OMG, I just looked at the new pictures of baby girl! Its hard to beleive that big girl is the same as the very little girl I used to hold. She is getting so big and looks wonderful! Im so happy to hear she is doing good at school! Arianna keeps saying "Mom.. K! K mom!" there seems to be only a few things that she remembers to say since the seizure, but asking for Kearstin is always one of them. Our girls will always have a special bond, just like their mommies :) I love and miss you all very much. Maybe after we get back from the brain stuff in June we will come for a visit. We would love to see everyone again. Arianna has her picture book of when we were there in Dec and keeps it with her all the time:) Did I ever send you the CD I made w/ all the pictures? Let me know ok?

hi there kearstin this is amy harleys mommy harley just got over the bad flu last week and now i have it yuck she was really sick tho.fever all week and not eating and drinking back on tube feedings now she also had ear infections. Happy birthday, Kearstin!!! You made it, baby! Just wanted to let you guys know we think about you often and you are still in our prayers. Sounds like Kearstin is doing well. Emma is too. Shie recently had a stent placed in her left pulmonary artery which went smoothly. She had a really bad virus that landed us in the ER last week becuase we thought she may be getting dehydrated. She is much better now and was able to fight the virual infection all by herself with no hospital stays, just a visit. Anyway, once they hit the one year mark, things seem to really pick up. Hi FLorie, I know how devestating it can be. On my birthday I walked into the CICU and saw little Marybeth is the iron lung. It wasn't exactly what I hoped for. Then I realized. hey she is still here and that is what mattered most. Like your friend Marie said. God knows what is best although we don't know why or may not agree with the little knowledge we have. However, Kearstin did give you the wonderful present of being here almost a year and fighting so hard to stay with you for years to come. I know it is easy for me to write that but it is true. HI... sorry we got cut off. Arianna pulled on the phone cord... I think it was a sign that you were supposed to get some rest. I was so releived when you called. Like Kathy said I was talking to Nicholas ALL day and I think so was Arianna. Today was the most that Ive heard her coo and giggle in a long time. Kathy told you about the robot, I do beleive it was nicholas telling me he was watching both girls and he was listening! Arianna is sleeping now, but we are going to the docs tomorrow, unless the swelling gets worse and then I will see you sometime tomorrow. I hope not. not that I wouldnt mind seeing you all, but you know how it is. Cardio said it might be that there was stress to her heart, but said they dont want to see her unless it gets worse. Gee that is reassuring!!!! I love you all and pray things are better from here on out! Baby Kearstin is a trooper just like Arianna and one of these days we will sit back on one of our front porches and laugh about how stressed we were and they will say "MOM... Im ok!!!!" give ron a hug for me and kearstin a kiss from us and tell her we love her :)

It's so good to read your update. I'm so glad that everything went well for Kearstin today. I was getting anxious waiting to hear from you.
Bridget and I were e-mailing each other earlier and she told me she was talking to Nicholas, asking him to watch over Kearstin, and a new robot that she bought for Arianna started making noise. She knows it was Nicholas letting her know he could hear her!

Hi. You don't know me, but Bridget, Arianna's mom told me about Kearstin. My son Adam was born 6wks early with a cleft lip/palate. When he was less than a month old, the doctors found out he had a problem with his heart, and on May 2 had immediate open-heart surgery to correct Total Anamolous Pulmonary Venus Return. With him being on ECMO, so many drugs and antibiotics, dialysis and having a small blood clot in his brain, the doctors didn't know what kind of condition he was going to be in when he was fully awake. After almost 2 months of being on a vent, he was able to breath on his own. If not, he was going to get a trach tube. I was beside myself. I had no idea what I was putting my baby through. But he has overcome so many hurdles and blowing the doctors away with even the smallest milestone. He will be develometnally delayed, but we have PT,OT & speech coming to see him on a weekly basis to help him achieve those milestone. Sorry to ramble. I hope all goes well with the surgery.

Kearstin and Florie I received your wonderful gift today.Of all days to receive such a beautiful gift today was the best. I woke up this morning with the feeling that I had to complete Mykenzie's passing so I began to pack up her belongings. The hardest to put away was her crib which held all her buddies, but in the same sense it was the hardest thing to see at night so empty.Then I put all her clothes,toys,animals,and bath things in containers.My mom is getting me some big industrial size bags to put Mykenzie's larger things away in so they stay fresh and clean until I decide weather or not I want to donate some of Mykenzie's lovely things to the hospital for the babies that have nothing or nobody.So as I opened my front door to put the trash out your package was there,I dropped what I was holding and opened it and it brought tears of joy to my eyes to see something so beautiful from a family I've only know for short time.Florie god brought our families together for a reason I too am always here if you need anything.I'm glad to see Kearstin is doing well tell her Aunt Michelle said to continue the great job and her buddy Mykenzie will watch over always.God bless your family. We definitly need to get together some day soon and I know you and your family were at Mykenzie's funeral in spirit. I'm going to mail you here memorial book I made for her viewing.Thaks for all the nights you were there with open ears to her me let go of anger ,disappontment and some times joy.Your truely a friend I will cherish always.

Hi Florie, I am a friend of the Papacodas, and following your beautiful little girl. I have been so sadden by all the losses of all these beautiful families and want you to know i pray for your sweet baby every day. I love seeing the new pictures, all though we don't know each other I feel you are part of our lives and we are praying that the good new keeps coming. My father died of a heart disease at 48, cardio myopathy, and I have always been a big advocate of supporting heart related issues. Can't wait to see more pictures. I have three children 7,5,3 - can't even begin to imagine what your are going thru as well as Sarah, we have known them since Sammy was little, and we just so saddened and devasted to see her go to the angels. We are so happy to see some good news, I thought I would right as I check in daily and wanted to know we are praying in Connecticut.

Hi, my name is Beth Haycock. You don't know me but I am a good friend of Jen Papacoda, Sarah Papacoda's sister-in-law. When I started reading Kaitlyn Papacoda's journal Jen had given me Kearstin's address. Everytime I checked in on Kaitlyn I checked in on your beautiful baby girl as well. I miss hearing about how Kaitlyn is doing, but I'm still checking in on your little girl (I hope that you don't mind). Everytime I read your journal another baby is gone. It is horrible! I have a 6 year old daughter named Savannah and a 17 month old baby girl named Madison. Madison was born 3 months early and weighed only 1 pound 13 ounces 13 inches. She was born March 24,2002 and was not due until July 1,2002. She spent 3 months in the hospital. Thanks to lots of prayers from friends, family and "strangers" and especially to G-d, she is perfect and healthy and a very happy baby today. It is truly a miracle!! We are still waiting to find out why she was so anxious to get here so early. Her big sister was only 6 weeks early (she was anxious too I guess). I just wanted to let you know that there are people that you don't know (strangers) and may never meet that have read Kearstin's story and are thinking of you and hoping and praying that everything will be ok!

Florie. I cant get into my email so im posting here, hope you dont mind. Arianna is here in Hershey right now, they have decided not to transfer her to Dupont. I almost wish they would. I HATE this hospital. Defently not like our home away from home. She was dehydrated and it caused her to have yet another type of seizure, which they still cant control. They were originally thought she was going into heart failure, but when they hooked her up to the monitors they found it is the AV leaking more. They have been talking alot w/ the cardio team in Dupont THANK GOD and they feel that she is stable now and will probally come home tonight. Cardio wants to see her on Wed in Dupont for double check. I dont know if they are going to do another surgery or not right now. They were planning on doing her bladder surgery in the middle of sept but not really sure her heart will handle the pressure. The doctors here did find that her VSD isnt closed like they thought it was so now w/ that and the anyurism and the AV leakage there is alot of concern as to what to do. I will call you wed when we are in DE. Please tell the other CICU mommies that were in w/ arianna that we think about them often and hope things are going well and to email me if they get time.
Glad to hear Kearstin is doing ok. Please let me know what they are doing w/ her seizures. It seems like if it isnt one thing it is another, but our babies are strong and will continue to fight. Give her a big hug for me and tell Ron I said hi. Hang in there ok.

Mykenzie is still the same not much has changed. Her O2 level is very low and they still have the pacemaker set at a rate of 140. Mykenzie is getting very puffy in her upper body also, but she continues to fight. They haven't had to put her on the heart and lung machine but will if her O2 continues to stay low. I hope Kearstin continues to do well

I am sorry I havent gotten to email you lately. We have had some set backs w/ Arianna. Her heart is getting better like we told you when we seen you at the Ronald McDonald House but now she is having really bad seizures again and has started to have problems w/ her kidneys. I always think of you two and baby kearstin as our CICU family and I pray that things get better. I have faith that our little miricle babies will not let these heart problems and other health problems continue to slow them down. Also I wanted to thank Ron for something that he said that night. He was watching Arianna play w/ her toys and hold her head up and he said "One day Kearstin will do that" that broke my heart to hear , but it made me realize that I take for granted sometimes the little things that Arianna does do. I pray every day that Arianna will have a life that is like so many others like walking, running etc, because of her disease, but he made me realize that she is doing more then they ever thought she would, and more then some of our other CICU family memembers have done. I cried all night thinking about Kearstin and all that she has been thru both from the time we saw her in CICU up to now and I pray everyday that there will be a releif for her. Remember also that you are doing a great job even when things are hardest and you cant take it anymore, (isnt that what they taught us in Cardio 101 :) Give her a big hug from Matt me and Arianna and yourself as well.

I am a little nervous since it has been a while since you updated your site. I hope that all is going okay with Kearstin. At the very least improving a little or not doing worse. You are in our prayers several times a day and in our thoughts even more frequently. I didn't know if you knew or not but the hospital as well as the Ronald McDonald house has laptop computers you can borrow and take to your room. They don't work as fast as the ones at the house or the family room downstairs but it is something to do in the room. Just a thought. I can't believe all the strength that all of you have. Hello Miss Kearstin sorry it took me so long to write but my computer at home still isn't working. I'm glad to hear that your become such a big girl and not scaring your mom so much. I hope everything continues on this path. Miss Mykenzie is back in the hospital. They aren't sure whats going on with her. Her heart is fine she has redness on her stomache and they can't figure out what it is caused by. So far all her labs and urine is testing negaitve. At first they thought it was cellulightess but it would have to track from an open area and the only open area is her g-tube and thats fine except for this morning she caught and it fell out the nurse said so surgery came over and put the tube in that has the connection against the skin. She was do back at G.I. on the 24th for the button so I hope she still will get it. There ismore about whats going on and what brought us her on her web page. I'm still trying to set up a benefit for Mykenzie.

Hi Florie, I pray that the doctors resolve this situation and you and Kearstin come home this week as hoped. I would just like to ask all those that have remained faithful to this wonderful update page to join with us on Friday the 23rd for a special evening of prayer. Please set aside some time that evening to join with others in spirit for a spcial time of prayer for a complete healing for this special child. I have asked a large prayer group to pray for her that evening during a time of fasting and prayer that God will heal this child. and as His word tells us when two or more join together on earth in prayer and petition, Jesus is there also and will take that prayer and petition to the Father the great physician and He shall hear our pleading. Folks I know that if loving people all over this world join together in prayer for this beautiful little girl God will hear our prayer. Please folks if it is only a few minutes somewhere between 6 - 9 that evening go before the Lord in prayer for Kearstin and her entire family that God will bring healing to this family.I plan on spending most of that time in prayer for them and I know that with so many praying for one purpose and giving praise to him for this beautiful little life God will hear us. We do not know the reasons why we must go through things here on earth but we can rest assured that God is with us through them all. You are truly blessed by God. In all my years I have never seen such an outpouring of love! It did my heart good to see so many people come together for one purpose. There was so much love, faith and compassion visible at Kearstin's benefit that you could only look on in amazement.To all of those that did so much and to all of those who came just as a show of love and support I say" Thank you and God's blessings be forever with you",. Ron & Florie,
I've always had Faith, but, after seeing all the Love, Support, Prayers and volunteers at her dinner; I have even more Faith. I never expected all that happened when I started this several weeks ago. Pastor Alan calmed everyone down when we ran out of chicken, prayed in the kitchen and it was'nt long before more chicken showed up. We fed over 650 people and raised a good amount for Kearstin. We will never be able to thank them all but they all know who they are. We were all honored to chip in. God Bless all of you.

Kearstin and her whole family are in my prayers.

I have a niece, Faith Victoria, who was born at 25 weeks gestation with downs syndrome. She was in the NICU for about the first 2 months of her life with all kinds of machines like your Kearstin. Faith was even on machines and monitors at home in the begining.

Finally, at 7 months she had open heart surgery and began to finally gain weight and breath better.

A few months after that, she had surgery to correct a hernia.

She is now 6 years old and wonderfully sweet. She is truly a blessing.

Thought it might help to hear of a sick baby with a good outcome.
