Today, I saw that my mom wished Michael “Happy Birthday” on Facebook. I ended up clicking on his page and scrolling a little bit. I saw that he has a daughter now - and I see so much of Bailee in her sweet, beautiful face. Memories came flooding back - brownie troop #89, softball, school. I started looking at old pictures and news articles and then came across this website. I used to come on this site a lot, but it’s such been a long time…I am so glad it’s still here. I think of Bailee often. I still have the letters she would write me while she was in New York. I still have the bracelet she made me. Every time I pass by a Hooters, the first thing I think of is Bailee. So many good memories with her that I’ve never once forgotten and hope to always keep with me. I love you and miss you everyday, Bailee.

Hi Robin! I have been thinking of you TONS lateley, and the fabulous Bailee, and how we laughed sometimes at the silliest things.
I lost my wonderful dad in July from pneumonia of all things. He was 58. It's only been a month, but I really can't wrap my head around the idea. I was with him in the ICU while he was intubated every day for 3 weeks - I kept thinking of when Bailee was in the PICU in NY and you stayed by her side - like you always did - sleeping there and watching over everything. I had strength for his short illness thinking of your amazing strength during Bailee's long one. Loss is universal. It just makes you ache.
Tell Bailee to hang out with my Dad - he was a funny guy who was great with children and would love to play a card game with her and laugh.

My sons still love their Easter baskets and up until yesterday, my younger son still believed in the Easter Bunny. I screwed that up big time. I had dinner with my family and my mother-in-law. Someone left this poem on Michele website and I wanted to share it with you....

God looked around his garden,
And found an empty place.
He then looked down upon the earth,
And saw your tired face.
He put his arms around you,
And lifted you to rest;
God's garden must be beautiful-

He always takes the best.
He knew that you were in pain;
He knew you would never get well on earth again.
He saw the road was getting rough
And hill were hard to climb
So he closed your weary eyelids, and whispered,
"Peace be thine."
It broke our hearts to lose you,
But you didn't go alone,
For part of us went with you,
The day God called you home.

This poem made me cry, but I feel like it is so true. I know you have been having a hard time lately and we haven't spoken in a while, but I think about you often and I hope to talk to you soon.

Hi Robin.....
Almost every time I hear of a child is taken by cancer, I think of Bailee. My heart breaks. Each loss leaves such a void in the lives of families and so many others.
Wanted you to know I'll remember Bailee forever also.
I'm so happy Michael is in high school now and growing up to make you so proud. Don't forget sometimes speedbumps hit them in these teen years (ALL too normal), but he'll come out well on the other side in that case. It helps to have a guardian angel!!!

Robin... I don't know if you'd ever remember me, but I was a nurse at the clinic in at All Children's many many many years ago when Bailee was first diagnosed. For some reason today, I was reminiscing about those years and was thinking of Bailee and Erin Kisielewski running around the clinic, and of you and Bailee going to the Britney Spears concert, and of Nurse Pam singing, "Bai-leeee...Bai-lee Dunnigan" (to the tune of "Daaa-vy...Da-vy Crockett" of course)... so anyway... I Googled her. I want to say how sorry I am for your loss of your sweet girl. I know I don't post messages on here as much as I should, but I just wanted you to know that your whole family, and especially your beloved Bailee are all very close in my heart, in my continued and daily prayers, and close in my thoughts too. I also cannot believe it's been two years since Bailee passed. It does seem like a lifetime, and she was such a vibrant girl. Although I didn't personal know her; or know you or your family, my heart continues to break for each of you every single day. It is so unfair that cancer has to strike anyone at any age; but especially the innocent children. I am sorry about that last part, but sometimes cancer gets me so angry. I hope you know that Bailee is and continues to be very special to me; and although I don't post on here every day, I do pray for you and your family, and your beloved family as well. I also check for updates on her website. I was glad to see an update tonight. Take care of yourself, and Michael too. I am always here, praying for you, and Believing in Bailee-every single day.

On my birthday, last Monday, I was at Epcot with Austin, and I had just gotten a Mango Margerita, and was feeling very happy and peaceful, when suddenly this large Monarch butterfly just started dive bombing my face! It reminded me of the first time I went to your house, shortly after Bailee passed, and I pulled into your driveway, and I wasn't sure it was your house until this large Monarch butterfly started dive bombing my car! I knew I was in the right place and Bailee was being her beautiful, playful self, and I felt her presence at that moment at Epcot as well. I was laughing out loud! As I have said before, you have a very powerful angel with you, and she will always be remembered and always be missed...

You and your family are VERY strong. My daughter is now officially a senior and just the thought of letting her go off to college is heartwrenching. Our newspaper had an entire article this weekend on families that lose a child. Sadly you are not alone but we all learn many important lessons from those children including your little Bailee. My daughter learned from Bailee that there are worse things out there than anorexia and if she can just face them with smiles and enjoy her life, she will be a much happier, well grounded young lady.

Hi! My name is Meg and I'm 16-- I have followed Emily Lester's story and was looking back at some of her old entries and found a link to your page. I don't often sign guestbooks, but I saw so many similarities between Bailee and my friend Nora, who died from ALL in Dec 2004 at 14. Nora was also treated with a BMT at MSKCC, but more importantly, she also LOVED to read! I think Bailee's Book Club is an excellent idea! I recently organized a read-a-thon in memory of Nora to raise money for childhood cancer research at MSKCC (the address is http://readfornora.pledgepage.org if you want to take a look)

I am so sorry for the loss of your daughter Bailee-- it seems like she was an amazing girl. Thank you for sharing her story and its great that her love of reading can still be shared with others :)

I just ate some Sour Patch Kids and couldn't help but think of your Bailee. I still think of her often and have a framed picture she drew for me up in my apartment in Gainesville. I smile each time I look at it. I am starting the Master's in Occupational Therapy program at UF in May. Please know that your girl is one of the reasons I am pursuing this career. Robin, I have one dumb habit (well, probably lots more).
I put my car keys in my pocket or purse, and then double
check before I get out of the car, or before I lock the car to
be SURE they are still there. Well, today I used a fanny pack, so
Bailee's blue keychain could hang out of the zippered pocket, and
I did NOT need to look again to see if the keys were really there.....

I am remembering Bailee on Valentine's Day. Okay I am one day late. This is a special day for me because it was the day me and Bailee made those cookies and made such a mess at RMD. That was so great. Maybe it was like the day before. I wonder if there is still frosting on their ceiling! It is also the day my mom got my referral from China in 1996 when I was 56 days old. It says that on the papers: Mao Yue age 56 days and its my only baby picture until I was adopted. Thinking of you and always thinking of my Bailee Ann Dunnigan.
