Lord, look upon him with eyes of mercy. May your healing Spirit rest upon him. It is through your power that he was created. Since you created him from nothing, you can certainly recreate him. Fill him with the healing power of your spirit. May your lifegiving powers flow into every cell of his body. and the depths of his soul.. Mend what is broken. Cast out anything that should not be within him. Rebuild his brokenness.
Restore his strength for service in your Kingdom. Touch his soul with compassion for others. Touch his heart with Your courage and infinite love for all. Touch his mind with your wisdom, that his mouth may always proclaim Your praise. Teach him to reach out to You in his need and help to lead others to You by his example. Most loving Heart of Jesus, bring him health in body and spirit that he may serve You with all of his strength. Amen.

Dear Ben,
I met your sweet grandmother tonight, Bella. How very much she loves you. I am sure God has heard her tears and The Blessed Mother will take you herself to Her Son, Jesus, to hold you close, make you feel safe, secure, loved, and healed. Close your eyes. Picture Jesus opening His arms. Now run into His arms. He holds you close. Remember, no matter what, you can always run into his arms. All you have to do is close your eyes.
Ask you Parents to pray for the intercession of Father Suarez. All will be well.
Say hi to your brother. He is so special. God has heard his prayers too.
I love you, Ben

O Lord, my God, in you I take refuge. (Ps.7)
Lord Jesus, we celebrate today the feast of St. John of God who cared for the sick. May we remember all those who minister in hospitals, who care for the sick and who are struggling with a serious illness. May they know of your love for them and may they be strengthened by your presence in their lives. We ask this in your name. Amen.
May this prayer inspire us that HOPE is a positive way of wishing for a complete healing with no complications in your case Little Ben.
Love,
Baba

benjamin,
well it it is 3:30 in the morning--i can never seem to sleep the night before my treatment. i don't know if it's nerves or what but whatever it is i figure i should put my time to good use. here is a prayer that a friend of mine from grad school sent me that helps me a lot. maybe it can help you as well--

This is another day, O Lord.
I know not what it will bring, but make me ready, Lordfor whatever it may be. If I am to stand up, help me to stand bravely. If I am to sit still, help me to sit quietly.
If I am to lie low, help me to do it patiently. And if I am to do nothing, let me do it gallantly. Make these words more than words...

hang in there ben and belinda and know you are in my constant thoughts and prayers.

Dear Ben and family,
Anita Moore requested prayer for you a few days back and I have been saying special little prayers for you and keeping you in my thoughts. I just wanted you to know that I will try to follow your journey as you fight this difficult disease. I am always humbled by how children are so strong when faced with such trials. You are obviously a very strong young man Ben!

dear belinda and benjamin,

i am so sorry to hear about ben's current situation. i spoke with your mother the other day and she told me and then i told her that i am currently going through my own chemotherapy treatment currently. i just found out that i have hodgkinns lymphoma and have had two treatments already. they began very rapidly because it is very advanced--stage IV and it is in my bone marrow--so my doctor is treating it very aggressively. she is a wonderful woman and i feel blessed to have her on my team. my next treatment is 2/27/08.
i share this with you benjamin because you have no idea how much you have helped me while i begin my treatment. i turn 39 years old today and i think it is so very cool that a 6 year old is my hero. if i can emulate the strength and tenacity with which you have faced your disease then i feel certain that i can only have a positive outcome. so far the chemo treatments have been easy--i have not gotten sick or nauseaous which has been great. you and your mom and dad and brother are always in my prayers and i know you can beat this. we will both beat this and when we do we must take a trip to go get some more jedi knight traing at disney. i cannot wait to meet you in person, benjamin. you truly inspire me on a daily basis and for that i owe you a debt of gratitude and thanks.
belinda--girl, you hang in there and keep being the amazing mother that you are. benjamin is so blessed to have you as his mother and i hope you do know that it is alright for you to have those days like last sunday. you just cannot get bogged down with them because there is so much to do and it seems as if there is so little time to do it in. remember to live each day in the light!!!!!
i love you and think of you often. take care of YOU!!!
all my love,

robb

A holy day has dawned upon us. Come, you nations, and adore the Lord. Today a great light has come upon the earth.
Lord Jesus, there are times that we live in darkness. During these times, we ask that you lead us through these dark moments into the light of your presence. May we never feel ashamed to ask you to help us out of the darkness and into the radiant joy of your light. We ask this in your name. Amen.

Hang in there! I feel all your pains. Somhow when I immersed myself in prayers, these trials and tribulations seem to be lighter. It is not easy and we just have to be brave to go through all these difficulties. I love you ALL.

Casting Crowns
Praise You In This Storm

I was sure by now
That You would have reached down
And wiped our tears away
Stepped in and saved the day
But once again, I say “Amen”, and it's still raining

As the thunder rolls
I barely hear Your whisper through the rain
“I'm with you”
And as You mercy falls
I raise my hands and praise the God who gives
And takes away

I'll praise You in this storm
And I will life my hands
For You are who You are
No matter where I am
Every tear I've cried
You hold in Your hand
You never left my side
And though my heart is torn
I will praise You in this storm

I remember when
I stumbled in the wind
You heard my cry
You raised me up again
My strength is almost gone
How can I carry on
If I can't find You

As the thunder rolls
I barely hear You whisper through the rain
“I'm with you”
And as Your mercy falls
I raise my hands and praise the God who gives
And takes away

I lift my eyes unto the hills
Where does my help come from?
My help comes from the Lord
The Maker of Heaven and Earth

Oh Smith family, I know it gets difficult. Remember Jesus is walking and holding you up right there beside you. Jesus is building your faith. I love the song "Praise Him in the Storm". I use to look for the good in the day. There was times it was hard to find any good, but I would praise Jesus even if it was that Holly brushed her teeth without fussing at me. That seemed to help me on days that I just felt like crying and staying in the shower(water running nobody could hear me cry) Look for the good and praise Him in the Storm!

Oh Ben, I'm so excited you are home. I know you are. I was thinking Friday after reading your update. I too sometimes want to be taken away. There use to be commercials that said "Calgon take me away". I wish there was a bubble bath or bath oil that did take us away just for alittle while. Jesus is growing you up so strong. You are going to be such a warrior for Christ as you grow up. You are already such an inspriation to so many and seeing Christ work in you at such a young age.

I passed a prayer request for my warriors to pray for Ben. I don't always sign, but I'm never to far away in prayer. You guys hang in there. Good days are coming soon.

The Fourth Station on the Way of the Cross... Jesus meets His Blessed Mother....

They met at the turning of the street, they saw each other but couldn't say a word... they simply looked at each other, and their eyes said it all. He wished that He could bear all the pain, so His Mother would have no pain. She wished that she could bear all the pain, so her Son would have no pain.

Yet it was not possible.

THE LITTLEST SOLDIERS

The medals on our chests
Are broviacs for meds
Helments wont stay on
Cause no hair is on our heads.

Our weapons of destruction
We take every day
We fight the battle within us
While we struggle to play.

We fight with honor and courage
No marine could do as well
We are only children
Living in this hell.

So bring on the medals
The purple hearts of war
The gold cross,the silver star
To place upon our scars.

For we are the children of Cancer
No one had fought so hard
But everyday we struggle on
Our LIFE is our REWARD!

A Poem that I found in the web site that is so true for Ben and other children fighting for their lives.
I love you Little Ben,
Baba

Hey Ben,
Great to see you the other night. You're dad, or at least someone downstairs beat me in poker! Remember to give Dr. Lew and Dr. B a punch in the shoulder from Merrill's Dad.
