Thursday, July 7, 2005 3:38 PM CDT Dear Friends and Family,
I hope this entry finds everyone well and enjoying their Summer. We sure are in the middle of it now! Cannot believe how really hot it is outside. The heat can be exhausting.
The picture above is of Molly and Tampa Bay's Mike Alstott at the fundraiser for the Children's Cancer Center last Spring. Molly painted a very cool(if I say so myself) painting that was given to Mr. Alstott as a gift from the center for all he does for the children of Tampa Bay who suffer from cancer. He is a special man.
A friend asked me the other day how Molly is feeling. I used to be asked daily, now not so often. I was surprised at my reply. Surprised by the fact that I said she was GREAT. I haven't said that in years. Too afraid it would be taken away, too afraid I would jinx something, afraid if I let my guard down I would be letting in some danger. But, it felt good to say it. She is doing great. She looks great and feels great too. Summer has been a huge blessing. She is well rested, well fed and has no stress. It amazes me how this can all effect the immune system. Summer has been good. She has only had one major migraine this summer. It was a bad one, but lasted only a day and she knocked herself out with her meds that she slept it away. We don't visit clinic until early September. She has routine checks with neurology and cardiology in July and August. Medically, that's what we've got.
We went on a family cruise to Mexico and that was tons of fun. I will have to post some pictures. We came home with lots of funny stories and great memories. Other than the trip, we have been here, sleeping late, swimming, going to the movies and visiting with friends. We even learned how to play poker. Meredith is the best one of the bunch though. She picked up on it so fast...scarey! Molly was a junior counselor at the cancer center for camp. She was exhausted by the the end of the week, but really enjoyed herself and her time with the kids. I loved seeing her in action helping the little ones. Its like one big family over there, a home away from home. It got our family through some hard times and will forever hold a special place for us...
Oliver is having the best time ever with his older cousin Jon here. Jon is the brother Oliver never had and they soak up every minute of each other when they are together. We are so lucky to have him with us for 10 days!
We are whole heartedly watching Lance Armstrong's final race...sure he will win! That man is an incredible inspiration to the cancer world. And by that, I do not mean his cycling. I mean how he attacked his own fight and would not let himself believe he would not beat it. My family keeps up with Lance year round.
Please keep our friend Bailee, her Mom and Dad and brother Michael in your prayers. We think of them a great deal and miss them tremendously. Talk about an inspiration. We love you guys!
Better go vacuum!
Love,
Sara
