Hi Margi and family!

I had been searching for Lyrissa's site now since meeting you all at Beaches in Turks & Caicos this past June. (I finally hooked up with Jean Brady who gave me the actual link as I could not remember the correct spelling of Lyrissa's name.) Margi, it was such a pleasure to meet you and get a chance to talk with you in the lobby of the hotel. My family had a wonderful time at Beaches, and we are hoping to return again this June (as we got hooked into the re-booking before we left). I took the time to visit Lyrissa's beautiful website here at Caring Bridge. You have done a remarkable job with it! It's just beautiful and the photo gallery is wonderful. I also took the time to scroll through the entries, which date back to 2005 I believe. My, what an incredible journey you have all taken. Truly, God has blessed your family with many miracles along the way. I know His crosses are not always easy to bear; however, I hope you find comfort in knowing that all of you are always in His constant care.

I continue to keep Lyrissa and all of you in my prayers. And, I hope you always find the joy in each moment of every day!

I've included my e-mail to stay in touch.

Fondly,
Liz Phillips (the one from Delaware!)

It's amazing the difference a venue makes. When you were showing me and my son (J.R.) this video after Greg had cut our hair, and all the kids were running around happy and funnin'......the video, albeit a very nice showing, took on a kinda festive celabratory mode. When you sent me the link and I viewed it alone, I was reminded of all the pain and suffering that little girl and both of you went through and I started crying like a big baby. I'll never forget the first time driving up to A.I. Hospital and having to pull the car over several times along route one to try and prepare myself for what I would see that first time. Nothing can really prepare anyone for seeing a little 2 year old baby on a hospital bed with tubes running through her and being poked and prodded by doctors and nurses, and you guys endured all that pain. You guys should be proud of the great job you guys have done and continue to do. I am so happy to see her looking better each time I see her and I am extremely proud of the fact that you guys made me Nick's Godfather.

Now let's just keep this between us!!

I was forwarded your page by Sue Basalla (May), whom I've recently regained contact with after a 25+ year hiatus. The subject of my son's Neuroblastoma came up and she mentioned your journey. It is 2:30am and I've just spend a couple of hours reading each and every entry in your journal - what an incredible story of faith, fear, darkness, and joy! You and Lyrissa are a true inspiration to my family! While we have endured many of the same "roller coaster" diagnoses, prognoses, and emotions that go with them, it is incredible to me just how much more you have gone through. My son Owen, who has just turned 3 years old, was diagnosed with Neuroblastoma while still in the womb and later determined to be stage-4S. While we have endured countless tests (biopsies, marrow extracts, MIBG tests, etc) over the years and more than our fair share of inconclusive and false positive results, we are blessed with thus far not having to undergo invasive treatment techniques. It is stories like yours that help my family cope with the fact that we can get through this no matter how difficult the road may be. Thank you for sharing your story with a fellow Neuroblastoma survivor!

Hi everyone!
Just another wonderful observation today! I went into the classroom where Lyrissa has lunch, to sing Happy Birthday (in Spanish), to Mrs. Kramer, who is with her in the afternoon. The children started singing along and Lyrissa began laughing, singing, and having a grand time! It was PRICELESS...she is truly an ANGEL!!! We are so blessed to have her in our lives.

Thinking of you all and holding you in my prayers. Waiting for the next posting which I know will say "NED". Hope you all are enjoying your summer. I heard a phenomenal speaker the other day that said one of the best things about the trials and tribulations he experienced was he learned to "marvel in the ordinary." I immediately thought of you. I LOVE reading your posts because you do just that.... you marvel in the ordinary... things that I often don't stop to see as a parent. You see them all in Lyrissa and you make me see them in my girls. It is amazing the lives Lyrissa touches, without even knowing it!!! What a special little girl!

We are praying very hard here in Elkton and are so glad to hear about all of Roo and Nicolas' adventures! Just got back from our MAW too and it was really as awesome as you described. We are sure there will be clean scans and we will add Lyrissa to the prayer list at church too (a little extra never hurts, right?) Hope your are enjoying the summer and relaxing a bit despite the impending hospital visit. Remember, God never gives us more than we can handle, although not having anymore issues come our way would be a nice blessing wouldn't it?!! Talk to you soon! Deb, Tim, Camille and Abby

Hello Lyrissa, Nicholas, Margi and Greg - First, a belated HAPPY BIRTHDAY NICHOLAS AND LYRISSA!!!! Next, I am so glad you all had a wonderful time on your beautiful trip; I just knew you would. I thought happily of you so often while you were there. I’m sorry you were all sick before hand, but I’m glad you got that out of the way ahead of time and didn’t have any sickness while you were there. It sounds as though you packed a lot of vacation into your time. Lyrissa, I envy your experience with the dolphins. To interact with dolphins is one of my lifetime dreams. I know Lyrissa and Callie were beautiful princesses - we watched some young women getting their “transformations” when we were at Disney in December. I am very excited about seeing their pictures, as well as the others that Claire will post. Welcome Home; as always, I continue to pray every day without fail for complete healing and NED forever for Lyrissa, and for strength, courage and positive energy for all of you.

Hello Lyrissa, Nicholas, Margi and Greg - I am so glad that Lyrissa is out of the hospital! I will certainly be praying for a healthy, happy trip to Disney World for all of you. I hope your trip is absolutely supercalifragilisticexpialidocious (to quote Mary Poppins)! Nicholas, an early Happy Birthday to You; and Lyrissa, an early Happy Birthday to You, too. A Disney World Birthday Celebration is a Very Special Birthday Celebration, indeed. and I’m so glad you’ll both have them (even if one is a tad late and one is a tad early). It’s the celebration that counts, not when you celebrate. Margi and Greg, I hope you have a joyful time, too. I look forward to the report when you return. Happy, happy Disney Trip, and as always, I continue to pray every day without fail for complete healing and NED forever for Lyrissa, and for strength, courage and positive energy for all of you.

Hi Lyrissa, Nicholas, Margi and Greg - What a wonderful posting (excepting the ear infections)! I am so glad that Lyrissa’s MIBG scan showed no evidence of disease. Lyrissa, congratulations on staying still enough to have your scans done while you were awake. You are such a trooper! Lyrissa and Nicholas, I think it’s time for those ear infections to leave you two alone! I hope you both have the very best time of all at Disney World. I happen to know two other people who are very excited about this trip, too - your Ga and Pop! That will be a joyous group in Florida! Margi and Greg, I hope you two have a wonderful time, too. Certainly the two of you, as well as your family, deserve to have a period of complete joy and wonder (as though every day were not exactly that with your two beautiful children). I will be thinking of all of you during your trip. One more thing - I love the new photographs of Lyrissa and Nicholas, especially the one of them hugging. I don’t have a good color printer for photographs, but I’ve printed a black and white copy of "The Hug" and taped it to my kitchen cabinet door, where it gives me a smile and a warm feeling every time I see it. I wish you all the most amazing trip to Disney World in the history of DW trips, and as always, I continue to pray every day without fail for complete healing and NED forever for Lyrissa, and for strength, courage and positive energy for all of you.

Hello Lyrissa, Nicholas, Margi and Greg - What a wonderful and happy posting on the 6th (excepting the earaches and stomach bugs, the all too common banes of child- and parenthood, of course). Lyrissa, you continue to be the busiest young lady I know - parties, shows, school events and all kinds of lovely activities! Nicholas, you’ll have hard work to keep up with your sister! Margi and Greg, I know you both are delighted with all these opportunities to do “normal” things with the children. And I know, having spent some time at Disney World, that you are in for the time of your lives sharing that exciting place with Lyrissa and Nicholas (and Ga and Pop and Claire and family; that’s a real bonus). It is amazing that you will be going just in time to celebrate both birthdays there. It is a huge place with so much to do; if Make-A-Wish hasn’t planned out your schedule, may I suggest that it would be extremely helpful to purchase a 2007 Birnbaum Guide to Disney World so that you can get the most out of your time there? It has been a huge help to us when we’ve gone. Be assured that I am praying for the best results on Lyrissa’s scans, and as always, I continue to pray every day without fail for complete healing and NED forever for Lyrissa, and for strength, courage and positive energy for all of you.

Hello Lyrissa, Nicholas, Margi and Greg - I’m sorry I’ve been silent for so long. I read your January 5 posting soon after you posted it, but am just now being able to respond. Please remember that you are no farther from my heart and mind and prayers when I am unable to write than you are when I can. I’m so glad you all had a happy Christmas. And I’m so glad that the blood workup results were good. It always amazes me that a single period of time can seem so short and at the same time so long. Reading about your celebrating the passage of this time period with the “angel tree” really brought home to me everything you have all experienced during this very short and very long time (and there has been so much). Lyrissa is truly a miracle child, and so is Nicholas. I still have pictures of them posted on my kitchen cabinets (Lyrissa in her Halloween costume and Nicholas contemplating a “chandelier swing”), where they give me great joy every time I look at them. Happy Valentine’s Day to all of you, and as always, I continue to pray every day without fail for complete healing and NED forever for Lyrissa, and for strength, courage and positive energy for all of you.
