Seems like things are going pretty well. We were without power for two days, an ice storm and now we are facing several days of snow and such.
Wondeful living here in Maine(but for the young and healthy only).
I appreciate any news I receive. Things just seem to be going down hill, so far behind I think Christmas will not arrive on time.
Just wanted you to know I do keep checking. Love to all, GG

Hi! Do you remember us? Tim was treated at St. Jude from July 2004 to Feb 2005. He's now 2 years out from end of treatment and is doing well. We are SO thankful for that!

Dustin's photos are AWESOME!!! It is such a wonderful miracle to see him and how well he is doing. I hope your trip to St. Jude goes really well. We'll look for an update. I hope that sometime our paths cross again while there!

By the way, did you know the Clarks--Camela & I think, John were the parents' names? I've been trying to find out how their sons are, but haven't seen them, so I'd love it if you have an uptodate email for them! Take care, Deborah Sheets

God Has A Plan

JEREMIAH 29:11 NIV

11 For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD,
"plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you
hope and a future.

Genesis 37 tells the story of Joseph being sold into slavery by
his brothers. At that time, I'm sure it didn't look to Joseph
like God had a plan -- at least not one that was good for him.

Joseph surely thought what many of us have, "Why did you let
this happen to me, God?"

No doubt things looked clearer to Joseph later on when he was
ruling Egypt and was able to save his entire family from
starvation. (Genesis 45-50)

Often life may seem confusing and out-of-control. But don't
despair. God has a plan for you which He is working out. If you
could only see the end He has in mind for you -- you would
begin to rejoice and thank God right now. (Hint, hint.)

SAY THIS: God has a plan for me, and I will trust Him to work
everything out in my life.

Hello there,
I read the above today on Brent Nason's Caring bridge site and it has REALLY helped me today. I thought I'd send it to you . I was glad read your update and know that Dustin seems to be doing well. The pictures of your family were wonderful as well. I hope you and your family have a blessed week and know that I'm praying for you all.
Always BELIEVING,

Hello, I happened upon your web site the other week. I don't think it was by coincidence as I believe God has a purpose for everything even when we can understand it. My family and I are from south Georgia and just to let you know we have some of the greatest prayer warriors ever here. I've never been in your shoes with what you and your family gone through but I want you to know that you have a friend that is standing in the gape praying for you. I pray that God will give you strength as a mom for I'm sure seeing your little boy go through these things is very hard indeed,I pray that God will give you the guidence to lead you through making those tough decisions but most importantly I'm praying for complete earthly healing for Dustin. Our God is a BIG God, A loving God, A merciful God, and a God of healing. I'm putting your family on our pray list at church and know that there are people praying for you and your family. God Bless you

Believeing in HIM !

My dear family in Florida. No complaints at this end, except, the last entry was June? The kids must be in school now and I still have one more box to send. Either the world is going faster or I am going slower: go for the second part. We have been doing a little talking of going to Uncle Bill's on St. John's. It would be a dream if I could go and take little JUlie with us. But, as we all know we do not get all we desire. How did the last test come out? Debbie, Uncle Clyde's daughter is coming up I believe this weekend. She is the nurse and has the three almost triplets. Love you all. Hey Shawna, Dustin, & family -

Just wanted to let you know that you are always in my thoughts and prayers up here in NY - glad to hear things are going pretty well - keep us posted on the newest issue.

One prayer request that perhaps you could pass along to other families-

A family I know up here has just begun the long road of dealing with cancer - their daughter, Ana, (5 months old) has just had emergency surgery to remove a cancerous tumor from her kidney. She is beginning 18 weeks of chemo. I don't know anymore specifics, but they certainly could use prayers.

Give the kids hugs for us!

Love,

Jill & Mike

Please keep in touch and we'll pray for you and your family. Our next visit to St. Jude will be June 29. Our whole family hopes to be able to come. Especially our older son Brendan. Thanks again for your note. Love the Quinlan family, Nancy Patrick, Brendan and Brian.

Hi Dustin,
I am a friend of your Great Uncle Bill (in Maine). Boy, are you an incredible person, never mind that you are still a young boy. Every time I ask him about you, I see this little gleam of excitement in his eyes. He is very proud of you, as everyone else is. I read through all these postings and can't imagine how proud your parents and GG are of you. Keep up the good work! You have been through alot, and you will see that it has all been worth it. You are loved the world over. Hope to meet you someday when you come to Maine.

Whenever I have a bad day at work (with your Uncle Bill), I think about what you have been through...and you know what......My day really is quite easy...STAY STRONG!

Shawna,
Yes Cooper is still on his vitamin regimen. He is doing pretty good with it. We are working on his eating habits as well. Like trying to get him to put a vegetable in his mouth! Unfortunately I didn't make it to the seminar that I was supposed to go to because my kidney stone was acting up again and I didn't want to leave home! I keep finding more and more people who have cured themselves with nutrition. It is very interesting. If you want more info, just email me!

Dear Shawna & Dustin, We've missed seeing you! It's wonderful news to hear about the dead tissue at the tumor site even getting smaller!!!! I was just catching up on some of your past journal entries, Shawna, and I loved the reminder you gave us that the Lord always shows us what to be thankful for in every situation. (I'm sure it helps that YOU have a grateful and faithful way of looking at things!!) I have a friend who calls those "love notes from Heavenly Father." During trials He shows us He is still with us loving us and supporting us even though we have to work through difficult things. I have been SO GRATEFUL for those sweet "notes" to know we are remembered and in God's tender care! And, isn't it a great blessing to have the availability of plastic surgeons (my dad was one, too) for Dustin's eye and even several to choose among. Radiation affected the tear glands in Tim's eyes, too. I'm so glad there are ointments and drops to help with it. I'm sure they will do the trick for Dustin, too. God bless you as you work out the details of Dustin's treatment and we will be praying for a wonderful outcome! Our love, Deborah Sheets P.S. Your family was one of those love notes for us! :0)

Hi,

We have a daughter who has orbital Rhabdo and is now a year off treatment. We also have one of the best cosmetic opthamologist eye surgeons in the country at the University of Washington here in Seattle....he actaully did the original biopsy on Sierra.

We would be glad to put you in touch with him, to discuss alternatives, get a second opinion on the eye surgery...the Seattle area is home to Children's hospital, the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center and bascially the cancer treatment center for the entire Pacific Northwest (WA, OR, ID, MT, AK).

Sierra's story can be found here:

www.caringbridge.com/wa/sierra

Sierra will likely face cosmetic eye surgery in the future...to push her eye out a little further, since the radiation treatment she received casued some of the tissue in the orbit to chnage. It may be an entirely different situation with your son, but we wanted to reach out to you and offer our help.

We are walking this section of the beach with you.

Please feel free to email us: Neaful@yahoo.com

Sincerely,

Sierra's Dad (Neal)

Dear Dustin,

My name is Jenny and I am a mom of 4 kids. I met your dad when my family was on vacation in Florida. He told us all about you! We have been praying for you and want you to know that we have faith that God will ALWAYS be right there next to you as you go through this experience. We actually live in Memphis and KNOW that St. Jude is an awesome place. Anyway, I want you to do something for me. Tell you mom that if she wants a new friend in Memphis that I'd love to meet her. I can also help her with keeping you siblings while she is busy at St. Jude or can bring her things she may need while she keeps you company at the hospital. I KNOW how busy life can be with kids and I would love to have a friend that has such an awesome son! So.... give her that message for me and tell her she can reach me just about anytime through email. My home number is 901.753.0600 and my cell number is 901.488.3017.

Keep getting well! Glad your progress has been so positive!!

Love ya kiddo!

Hi Shawna and Dustin, It was SO GOOD to hear that the scans were clean...such a lift to hear good news. (We need more of it and more often.) It sounds like those vitamins are having quite an effect! Aren't we blessed to have such an arsonal--medical, nutritional and spiritual. I've often thought of the scripture that the Lord notices every hair that is lost. I have come to realize that He means it literally especially, I'm sure, as it applies to His children who lose their hair to chemo and other devastating challenges. Well, hugs to you all and please keep in touch. Deborah Sheets

Hello Dustin!! You don't know me but your sweet mother remembers us somehow from St. Jude when we were there with my sweet step-son, Tyler. I was happy to hear from your mom that she remembered us in such a special way & was touched by her words. (thank you Shawna!) Anyway, I wanted to tell you Dustin that you have got the most beautiful blue eyes I have ever seen in my life! (don't tell my 8 year old blue eyed daughter that, hehe) I can see from all your amazing pictures of all of your family that you have so many people that love & support you. Isn't God GREAT!!!! No matter what, always remember that God will never leave your side. He is always with you & there when you want to talk. You keep fighting that ugly cancer bug & LIVE STRONG! We will be praying for you & your precious family. Give a big hug to your mommy from me, okay? Hang in there & remember that Jesus loves you! God Bless sweet boy!!

Hello Shawna, Dustin and the rest of the family. I was so excited that I was able to find your website. It has been so long since we were in touch. The last time we saw you Tim and I had hoped to get together with you, but I got sick. Today I was thinking about you and wondering what was happening and I remembered you were from FLorida, so found your website again!! Tim and I came home Feb.2--a month earlier than we had expected, so we were scurrying around at the end. We go back Feb 22-26 for his final scans.
When do you go back to St.Jude next? Well, it sound like things are progressing well and we are happy about that. Sorry about the orange juice problem and earache on top of chemo. Hope to hear from you soon. Tim's website is /ut/timothy if you'd like to check in.

Kev misses you and when we pray together at night, he always has to be the one to pray for you. Uncle Lance hurt his knee, back and neck, so we have been in and out of doctor's offices and physical therapy offices....You know how much fun that is, right?! We have to go in today so he can get an MRI. My friend Christy has two boys, Brandon 9 and Nathan 5. They are great! Being around them helps because I miss being around you, Ry and Lyd but at the same time being around them makes me miss you guys even more!! Maybe you will meet them one day, if you want too. Brandon plays soccer, and Nathan is going to start this year. And Brandon just got an xbox for Christmas. Uncle Lance, Kev, Brandon, and Nathan get together and play Halo 2 all the time. Good morning Dustin. This is Sandy in Maine. I've taken some time this morning to read some more of your latest news. I am so thankful to your mom and your nana for these updates. However, this latest brought tears to my eyes and then, of course, joy to hear the outcome. You have all been through so much and continue to go through more and I just can't even imagine all the emotions. Shawna and Ben, even though I am unable to see you both very often, you are always in my prayers, along with Dustin. You two (actually all three of you) are an inspiration to me. So much pain but so much joy follows. Dustin, please know that I think of you everyday and pray for you every day. Cody and Brittany send their love. Cody misses you alot and hopes to see you again sometime soon. Dustin, I saw GG this morning. You were the first thing she talked about - as always. She loves you very much. Dustin, This is Aunt Georgia checking in with you from Vancouver, Wa. I am a close friend of your PopPop and TuTu's. I knew your Nana when she was a young girl living in Hawaii. We all went to the same church and have remained close all these years. Dustin, I am so very proud of you, your Mom and your Dad. You are a very brave young man and know that I hold you close to my heart and pray for you often. I remember when your Dad was just a very young lad and moving from the Alaska area and stopped in Portland, Oregon. Uncle Howdy and I had your Nana and Granddad at our house. I have a picture of "Ben" when he was about 4 years old. Such a handsome fellow, your Dad. Well, sweetie, I continue to pray for you and your family. Please tell TuTu and PopPop and Nana and everyone that Aunt Georgia sends her love to you.

Hi Dustin:
It was so nice to meet you this morning at the shopping trip at K-Mart in Pensacola. I also enjoyed meeting your mom and other members of your family. I have just spent the last hour reading your journal and the messages in your guestbook from all your friends and family. You seem to have tons of friends all over this earth! Wow!
Well, you sure are a strong and brave kid. I hope the Hot Wheels and your CD player work out fine. It was a pleasure to meet you and spend that hour shopping. I also want to invite you to the Pensacola Kiwanis annual Easter Egg hunt and picnic in March. We will hold it at the Gull Point Recreation Center on Creighton Rd in Pensacola. Please stay in touch so that we can let you know the exact date. It would be nice to see you again.
I hope you continue to feel good and that you enjoy a nice Christmas vacation from school for a couple of weeks.
I think parents everywhere would be extremely happy to have a nice and positive boy like yourself. Keep that smile going. I have told all my friends about meeting you today. I hope we can stay in touch.
Love,

Dustin, Keep your chin up. My son Josh had the same thing last year that you have now. Josh had to go to the hospital 4 different times for a total of 17 days because of fevers and they never found anything. Blood cultures were always negative. We bought him a portable PlayStation I for him to use from his hospital bed. So we would just sit back and wait it out. He even had to have 2 transfusions. But this is all in the past for Josh and it will be for you too. Josh has been outside today, running around shooting everything in the yard with his paintball gun. Everything is all back to normal for him. This time next year, this will all be just a crummy memory for you.

Hey Dustin. I like your hair cut. My wife had one just like that once. I think that I met you when you were in Ms. Harrison's Pre-K class. I'm Ms Harrison's dad. I had my bashful monkey and my pet rat named Jumpy with me. Remember? He wasn't a real rat, but he sure could jump. That's quite a smile that you have. Did you know that smiles are contagious. That's right. When you smile at someone they will usually smile right back. A smile is the best medicine in the whole world. And from the pictures on your web site and the letters in the guest book, it looks like you have a lot of people who love you, and your smile. I might just borrow your smile for a few seconds. I know a grumpy old guy who could sure use a smile like that. Don't worry, thought. I'll give it right back to you. In fact, you won't even know that I borrowed it. Oh yeah, my wife's hair all grew right back just like your's will. You're a great kid, Dustin, and I love you and I'll keep looking at your web site so that when they put your picture with your new grown hair on the computer I'll be sure to see it. And all that love that you are getting, keep a little for yourself, and give the rest to some young, or old, person who needs some love too. God bless you and keep you strong.

Oh my word! what a darling little boy Dustin is!
Shawna, Thank you for letting us know you are out there so we can encourage you!

I believe Dustin will be used of God greatly and this situation perhaps had to come in the process.

Just remember, THE LORD IS CALLING ALL OF US TO A GREATER LEVEL IN HIM. HE'S COMING VERY SOON AND HE WANTS US TO BE STRONG, FAITHFUL BELIEVERS SO WE CAN TELL OTHERS WHAT HE HAS DONE FOR US.

I know your journey is a tough one but YOU WILL go through this valley and Dustin WILL LIVE to tell the story of how he overcame.

I love this song:

" I STILL HAVE A FUTURE, JUST YOU WAIT AND SEE. I STILL HAVE A TOMORROW, GOD'S NOT THROUGH WITH ME."

This is a season in your life YOU WILL NEVER , NEVER FORGET.

YOU WILL NEVER BE THE SAME!
Oh there will be times when you wish your life could go back to the way things were before cancer but God says, "you can't because you are to testify of my healing power."

You have an absolutely beautiful family. You are truley blessed!

I am here for you!

I just wanted you and your family to know that my family and I are praying for you. I heard about your grandson through a lady I work with in Niceville. My godson was born with Downsyndrome and I understand that some times what we have to watch a child go through is very difficult, Sometimes what happens is harder on us then on them. We will keep praying that the Lord will give ALL of you strength!!!!!

Hi Dustin and all,
It is great to hear your story and see your updates. Rhabdo is a pretty scary thing, but with the love and support of your family and doctors, and your own special kind of bravery, I know you can do it.
I am a dad of a 7 year old who was diagosed with orbital rhabdomyosarcoma last year. Sierra ended treatment in March (yes it does end:>) and was on a similar protocal to you (Vincristine, Actinomyocin-D, adn 5 weeks of radiation).
Sierra is doing great and we are thinking of you and your family as you go through this. (www.caringbridge.com/wa/sierra).

We just wanted to reach out from across the country and let you know we are thinking of you, and if you parents or family want to talk, share stories, ask questions, we are here for you.

p.s. We love our x-box too!

Hi. My name is Cheri and I just read your story for the first time. I went to high school with your mom and learned about your story through my high school website. I love St. Jude's...don't you?! I live in Tampa and work at the Melting Pot and we had the oppotunity to work hand in hand with St. Jude's last year. You are in awesome hands!
I also wanted you to know that we are thinking about you and praying for you and your family. How are you feeling? I hope good. I'm glad to hear that you get to go home soon. That's great news! I will continue to monitor your website for updates. Take care!

I just wanted you to know that we've been in your shoes....29 years ago! Our Matt is fast approaching his 33rd birthday, he's been cancer free for more than 25 years, he's been married 12 years and has two beautiful children. There is life after rhabdo and I wanted you to have proof of that. I'll remember your family in my prayers, that's really all that gets us through these things. God is good all the time....God Bless.

Hi Smith family,
Wanted to let you know how much fun we had hanging out with all of you. Was good to see first hand how ya'll were doing. I'm soooooooo glad that you're going to be coming home next week. I know it will be good for ya'll to be in your own home and beds. Miss Rylee did great coming home. Her and Madeline entertained each other so made it a better trip.
We stayed at Kerrie's house the first night we came home because we still had no power or phones. What a blessing. Wonderful bed and hot water!!! All the power came back on the next day at around 2:00 pm. So everything is pretty much back to "normal" in our house. Still need to rake and clean yard. John still doesn't have power or phones. Hopefully today they'll get it back on.
Take care and God bless and thank you for all of your help when we were there. Well, except for maybe for the Red Roof Inn. Ha Ha!!!!! We love you guys.

Hey Dusty Boy.Missed your dads' b/day.We'll have to bake a cake when you get home.Luc baked cupcakes the other day, vanilla, all by himself. He was very proud-they turned out great.Arianne tried to make brownies tonight. She used Nanas' brownie recipe.I'm not sure what happened, but those brownies were very different-very,very mushy. We'll have to try that one again.Jon is playing that tuba "thing".It's starting to sound like music.Marc has a soccer game at least once a week, usually his team wins.He plays 6 on 6,less players, and a much smaller feild. The hurricane season is here,1st Charley, then Frances-no damage around here. Now there's Ivan in the Gulf-looks like a mean one, were watching the weather often. The kids just hope for days off school!Well,Dusty keep on keepin on,the kids send their love. The boys lift you up in prayer at school.I think and pray for you everyday.Luv,T

Hey Dusty Boy, What a bummer. I had written all this stuff down and the computer kicked me off, UGH!!!! I had Ragtime when Nana and Pop were in Tenn. Poor Rag, you know how he hates tile floor, my foors are mostly tile. And, he's never been around sooo many cats, he behaved like a true gentleman. Timmy, Ari's dog, was very upset about having another dog in the house, he had to be muzzled. He's a great barker, and still managed to "bark", sort-of, with his muzzle on. Marc played his 2nd soccer game tonight, they lost 1-2. His first game was a blow-out, they won, 9-1. The boys all say hello. They understand why, and how long you'll be gone. Marc said he'd come see you if he could. We miss you. Be kind, remember your prayers, give your sisters a hug, and your Mom and Dad a kiss. Luv, T

Hey Dusty Boy, have you watched any of the Olympics? The boys and I have watched every night, we love the swimming, and gymnastics. Did you know that badmitton is a sport? I took Oli out today, I wear leather gloves so I don't get scratched. The cats, particularly Beaubeau- the big black one, are very interested in Oli when he is out of his cage. The boys all send their love and prayers. Luc wanted to know if you're getting use to your glasses? Remember both Luc and Jon have to wear glasses everyday, and I think their both very handsome. Dustin,

Hey young man! I know just a whole bunch of people have told you how blessed you are to have so many people praying for you and your family. I also know it is hard to imagine just how blessed you are. Having someone pray for you and lift your name up to our Heavenly Father is one of the most wonderful gifts in the world. SOOOOO Many people are doing that for you and your family right now. You are a blessed young man.

Hey - have you got a map and looked at where all of your emails are coming from. Sure would be fun to get a map and put a flag on all of the Cities and Towns where your emails and cards are coming from. Then you can tell and show people where all of your friends live.

Tell your grandmother she rocks. The web page is really cool. Tell your grandmother Mary thanks for giving us the information to find the web site. We are very blessed to be able to pray for you and your family. Take care and get well really soon. I know there are alot of friends ready to play when you get home.

GOD works wonderful miracles and we know that he has a special one for you. It may not come as soon as we would like it to, but because you are soooo special it may take a little longer. I wish you could be here to look out our windows and see the baby deer with their mommys. They are so tiny, but every day they get stronger. That is how you will be. Every day you will fight this cancer, and soon you will be back running and playing with all of your friends.Know that GOD has loving arms wrapped around you ,as do we, along with all your new and old friends. What a powerful chain that is. One that will not be broken with all of our prayers and love. LOVE and PRAYERS to YOU and ALL of your family.

Hey Dustin!
What a great haircut! Sorry about those stomach aches! Stephen had those too! We finally figured out that it was a side effect of Vincristine. It went away after a time. I hope yours does too! We will be praying for you and your family!

Hi Dustin,
Wow! You are absolutely amazing. Your story has really touched me, and I believe that you are an extremely brave and strong young man.

I am sure that we have never met, but I feel like I know you very well, just from the pictures I have seen and the stories I have read. I am a friend of your Aunt Julia, Uncle Lance, and your Pop (wonderful friends, though I do give your Pop a headache on a regular basis).

Keep fighting this, Dustin. God has a plan for you, and I believe it is to touch the lives of your family and friends, and even those of us who have not had the honor to hug you or even talk to you.

What a blessing you are! You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers! Keep your spirits up and remember to smile (you have a beautiful smile).

With Love, Erica

Thank You for putting this site together, there are many of us who are traveling this journey with you however at a distance. As a co-worker of Pop I hate to ask how things are going for Dustin so as not to cause him anymore pain than he is going through in support of his grandson. With this site many of us can stay at a distance but still offer our prayers and support.
God Bless Justin
and God Speed in his treatment and recovery.

Dustin, I just want to let you know that I think you are a very brave young man. I have you in my prayers and want to let you know that Dr. Poppell is a Great Doctor as I am sure all the others are also. I worked for him for six years until a couple of months ago and I had to move. Your story and courage is an inspiration to all young and old. Trust in God and all thinks are possible. I will follow your progress and pray for a speedy recovery.

Holy Cow what a tough young man you are, I'm so impressed. Your friend George Fountas has been keeping me posted on your progress, and today showed me your website. (Awesome job NANA).

Dustin, having been sick a few times myself, the most important thing to remember is that God never gives us a load heavier than we can carry. So my new friend that makes you a pretty special (tough) guy.

I wish you much strength on your upcoming trip, and a speedy return back to the place where all the NICE people live.

I hope you dont mind but I'm going to forware your website to some other friends who will find you to be quite the special young man also. I have noticed you already have an impressive list of well wishers.

I have a neice who was born early and only weighed 1lb 10oz, and Dustin she like you is a work of God. After a 5 and 1/2 month stay in the hospital, she is now home, close to 15 lbs, and screams loud for her mom and dad. I'm sure in a very short time you will be tearing up the streets with your sisters and your family will look back at this as a positive growing experience.

Your in my thoughts and prayers, and I will watch your progress closely (being a cancer survivor myself)

Dear Dustin,

I saw your picture on the website, and I must say, you are a very good looking boy. Maybe we can go on a date sometime. Ha!

I am a grandmother to little Lorelei, in CA, who is only 8 months old. I am also co-founder of Kindred Spirits International. My friend, Lynda Young, has already contacted your parents, because she is writing a book for parents with children in the hospital.

My neice, Vicki Miller, and her husband, Larry, and two children, Zack and Madelyn sent me an email to let me know you were sick. I live in Memphis, TN, where I teach music to children in school. I am also writing some books for children. The first one is a cookbook for kids, called the Jelly Bean Kids. The others are on all kinds of crafts for kids, one is on music, with a CD, and the last one are stories for children. When they are completed, I will send you a copy. As soon as my Jelly Bean Kid T-shirts are made, I will send you one of those, so you can be an official member of the Jelly Bean Kid Club.

I hope you will be feeling better soon. I read all about you on your web site, and can see that you are very strong and full of courage. Did you know that God will give you the courage you need to do what the doctors ask you to do. Sometimes it is very hard to be strong, but you just pray every day for that extra strength that you need, and God will send it to you.

Everyday, I will say a prayer for you and for your family. I have shared your story with the children whom I teach and those in my church, so you will know that 100's of children in Memphis are praying for you.

Love and blessings to you...

Hey Dustin and all of your "fam"! I read that you have an Aunt Julie - I also am an Aunt Julie here in Middleburg, FL (just south of that big ol' crazy city of Jacksonville). Except we have lots of cows and horses around here in our neighborhood - I bet you would just love to see the new little colt just down the street. He is so cute! Just like you! Anyways, I hear that you are quite a brave little guy and that you have been going through some pretty tough things lately and I just thought there was something you should know. If God will take care of a little baby horse and keep him safe through all the scary storms we've been having around here [a tree in our yard just got hit by lightning about 2 weeks ago - I got to see it happen! Really cool but kinda scary! - I saw a big red flash and it cut the tree in half both ways so the whole top half ended up laying on the ground!], he will certainly take extra special care of you because you are His special child. I'm sure that little colt gets pretty scared when those loud storms come through here because he just doesn't understand what's happening, just like you might be sometimes when the doctors are having to do something that doesn't feel good or when you're having to go get treatments and rest when you would rather be outside playing or riding your bike. The people that love that little horse take good care of him and keep him safe through those storms just like God and all of your family and friends are going to take good care of you during this "thunderstorm" in your life. So keep being brave Little Colt and soon you too will be out romping in the fields with the rest of the strong and beautiful horses!

p.s. I'll try to send you a picture of him!

Hi Dustin,
You don't know me but I am currently working with Mr Neil Woods in the desert and am in the USAF. I just want to and your family to know that you are in the hands of the Great Healer. Matthew 7:7 says "Keep on asking, and you will be given what you ask for. Keep on looking, and you will find. Keep on knocking, and the door will be opened." (NLT) If you keep asking God to help you he will. He has healed me Dustin and I know he can heal you. I am adding you to the Pensacola Christian Motorcyclists Association prayer list so a bunch of bikers are going to be praying for you also. God's got you in his hands!!!! I'll talk to you later. Be good.

Dustin,
I have never been fortunate enough to meet you personally, but I have been blessed by your story. Because of you, our church is once again coming together and praying for a common cause greater than ourselves, and that is for God's mercy and healing in your life.

By the way, if there is a special song that is your favorite, if you let me know, I'll ask Eldon if we can play it for you. I am also going to ask if we can dedicate the first song each week to you while you are in Pennsylvania. I'll let you know what they say.

I'm glad to hear how well you did with your treatments so far. Take care, and may God abundantly Bless you today and always,

Ms. Donna Moore

Hi Dustin,

This is your long lost Great-Aunt Bonnie in Hawaii. Your Grandma Kerrie and I were friends when we were little girls, here in Hawaii. (It's hard to imagine that she was a little girl once, isn't it?) And I remember your Dad as a baby. What a rascal he was! Dustin, You're in our thoughts and prayers . . . and more importantly, you're in God's loving hands. Hug your Nana for me, okay?

Hi Dustin,
Jesus is going to become even more real to your heart in these coming days. He truly is ' the friend that sticks closer than a brother'...and will help other people know Jesus better because of your visiting the hospital more often. You'll be able to share about Jesus with the other children there and be able to pray for them, too. What an awesome job and opportunity the Lord is giving you and your family...
You and your family are in our prayers. We love you all very much...and love seeing the Lord in your faces...You bless our hearts...
In Christ's love...with hugs...TerriAnn and family

Hi Dustin, wow what to say! You are great and greatly loved! I was thinking about you and your mom and dad the other day, not really praying but just thinking about you all. Really how much I love you all! While I was thinking about you the pastor of my church was reading in Psalms and this was right there in front of me so I thought I would just share it with you. Psalms 103:1-5 Bless the Lord, O my soul; and all that is within me, bless His holy name! Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not ALL His benefits: Who forgives all your iniquities, Who heals all your diseases, Who redeems your life from destruction, Who crowns you with lovingkindness and tender mercies, Who satisfies your mouth with good things, So that your youth is renewed like the eagle's. God's got some good promises and one of them is that He will never leave you nor forsake you. I love you all and wish I could be there to help carry the load. I am there in my heart and in my prayers! Rachel

Hello Dustin, I'm Mr. Neil, Gannon Woods' Daddy. I am currently deployed with the Air Force in the Middle East. Miss Casondra told me all about your story and I want you to know that our small Bible study group here in the desert, half way across the world, is praying for you and asking God to make you all better. Hey Dust! Your Aunt Julie here....Wow! what a way to shake up our world, huh? I love you very much. You are such an important part of my life and our family. I know this whole situation mostly sucks , but there are some good things about it. You have been able to wear a pilot's hat and sit in the cockpit of an airplane. You got to ride a train around Philly and go to some of the coolest museums ever! You have gotten to know a part of your family that you might not have had the chance to know very well. I have heard Lauryl and Mason are the BEST. You have the most wonderful family any kid could ever hope for. (I know this because they are my family too!) When this is all over Dust, you will have the experience and wisdom of having survived cancer. You know that there is hope and you can give that to other children and their parents. You are an amazing person, kid. I will talk to you soon....

Hi Buddy....
This is your Nana signing in our your very own guestbook! Shoot.. you actually have your very own web page set up here! Nana set up this page so all your friends and family can keep up with how you are doing and where you are. Dustin, there are people from all over the country and world praying just for you. That is how special you are. Having that "cancer tumor" is pretty serious, but your Mom and Dad are making sure you get the best of care to get rid of it. That means going places and seeing doctors and seeing MORE doctors. But you can do it...you need to be strong through this tough time. Your Mom and Dad... this is really hard on them Dustin. SO make sure to give them lots of hugs and kisses - esp your Mom.

Remember honey, Jesus is watching over you especially close right now. I know you would like to just dig that stupid tumor out and get rid of it once and for all. It will happen though... that tumor will be gone. God has a special plan for your life and I look forward to watching you grow and fulfill the calling God has on you.

Dustin, you are a very special person to Pop and me. No one snuggles as good as you do! Of course, you know that already, huh? I love you so much and so does Pop. We pray for you all the time and know that that God is helping us all be strong for you and with you. We sure will be glad when you are all better. I love you Buddy...always.

Hi Dustin, it's Sandy in Maine. What a wonderful Nana you have! I am so pleased to be able to go to a website to check on you. GG has been keeping me updated and I've been thinking about you every day and saying lots of prayers. Cody asks about you just about every day and he is sad for you, but I keep telling him that you'll be ok. He wants you to feel better and keeps talking about our trip to Las Vegas. Brittany and Cody both send their love and so do I. To Shawna, Ben, Doug, and Kerrie - my heart aches for you all and I am so amazed at your strength. I've been optimistic throughout and will continue to be. You are all in my prayers and thoughts each and every day. Love, Sandy (and Uncle Billy)
