Monday, August 16, 2004 9:15 PM CDT Dear Friends,
Sorry it has been a while since we have updated Seth’s website.
Things have been busy. Ethan is now 11 weeks old and growing well. He is very healthy and happy, although he is a bit colicky at times. Emily adores her baby brother.
There are a few things to tell you about. First of all, Light the Night is coming up in West Palm Beach on Friday, September 10. That is only four weeks away. We are going to be there and we are inviting you to join us if you live in our area or happen to be in town on that weekend. With Ethan and the work being done on our house we have not had a lot of time to dedicate to putting together a team this year. Rudy and Debbie and their family walked with us last year, but now they are in Indiana. Miss Lori and her husband Eric were also with us last year, but they now live in Melbourne. But we will be there and you are welcomed to join us. Leave us a message or give us a call if you’re interested.
We have also started the Team in Training for the Disney Marathon. I am already in training to run the 26.2 miles. Ruthie has not decided on if she will do it this year. With Ethan, things are a little busy for her. But I am in it for the long haul and this Sunday we have our first team run. If you ever want to do something good for yourself and for a good cause, try Team in Training. Contact the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society or visit their website at Teamintraining.org for more information.
One more project that we have gotten very involved with is the South Florida Children’s Cancer Treatment Foundation. Doctors, nurses, staff and parents of the children being treated at St. Mary’s for cancer and blood disorders established this foundation four years ago. Our goal is to build a clinic dedicated exclusively to treating children with cancer and blood disorders. We are looking at a site on the grounds of the hospital. Right now we are trying to secure land from Tenet, the owners of the hospital. I have been chosen to serve on the board of directors. It is an honor and a privilege to be on this board and I am going to do whatever I have to do to make this happen. Hopefully we will have more information on this soon.
Right now, Hurricane Charley is tearing through the center of the state. Fortunately for us, we are just south of all the action. It has been windy and there has been a little rain, but other than that we have not been affected. It is just another quiet Friday night at home for us.
Seth would have started first grade this week. It has been more than 20 months since he’s been gone. Sometimes it seems like it was just yesterday that he was happy and healthy. Other times it seems like it has been forever since we held him in our arms. I have many pictures of Seth on the walls in my office. Every day I take some time to look at them and think about those days when we were all together. That time was made of gold.
We are doing all of the above things because we are fighting to cure blood-related cancers and childhood cancers. Thanks to all of you who have done so much to help us.
Check out the photos. Two are new. One is old. All are gold.
Peace,
Seth’s Daddy
