have done what God wants. "I know the plans I made for you...." Trust Him completely - He will carry you through this time and the years ahead.

Scott, Erica, Zachary, Brooke, & Allie,
Your family is in our prayers. May the grace and peace of God surround you during this time. Please let us know if there is anything we can do for you. Psalm 55:22 Cast your cares on the Lord and he will sustain you; he will never let the righteous fall.

Dear Scott and Erica: These last days have been a trial for you and an awareness that God is always in control. It is amazing and a blessing God provides strength and support when we most need it. I have prayed continually for you and your little sweetheart, Allie Rae. God grant you peace as He leads you.

You know we love you and our special angel. She is first of all a child of God and you are her caregivers. We know God has walked closely with you. Be at peace that all decisions made have been directed by God. That has been the prayer for you by many friends.

Scott & Ericca - Praying for you - Asked God to give me a verse for you this morning - Psalm 51:10-12 came to my mind - "Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me. Do not cast me from your presence or take your Holy Spirit from me. Restore to me the joy of your salvation and grant me a willing spirit, to sustain me." Continue leaning on Him and He will sustain you each day, praying for wisdom with your decisions you need to make, and that the peace of God will guard your heart and your mind each day. If you need any help with Brook or Zach, my kids love playmated, so give me a call - 737-4983. We plan on stopping by sometime tomorrow as we are coming to Sioux Falls. We will call to see what time would be best. Kim Groeneweg
