My 3 year old son was diagnosed with stage 3 neuroblastoma on 3/15/07. We live north of Eureka so we are not to far from each other. It was nice to read about your son because it gives parents like us hope that there is light at the end of the chemo tunnel~!

Best of luck with your son and he will be in our thoughts.

There was a segment on the news tonight about caringbridge.org and realized how long it had been since I had checked Thomas' site. I was delighted to read the wonderful update and see the pictures of a very active and happy boy! Six month check ups is a terrific development. I hope to come up your way this summer and get a chance to see you. Happy Easter to all. Lots of love, Dana

Hello-
I'm not sure how I fouond your site, but I am glad I did. My son Jack, age 4, also had stage 3 NB, and so I enjoy reading about other kids with the same diagnosis. What was Thomas? Jack was high risk, unfavorable, non amplified. Glad to read everything is going well and that life is normal for your family!! Take care!

Happy Birthday to Thomas! I'm so happy to hear Thomas is doing well and his scans are clear. I'm glad that the therapy sessions are helping him deal with his experiences while he was in treatment. That's a lot for a little guy. We keep Thomas in our prayers. My mother just was diagnosed with breast cancer and I now understand a little of what your family has gone through. Luckily she is being treated medically and the tumor is shrinking. God's blessings, Ruby Fidler.

I was with Dida and Aunt Barbie over my birthday weekend, and when I returned home was so touched to open your card that you sent. I thought about YOU Theresa on the 6th, but oh well, no excuses.
It was wonderful to get an update right from Dida's mouth and to hear about Aunt Barb's visit with Thomas.
I do need to visit up North soon and see all of these "little people", before they become BIG people.
Lots going on down here, best news is that Bill and I leave Fri June 30th for a 3 week vacation to Ireland, Wales and England. We are going with a wonderful group from our church(St. Matthew) and feel so blessed to have this opportunity.
Have a wonderful July!

Hi, Thomas,
We've been out of touch, so sorry... but boy, you are LOOKING GOOD!
We wanted to tell you to remind your mom about Beethoven, but someone else beat us to it. And you will be way cool with your snazzy ear accessories (AKA known as Borg Stuff at our house!).

Unfortunately we are back in hospital with a line infection, but they are going to let us go home on IV antibiotics in a few days so we can have our scans on time, so Yeah for that.
Thank you for the pictures of your hair growing back! Tilly now has some peach fuzz, and EYEBROWS!

Wanted to stop by and meet you all and say hello. You are awesome. I am sorry to hear about the hearing loss but glad that you were able to pick cool colors for his hearing aids. How neat. Did Thomas help pick them out? I hope they get fitted and he loves them. Great idea with the book. How neat of an idea.
Thank you so much for the words of encouragement with dealing with kids and behavior issues. I have been at the end of my rope lately and now may not win the mother of the year award I was shooting for from the news station:- I am just kidding about that because I like you, feel guilty and hate punishments and fighting. Well i wish you luck and myself luck to in getting our kiddos to be well behaved respectable adults. Here's to our kids listening to the first time we ask, may be both make tremendous progress and be successful. Thank you again.

Praise God! Another 3 months of clean and clear!! Thomas was a trooper: cheerful, friendly, cooperative, despite his suggestion that "Claire" could do "the pokes" this time! He is amazingly comfortable in the hospital environment at UCSF, considering all that he has been through on site during the past year. It was a privilege to accompany Theresa, Thomas, and Mary Claire on this last visit and a real comfort to be present to hear the good news. Please join us in continuing to pray for Thomas' full recovery and future good health.

Hello Gasman Family!

It took me a while to get to my girlfriend's house (she has a dvd player) and view the remarkable production you made for me. We are flattered beyond knowing. You have a terrific family! I can't thank you enough for the kind effort you made. Glenda and I were smiling ear to ear.
If you want to go to Kiddytunes.com, you'll hear more of my music. There's a record called Colors for Kidz there, and a cool picture my little sister drew that you can color in and print out. It's fun.
Again, I can't thank you enough for your kindness. Good luck with Thomas.

God is gracious!! We are sooooo grateful for the clear and clean report of the last week. Nothing short of total healing and recovery is acceptable!! If the demonstrated energy level and apparent vitality of this little boy at this time is any indicator of what's to come, the Gas-family has their work cut out for them!! Thomas is wonderfully curious and creative, amazingly active, and truly a sort-of-wind-tunnel-type-toddler at this stage. He and his sister, Mary Claire, are a real pair to draw to! A real joy for any Dida to watch. Notice I said watch! Good thing the big sisters have big horses to retreat to when the going gets rough...
Love to all.....Dida

Congratulations to St. Joseph Vacation Bible School for their service project, Alex's Lemonade Stand. The last I heard they surpassed their goal of $1000 to help find a cure for childhood cancer. I hope you post the final amount you send to the foundation. Thomas was sort of a Redding poster child and inspiration for this project and he worked hard giving out lemonade, along with his sisters. Sarah had a very nice quote in the newspaper. Local TV and newspaper did a great job of covering, which brought many more doners to a great cause.
Thank you Gasman kids and mom for all you did.

Thomas loves to swim and jump into the pool. He is busy keeping up with Mary Claire, so she has to do greater things - board jumping and diving from the side. We will miss them while we cruise around the Baltic sea, visiting northern Europe capitals. But we will get over it!
Love you guys, enjoy our pool and see you near the end of the month.

Kristine (Jensen, now Cornell) and Peters son Asher Michael was Christened on the beach Tuesday evening in Santa Monica. We remembered Thomas in our prayers of thanksgiving. After the service Axel Tim(Jensen) an Lee's almost 5 year old son asked Pamela, the minister, if God was really alive. She gave him such a positive and beautiful answer and I think we are all so blessed to know that he is alive in our hearts, minds and souls and that he is taking such good care of us.

Welcome home, Mr. Thomas! Your daddy loaded the video of you having radiation (and checking in to the hospital, etc.) onto my new TiVo type hard drive that all my big kids gave me for the Big 70 birthday! Hey Mister Thomas! I've been thinking of you night and day up here in Alaska. I saw the Northern Lights last night for the first time since I got up here and I made a wish for you. I wished that you would get through this disheartening time and come out in the end with the big goofy grin I will always remember you with. I wish I could be there with you and your family. Theresa and Mike, you are both so incredibly inspiring. I can only hope that when I deploy I have half the courage and faith that you two hold on to day after day. Sarah, Rebecca, and Mary Claire, you three are some of the luckiest and bravest girls I have had the pleasure of meeting. Just remember how much everyone out here admires and loves you for how well you guys are taking this twist. I sent a request to all my military "family" all over the world and my family back at home to pray for the quick and safe recovery of Thomas. I miss you guys tons and I promise to come see you when I finally get to come home. All my love!

We have told them about Thomas, and he is in their daily prayers. Thomas is blessed to have such an incredible family who give him so much love and support

Theresa and Mike -- You and your little guy are continually in my thoughts. I am praying that the bronchoscopy was uneventful and Thomas is recovering comfortably as his white cells start to multiply and join the medication in getting rid of the infection. I am so grateful that you have the support of your deep faith and such a wide circle of family and friends as you endure this unbelievably stressful time. My family joins me in sending prayers and love for a rapid turnaround. --Dana

Mike, Theresa and Thomas,
We are thinking of you everyday and say a special prayer for Mr. Thomas every night. We are all glad your family has been able to come and provide additional support and comfort during these long days of waiting for those white cells to reappear. News of the "digger delight" was heartening. We have a brick of Colby cheese on hand just waiting for Thomas, the ingredients for a dinner anytime, and are nearby to do anything else. We send our love...and a special e-kiss for Thomas. An extra prayer tonight for the procedure tomorrow and for a rapid return of clear lungs.

Theresa and Family,
Laura sent me an update on Thomas' illness (initiated by Joanne). I've just finished reading all the heart-wrenching emails and viewing all the beautiful pictures of Thomas and the rest of you. I heard about the birth of your second through Dana nearly two years ago. So sad that this is the next news I learn! First, belated congrats on your beautiful family. Parenting is such an amazing mix of sheer joy and, at times, terror, isn't it? It's hard to imagine what you've been going through--it sure puts my worries about my 15 month old not walking into perspective! I suppose the silver lining in all this is that Thomas has you. It must be unbelievably hard to handle everything that comes with his cancer, but I have no trouble imagining you being a fantasic Mom to a frightened little guy. I'll be hoping for great news on the website after Thomas' radiation therapy. Big, positive thoughts to you and your family!

Thomas, Papa Dave and Mimi are already missing you and hope your naps are getting longer and more peaceful. You are a very strong, brave boy. You have endured more in the last 8 months that we have in our accumulated 141 years! Pretty soon we can play ball again. You were throwing your wash cloth today, keeping your arm in shape for an outdoor game. Won't that be grand. Maybe Easter??
Don't worry too much about Mommie and Daddy, they are doing great. They can catch up on their sleep when you go to Pre-school!
Love you.

Hey Thomas, I bet you really miss me. It was pretty weird for Uncle John and I to wake up today and not head to our resident shower then off to UCSF to be with you. It was not easy for us to drive away yesterday. I have thought about you all day. I just read your Dad's latest update. Taylor, Emma, Bear and even Patrick hope this misserable time ends for you as soon as possible. I am ready to play truck and bolders with you. Tell your mommy that I thought of calling several times today but was afraid of waking her or anyone sleeping in the room.

Taylor ran for VP at his school today but lost. Emma's sprained arm seems to be much better. Patrick spent his day eating Valentines candy. Please ask your Mommy to call me in the next day or two. LOVE Aunt Jean

Hey guys,
HAPPY BIRTHDAY THOMAS! (tomorrow!) I've been thinking of you guys a lot this week as I'm starting to figure out Josie's second birthday. Also, Josie has recently re-discovered the fireman hat you gave us at Thomas' first birthday and she is absolutely loving it. I'm going to be in the Bay Area next weekend, just me and the "babies" with a niece as a travel companion. I'm visiting some college friends. I'm not sure what I can do to help, but maybe I could drop off dinner at the least. Sal's in the background practicing his trumpet on his "silent brass"...and he told me to remind you of the oysters at the bachelor party...he says "hi." Take care, we're constantly praying for all of you, Love, Mary, Sal, Domenic, Josie & Danny D'Acquisto

I saw your Grandma and Grandpa at church today. Your Grandpa told me how you are doing, and I told him I will continue to pray for you. You know, Thomas, I had a yellow Lance Armstrong bracelet last summer, but it broke. Hi Thomas, Mike and Theresa,
I couldn't sleep tonight, but thanks to you techies, I have a very informative, interesting web site complete with pictures of an extremely cute bald boy named Thomas to visit at this late hour. I love the web site and reading all the messages from all over the country. Thomas is quite the popular little man! Well I hope his mouth doesn't get too intolerable this week. The nurses up here in rain city said club soda is a good alternative for oral care. For some reason the kids like it--even the little ones. At least I think it's club soda. I'll look into that at work tomorrow and let you know. Glad to hear you got out for a community run Theresa. You deserve the fresh air!! Kiss Thomas for me and as always he is in our prayers. Theresa, Mike and Thomas- We have been checking the caringbridge site daily so that we can feel more in touch with ongoing events (given that we live so far away)and really appreciate the updates! This is our first entry in the guestbook, though! I have shown the kids all of the pictures of Thomas. Now they ask me daily to see more pictures, so keep posting them! You are never far from our thoughts. We send LOTS of love from the east coast!

Hi Mr. Thomas,
I see your daddy has something to do while you nap. He has posted a great web page with lots of neat pictures of you. Now everyone can keep up with your progress and see your smiling face!

Sarah and Rebecca are keeping busy with homework and a little HGTV (Divine Design, their favorite - what good taste!) I visited Mary Claire and Dida today. Dolly is trying to fill in for you, but scratching the window isn't nearly as fun as throwing balls and painting pictures.

We are coming to see you next weekend and to celebrate your big 02 birthday! I pray you have a good week. God bless you now and forever.
Love,
Mimi
