As Christian Barker's grandparents we met you and the lovely Bailey in Seattle Childrens Hospital. She always had that big, beautiful smile and a little gift to give. She had made it her mission to cheer up the other kids/families there however she could. What a heart-warmer. She, like Christian, fought to live here on earth; but now is forever in our hearts, safe where no disease can ever touch her.
Just want you to know we love you and pray God's comfort for you.

I just wanted to let you know that Bailey and your family touched my heart so profoundly that more than a year later I still feel 'connected.' I was in Seattle to help with my niece Amber, and often at the Ronald McDonald House with my youngest niece Patience. I met your children and was struck by their kindness and gentleness. I think it was the youngest who wanted to play with Patience too. In any case, I'm not sure if it was Sandy who connected me with y'all, or if it was Robyn (Amber's mom), or if it was just running into your kids at the RM House, but all I know is that you guys carry the life of Jesus in you. His spirit that lives in you was palatable, and even now, I am moved just thinking about that. I cried buckets when I heard Bailey died, and was kind of angry at God for letting her leave us so early. I work with orphans and streetkids and people living in dumps in impoverished nations, so I am not unaware of suffering and the pain on this side of heaven, but I knew we had lost a precious precious gift of God when Bailey left us. Of course I knew and know she is having a blast, but I felt robbed, and could only try to imagine how y'all felt. Know that my prayers remain with you, and I thank God for you for sharing your journey...and inspiring me and so many others.

Dear Rocha Family,
I have been thinking of all the wonderful new friends we have met during Christian's difficult journey. Your family will always hold a very special place in all of our hearts. We seem to understand each other's feelings, faith, and heart-aches. We both miss our sweet angels, but know they are in heaven waiting for us. You will remain in our prayers and hearts. We look forward to when we can all get together again (Disneyland??)
Tight hugs to you all,

Hey Kathy, I am Mason's mom (little boy with leukemia in Seattle). I truly feel that your visit to seattle with Bailey was a blessing to more people than you could probably have imagined. Seeing a girl fighting so hard and loving so much really helped me have strength for my own child. And although Mason was very young and didn't actually eat any of the candy that Bailey shared with everyone, I know that he enjoyed getting little "presents" from her and I love that she even wanted to save him the ones she knew he would like (the bottle of candy). She was always giving to others and so loving. I just thought I would share with you how we remember her and that we miss her too. Bailey was an angel long before she left to be with God. Thank you for sharing her with us up in Seattle. Keep smiling and know many people (including us) are still thinking and praying for your family.

Dear Rocha Family,
It was great reading your update. I know there are so many people who are wondering how you are doing.
We will forever remember Bailey for her infectious smile. She had the sweetest smile and face on the 3rd oncology floor. As she went room to room passing out candy to the many cancer kids, she would leave them with a treat and a smile. It made her so happy giving Christian a sour candy because she knew it made him happy. What an amazing heart she has at such a young age!
I can't tell you how thankful to God I am for the extra time and wonderful memories He allowed your family to share with Bailey. Since I didn't get those, I can tell you they are absolutely PRICELESS!! You are so blessed to have them. I am glad you shared some of them with your caringbridge family, because they make us smile as we visuale Bailey smiling.
You are an absolutely amazing family. Your faith is a testimony to so many others. We both know God is and will continue to use our families in many ways. That doesn't make our pain any less, but it brings comfort knowing others are being touched by what Bailey and your family have endured.
You will forever be in our thoughts and prayers. We are thankful for Seattle because we met you guys. The bond we have is a difficult one, but a very strong and life long one. I really hope we can get our families together this summer. We would love to see you guys!
We miss you lots and will keep thinking and praying for you all daily.
Love and tight hugs,

Hard to say much. We met you just a little under a year ago in Seattle. In patient on the 3rd floor, dealing with an allergic reaction. Your faith and encouragement along with some bits of candy from Bailey brightened our days. Watching our son and your sons ride loops on the 3rd floor was at least a distraction to everything going on. Stay strong and God Bless.

I often check to see if you've updated your journal because I enjoy reading your inspirational thoughts on life. I've heard it said, "God only gives you what you can handle", and I keep going to church to remind Him of what I can't handle. Perhaps one day, I'll mature enough to possess a fraction of your strength. Thanks for sharing.

We love and miss you Rocha family!
We hope your Mother's Day is blessed with lots of great 'Bailey' memories.
This poem touched me and I wanted to share it with you. I could see our kids writing it to us from Heaven.

DEAR MR. HALLMARK
--Author Unknown

I am writing to you from Heaven,
And though it must appear
A rather strange idea,
I see everything from here.

I just popped in to visit
Your stores to find a card--
A card of love for my mother
As this day for her is hard.

There must be some mistake, I thought,
Every card you could imagine,
Except I could not find a card
From a child who lives in Heaven.

She is still a mother too,
No matter where I do reside.
I had to leave, she understands,
But, oh, the tears she's cried.

I thought that as I wrote you,
You would come to know
That though I live in Heaven now,
I still love my mother so.

She talks with me, and dreams with me,
We still share our laughter, too.
Memories are our way of speaking now--
Would you see wyat you could do?

My mother carries me in her heart,
Her tears they cloud her sight.
She writes poems to honor me,
Sometimes far into the night.

She plants flowers in my garden,
There my living memory dwells.
She writes to other greiving parents,
Trying to ease their pain as well.

So you see Mr. Hallmark,
Though I no longer live on earth,
I must find a way to remind her
Of her loving, wondrous worth.

She needs to be honored
And lovingly remembered too,
Just as all the mothers' children
Still living on earth will do.

Thank you, Mr. Hallmard,
I know you'll do your best.
I have done all I can do now,
So to you I'll leave the rest.

Please find a way to tell her
How much she means to me,
Until I can do it for myself
When she joins me in eternity.

May you have peace of heart on Mother's Day!
God Bless!

Love you,
Sandy, Gary, ^Christian^, Garrett, and Kendall Barker

Hi Kathy,
I know exactly how you feel with the "why" questions and the blessings & thanks we do have. I think even with our faith in the Lord we still have the "why" ?'s, I have had so many since July 4th, 2007. I know that Bailey & Ashley are with our Lord, dancing around with Him. They are just waiting for the second when we will be reunited with them.
I am sorry to hear about your friend. We have lost way too many kids this year to this disease. If I can help in any way, even just to talk to another parent that has lost their child to this disease I am here!

HI KATHY
IT HAS BEEN A WHILE SINCE I POSTED BUT I ALWAYS CHECK IN FROM TIME TO TIME. I HAVE REALLY BEEN THINIKING LATELY ABOUT SOME OF THE FRIENDS THAT WE HAVE LOST. OF COURSE LITTLE FRIEND BAILEY CAME TO MIND. I WISH WE COULD HAVE GOT TO KNOW YOU AND YOUR FAMILY BETTER BEFORE YOU HEADED TO SEATTLE.
I JUST WANT TO SAY AGAIN HOW SORRY I AM ABOUT LOSING BAILEY AND I HOPE YOUR LIFE IS STARTING TO SETTLE DOWN. I WISH YOUR FAMILY PEACE AS YOU LEARN TO MOVE FORWARD.
I KNOW WE DONT TALK BUT I DO THINK OF YOU GUYS OFTEN. DURING THE HOLIDAYS AT OUR CHURCH WE HAD A GRIEVING TREE TO REMEMBER THOSE LOST LOVE ONES. KRISTEN PUT A PICTURE OF BAILEY AND ASHLEY ON THE TREE. IT WAS VERY SWEET.
ANYWAY, I JUST WANTED YOU TO KNOW.....
