It's January. I'm not sure when you go back to Atlanta but I am praying that you get great reports. Tell Dr. Janss & Lisa hello. Do they still have the Nemo fish downstairs? Those were fun to watch. In the other aquarium by the counter there is a red fish that hides in a rock. We used to like to watch him and try to see him to come out. Sometimes he would come out but when he saw us he would always swim back in real fast. Hope you have a safe trip.

I am so sorry to hear about all of your trouble but glad you are "out of the woods" and doing better. Those infections are no fun!!! Victoria had to take those shots too for a few weeks. I know you are glad that you are done with chemo. Wow...it's been a long road, but you made it. You are a very special little girl. Howdy lauren. I was so very excited talking to you on the phone this weekend and very happy that you were eating even if it was hospital food. Like I told you on the phone I got a possum in the fridedaire in the garage waiting on you to come vist. You know you would think them hospital people would cook you some good food once in a while guess you will have to get well and teach them. Your skinny aunt Deb seems to be doing a jig about you gitten better, she wouldn't let me cause the floor in her trailorhouse isn't so strong and she was afeared I would fall into the downunder and never come out. Your old fat uncle Ron is really pround of you too he seems to think you might have some coontail in you maybe he will cook you some mudbugs and make you some gumbo to go with it then you be well much more sooner we thinks. I sure do hope I get to talk to you again soon maybe next time I'll wait till after u be finish eatin so we can talk more. I'am going to try and find a picture of fred and trixie together and send them to you but if not I will send one of each of them. Fred hasn't come home yet but the fishermens tells me he's been up atthe yankee end of the lake eaten them white bass which have been running. So I know he won't be home till the buffet is over cause he sure do likes to eat mighten be why he's so big and healthy. If he gets to fat I will have to make his girt on his saddle bigger so you can ride him cause his bumpy back sure is hard on your back side.One more thing that must of been a fun day for you when that picture was taken you looked so pretty and cute like a bug on a watermelon. One thing for sure u is pretty little girl. It's like waking up in a traffic jam lol. But it's really neat too. Hopefully you will get to come back to texas this summer and we can go feed the ducks and geese and fred too,then you can get a ride on fred he's to fat to be fast so it won't scare you. Howdy Lauren sorry it's been so long but my puter went on vacation and I thought it would never get back home. Howdy lauren been awful busy here lately. Spent most of the last 3 weeks fixin coon and possum traps so when winter gets here we can have a BBQ I'am sure you know how good that is. I see that your loosin weight again girl ur gonna have to start piggin out some or the wind will blow you away and we don't want that. Besides you need to eat more so when you come visit us you will be able to eat all the coon and possum you can cause I know your momma's possum and coon arent that good cause your skinny aunt debbie said it was her favorite food of your moms and we all know how skinny she is and one skinny minnie is enough.So eat up get sum meat on them their bones of urs and you will feel mucho better. I know for fact that fred and trixie eat to feel better cause each time they do they take a nap and snore like little pigs. howdy lauren, Well I'am back from ma and pa's the weather was perfect and I only picked one peach. Seems like every coon and possum in elis county was in the back yard having a moonlight pig out. We got their on friday evening and the trees were loaded but it was late so we went to bed and got up to find empty trees. I guess I should of stayed on the back porch and shot me some of them possums and coons and just had a good old BBQ next time I will. I got home today and it had been raining the whole time we were gone fred had made a mud hole in the back yard and was buried in it just his big nose and eyes were sticking out he belched at me so I know he's okay but he's not moving for anyone except breakfeast. Took trixie to grannys house she loves it granny feeds her under the table when no one is looking I think she's going to sleep for a week cause she's way to big to even move she's such a little pig. But she loves granny,well dear the summer is in full swing so I hope you get lots of swimming time in and plenty of eating also hopefully soon you will be able to travel and I will fix you a good possum or coon it will be so good you won't eat your momma's anymore you might even want to come visit with me often just for the good food. I know you won't get much food at aunt debs cause she don't eat I'am beginning to think she lives on coffee which is probably why she has such a good tan.It's late baby doll so I'am going to bed got to get up early so I can send off those buse's to pick up the summer kids, you rember to smile,laugh,and eat alot and we will be here waiting on you to come on down. I cooked all nite long I couldn't go to bed cause your skinny aunt deb was hiding behind a toothpick and chained me to the BBQ pit lol. I did try to send you smoke signals I hear you been to the pool and are trying to get back into the swing of things good luck with this next therapy We need you to get better so I can cook for you and make you all nice an plump just like uncle ron lol. Tell your mom to make plans when your better to come over hear and I will cook you both so much good food that you will have to stay here longer just to be able to get into the car lol.I know your getting better dear sometimes it's hard even for you to tell but trust me I know and when you get a chance have your mom aka BUNNY or was it cotton tail I always forget duh. Write me and email or something and let me know all your favorites I will cook them up for you and you will never want to go home. Of course you might be to big to fit into the car to go home which is all rite with me too. Also miss chris made from scratch a carrot cake and a milkyway cake they were so good. I don't understand why you have to itch to make them but they were great.Poor tasha ate so much uncle ron had to roll her to bed she couldn't walk any more lol. Baby Boy brought us a tiny little bunny a few days ago. Bobby was so mad at him for being such a good hunter. I think we are going to get a bell to go on his collar...that way all of the birds and bunnys will have a warning to run away!

Angie told me that you and Kristen went swimming in Grandmama and Grandpa's pool a few days ago. Is the water getting warmer? Have you been swimming underwater? You are such a fish...whether its in the bathtub or pool or at the beach!
Bobby decided to wash the blinds today. Guess how he washed them...he put them in my bathtub, poured in Oxyclean and started the jacuzzi. It worked great! The blinds are gleaming white.

Victoria is still in the hospital. She had her shunt removed last Friday. We are waiting for the CSF cultures to come back negative so we can go home too. Right now Victoria is in ICU for 2 days to have her head pressure monitored to make sure she can leave the shunt out. She can't do anything except lie flat so she is pretty bored. She should go back to her regular room tomorrow. We'll be here at least until the end of the week and maybe longer depending on the monitor results and the cultures. I know you are enjoying being back at home and having your family together. Tell Ryan and Kevin hello.

One rainy afternoon I was driving along one
of the main streets of town, taking those extra
precautions necessary when the roads are wet and
slick. Suddenly, my daughter, Aspen, spoke up from
her relaxed position in her seat. "Dad, I'm
thinking of something."
This announcement usually meant she had been
pondering some fact for a while, and was now ready
to expound all that her six-year-old mind had
discovered. I was eager to hear.
"What are you thinking?" I asked.
"The rain;" she began, "is like sin, and the
windshield wipers are like God wiping our sins
away."
After the chill bumps raced up my arms I was
able to respond.
"That's really good, Aspen."
Then my curiosity broke in. How far would
this little girl take this revelation?
So I asked... "Do you notice how the rain
keeps on coming? What does that tell you?"
Aspen didn't hesitate one moment with her
answer:
"We keep on sinning, and God just keeps on
forgiving us."
I will always remember this whenever I turn
my wipers on.

This is from all of us here in snowy cold Alaska!! We have been thinking about you alot and going through old pictures from when we lived there. Zach says that he remembers going on the swings with you at the school fair, but I think he has seen the picture on his dresser so often that it helps him remember. We are looking forward to getting back near you guys and into some sunny weather! It snowed again here today and we will probably have snow for a while since it was 10 degrees here today and doesn't seem to be getting warmer. Good thing the easter bunny has a lot of fur or he would freeze his tail off visiting up here! Mike is flying back to North Carolina on Saturday to look for a house for us to buy in Elizabeth City. You should look it up on a map so you can see how close we will be, especially compared to where we are now. We will be able to go to Nags head beach together and I was talking to Tiffany about renting a big house so that we can all vacation at the beach together. I will ask Ellen also and see what she thinks about the idea.
Zach will be starting Kindergarten when we get to NC and Alexis will be in preschool. They are so big and fun to play with. You guys will have a blast at The Playground (is that place still open?)and the beach together. I can't wait to see how big you and Ryan are. I look at the pictures and you look like the same sweet girl I left 4 years ago, it's hard to tell how tall you are now. Alexis is about the same size Zach was when we left for Alaska and Zach is about the same size Ryan was. Zach is very much into Godzilla and Army men, and the rest of that icky boy stuff. Alexis loves Little Bear, princesses, and babies. Zach says he is dressing up like Scooby doo this year for Halloween and Alexis said she wants to be a princess. Tell me what you guys are dressing up as next time I talk to you. I love reading about what you are doing day to day it makes me feel more in touch with you and I will write again soon. By the way the new haircut suits you, it definetly shows of your eyes and smile, it is perfect! We will be thinking about you and will keep you and the rest of the family in our prayers as always. On the day that you left Scottish Rite I saw you with your mom and dad waving from the window on the fourth floor. I couldn't believe the timing. We had just brought a patient in to the ER. I was thinking of you and how you were and if you had left for your aunts and Looked up at the window and there you were. Robin was with me too. You have a great personality and you have touched the lives of all the transport members that were able to meet you ( even those that didn't meet you because we talked about you so much ). Hi Everybody,
Bobby and I visited Lauren yesterday and she looked GREAT! It was such a beautiful sunny day...we were a little sneaky...Lauren had a pass to go to McDonalds across the street from the hospital. She wasn't very hungry so we hurried to throw the wheelchair in the back of the car and we took a little ride. It was the first time Lauren has ridden in a car since Feb. 13!!
We got back to the hospital and put 3 wagon loads of clothes, stuffed animals, books and boost in the car.
Lauren has made a calendar and she is placing a big red X for the days that are left before hospital discharge. Lauren will have to go to Emory every day for radiation and therapy but for the rest of day she will be FREE. (Lauren will also have time to do some schoolwork...so tell Mrs. Sego to send more workbook pages)
I am so excited that Lauren will be staying here with Pam and Bobby. We have gotten her bedroom all fixed up with all of her cards, toys, books and clothes.
Remember that the day we say 'adios' to the hospital is TUESDAY.

Maggie visited last weekend and Lauren had a great time showing the hospital to her good friend. They made some gorgeous spin art.
Lauren has not had much of an appetite this week. So please say a little prayer ...
Last Thursday Scottish Rite hospital named Lauren "Queen for the Day"! She received a beautiful rhinestone tiara, long satin gloves and a pink boa...she also met Miss Cowgirl USA and they took her picture. I guess there are some fun things that happen in the hospital!!
Lauren can't wait to tell everyone about all of her adventures. We have the St. James banner and we will hang it up here. Lauren really misses everyone...so write her a little note whenever you have a little time.

Lauren, I'm so glad that you are doing great! Your Mom and Dad are so proud of you, the same as we are. Debbie and I can't wait to see you and give you a great big hug!!!! As soon as you can, we would like for you to come back to Texas and stay for as long as you want. You can ride the tractors, mine or Debbie's, all over the ranch. You can even take Tasha for a ride too. We miss you and love you very much!!!! I'm going to give you my E mail address and you won't believe this, but I do not know how to get on line. Debbie set this up for me. I can 2 finger type, but in my office, I am set up on line but do not know how to operate it or check E mail or get on line. My secretary does it for me. Kind of crazy, huh? Take care of yourself and give your Mother and Dad a big hug from us. We love you and can't wait to see you!!!!!!!!
