i'm another member of the family you have yet to meet ... my connection is through tussy, ben's sister ... she is indeed my better half ... anyway, being a cancer surivor myself think i have a pretty good idea of what you're going through ... best advice i have to offer is to keep in mind that you're not alone ... millions of us have walked through the same valley ... you may be sick and tired of being sick, but know that someday you'll be better and back with chris and the kids ... also, stay positive if for no other reason than it will make these times more bearable ... we're praying for you back here and look forward to the day we get to meet you.

Dawn,
We are very happy to hear that all went well with your surgery. Things sound positive and the worst is behind you. We wish you well in your recovery and we're pulling for you for a smooth recovery. Your homeocoming to Chris and the kids will be bittersweet and not soon enough. Hang in there! Know that our thoughts are with you at all times.

Hello Dawn-Monique,
I am so glad you've made it through surgery just fine.
Everyone reacts differently to having ovaries removed - if you do go off the estrogen replacement, you will likely have hot flashes for a while (not a big deal) , and you should definitely make sure you take a calcium supplement.
The omentum pads the intestines (possibly prevents diverticulitis) - I wondered about this as well, but really have not noticed any side effects from its removal.
I was also anaemic and was on iron supplements for a while after surgery
Ummmm ... about the pain and nausea ... give it some more time .... it will subside slowly.
Eat several small meals a day of fairly bland food. Be patient - be glad it is over with -
know you are in my thoughts and prayers for healing and good spirits. You are doing great!

Hi DM, We've not met before. I'm Terry Ann from the PMP group. I've been reading your progress through this site and am so happy for you that you are now out of the hospital and recovering at your Moms. I had PMP surgery 3 years ago, I was 46 at the time and my husband and Mother took off work to help me through a difficult recovery. I know how much it means to have loving family there beside you.

I also had to learn about and use hormone replacement therapy as a result of the surgery and the radical hysterectomy. If you would like to email me and get any advice or just talk about any "surgical menopause" problems at any time, please do.

I wish you a speedy recovery to be back with your beautiful children and husband ASAP. Take care, and God Bless.

From all accounts, it sounds as though you are in very good hands and well taken care of. We're looking forward to having Dakota and Shelly arrive on Tuesday night and having a great visit with them. Okay, DM...I've told everyone that you have a positive attitude, so they should, too! As Dakota finishes 3rd grade this week, just know that he'll be having fun and will have a good vacation in St. Louis, too. And if anything hurts, just remember to do math problems. :O You have lots of love and support from all of your family and friends, near and far, and I know you'll get through this and see Dakota and your other two kiddos graduate from high school and go to college. We'll be talking to you next week.

Hello Dawn,
I wanted to wish you best of luck on the day of your surgery and a very speedy recovery. Hey, if all goes well you can come to Aruba with Chris! =O) So we will have two wonderful things to celebrate. My mom is really hoping everything will be okay so come November (Aruba time) we could all be together looking back at this whole thing as the past and nothing more. Enjoying the present and the good things to come in the future. Either way as long as you get better and healthy again that is all that really matters. I know in my heart you will be okay, you are a very strong person. And you are too wonderful a person for you not to end up okay. =O) And besides you have Grandma looking over you, and I know there is no better person I would want looking over me from up above than her. =O) Good luck to you! You are in my thoughts and my prayers. Love, Clarisse xoxo

THIS IS ROBERT BOWDEN AGAIN. I WAS THE FIRST TO POST HERE. IF YOU GO BACK, IT WAS A GOOD MESSAGE. PROBLEM IS, I DO KNOW HOW TO SPELL HEAR. HERE IS THE SAME WORD. SORRY, I HAVE NO CHILDREN CRAWLING ON ME FOR AN EXCUSE. JUST USUALLY IN A HURRY.

YOUR SURGERY IS COMING UP SOON AND I SUPPOSE THE "COLD FEET" HAVE ALREADY SET IN. BE BRAVE, YOU ARE DOING THE RIGHT THING. THIS IS JUST ONE OF THOSE THINGS YOU HAVE TO GO FOR AND GET IT BEHIND YOU.

PLEASE MAKE SURE THAT NANCY OR WHOEVER IS AVAILABLE KEEPS YOUR POST UP DAILY OR MORE OFTEN AS SITUATIONS ARISE. AS I SAID BEFORE, WE ARE HERE(CORRECT SPELLING) TO HELP AND I KNOW THERE WILL BE QUESTIONS. TELL THEM NOT TO BE AFRAID TO LET US KNOW WHAT IS GOING ON, AS WE CAN HELP THEM KNOW WHAT TO EXPECT OR HOW LONG A SYMPTOM MAY LAST.

STILL IN OUR PRAYERS AND THOUGHTS.

Hello Dawn-Monique,
My name is Kim and I'm one of the PMPBellyButton members. Reading this journal entry is like reading about myself! My first surgery and dx was Feb. 01 and then I had the second surgery in DC with Dr Sugarbaker Sept 01. I was in DC during 9-11 which made an already difficult time that much worse. It's hard to believe that I'm just over a year shy of being five years cancer-free!! Before you know it you'll be saying the same thing--I'm praying for that and sending you all my warmest thoughts. If you have questions, need advice or just someone to listen, please email.

Hey Dawn-Monique: I don't want to say I know what you are going through, bc I don't! I just want you to know how I sincerely admire your strength and high spirits! You are truly an amazing woman. It's great that you are keeping your hope up and that you are reaching out for your friends support; not everybody does that when they need it. Anyway, I wish you the very best of luck and want, once again, to tell you that whatever you, Chris, or the rest of your family needs I am here to help; so, keep me on your list, please. HI, THIS IS ROBERT BOWDEN FROM PMP BELLYBUTTONS. IT IS A PLEASURE TO BE THE FIRST TO POST. I POSTED FIRST ON BOB PETERSONS SITE. YOU WILL PROBABLY REMEMBER ME BY RESPONDING TO YOUR CONCERN ABOUT SPELLING. I CAN SPELL IT BY LOOKING UP THE WORD. I HAVE A PROBLEM SAYING IT. I AND MANY OTHER PEOPLE YOU DO NOT KNOW WILL BE FOLLOWING YOUR JOURNEY. WE ARE HERE TO HELP AND GIVE ENCOURAGEMENT, SYMPATHY, JOY, AND CELEBRATION FOR THE APPROPRIATE TIME. MOSTLY, WE ARE HERE TO HELP WHEN ISSUES COME UP THAT YOU NEED ADDITIONAL INFO. OR ADVISE. REMEMBER, SOMEONE IN THE PMP GROUP HAS PROBABLY ALREADY "BEEN THERE, DONE THAT" AND IS WILLING TO SHARE WITH YOU.

BEST OF LUCK AND SPEEDY RECOVERY. MID JUNE WILL BE COMING UP SOON. THE FIRST SYMTOM WILL BE "COLD FEET". AS I SAID, "BEEN THERE, DONE THAT"

YOU MAY EVEN HERE SOMEONE MENTION THE ROLLER COASTER RIDE. GET READY.

WE WILL KEEP YOU IN OUR THOUGHTS AND PRAYERS,

ROB AND BECKY BOWDEN
