I am a transplant nurse at University of Chicago. I see many little guys go through what Aiden has and often wonder how they are and the progress they have made. This story has really touched me. Aiden looks wonderful and God bless you, his parents who have gone through so much. Just wanted to say best of luck and will be adding a prayer to mine for Aiden. God Bless.

I must say that I have had the pleasure of meeting James due to my field. I never knew the severity of his condition until reading his web page. I am shocked! Why? Seeing a young child that has suffered through so much but still have the will power and courage to keep going is truly amazing to me. The smile, the excitement, the laughter all warms my heart. I applaude this family for their dedication and determination. You all are truly blessings to one another. I pray that God holds you close EVERYDAY!!!!!!!!!

Here it is March 2007 already, and Aidan is doing great. If you didn't notice his limp, you would never know he had ever had all of the medical problems he has had for such a young boy. We are all so proud of him and all of the challenges he has overcome. His Grandma and Grandpa think he is one cute, smart little guy. We love you Aidan, and hope you have a wonderful future ahead of you. Love, Grandma

Reading about the struggles this beautiful young man and your family has experienced gives me even more reason to believe that if God brings us to it, he will bring us through it. I received my liver June 2005, my sister being my living donor. The gift of life is so precious and beautiful. I pray that life holds happy, loving memories for all of us...hope is always, always alive. Live strong!!

What a perfect day yesterday turned out to be. Aidan had his surgery and everything went smoothly, and he didn't have to stay in the hospital overnight afterward. Home is so much better, and you heal faster too. Our prayers have been answered and he can now become a regular little boy, with some handicaps for sure, but happy and busy learning about this big world we all live in. Love you Aidan, and so proud to be your Grandma.

I am the mom of a 4-year old boy who has survived brain surgery. I know how difficult and stressful having a sick child can be. I am glad to hear Aidan is doing so well. I wanted to mention to you that my son had a seizure not long ago also. To make a very long story short, we found out it was caused by the ramen noodle soup he had eaten for lunch. It has a high concentration of MSG in it which can bring on seizures. We had to take our son off of all packaged, canned, prepared foods because we found out they all contain MSG in various forms. He is now 100% healthy and no more seizures! We learned all about the MSG and what foods have it from a wonderful website www.msgmyth.com
It will tell you everything you should know and believe me, it is all true! God bless all of you.

I am so glad that Willa is sharing Aidan's good health with the readers of this guest book. For so long his Grandma and Grandpa were afraid to hope for a happy future for our little fighter. When he was transfered to UCSF at a month or two old, I will never forget the nurse that told his to give him a kiss, thinking he was not going to make it. He surprised all of the Doctors and nurses with his will to live. He is a lively 6 year old, never stopping, and a joy to be around. I hope that all who read this and have children or grandchildren with health problems see that miracles do happen. Always keep that hope alive. He does have trouble walking, with a limp, because of the stroke he had around the transplant time. But he does a good job of running and keeping up with his brother Paddy. Love you Aidan

All of the prayers from family and friends have done there job with Aidan. He is now 5 1/2 years and finally able to be a little boy and have fun and catch up with life. As his Grandmother, it is a true joy to see the change since his last surgery over a year ago. Doctor visits are not as often as they were, and the future looks brighter. Thank you for the prayers. Aidan still loves playing with Grandma's tops with his brother, Paddy. Grandma loves the happy smiles watching them play.

Time to start using that whiteboard in the room for scorekeeping. Poll every person who enters the room "Do you think Aidan should be allowed to go home today?" If the Ayes have it ... well, you still will listen to the doctors, but everyone will get a chuckle. At this rate, you may not need to drive back on Monday! Still praying ...

You don't have to worry about a lack of prayers for your courageous family. Our family hasn't stopped and will pour it on harder. I'm so sorry that you have to make the trek back to UCSF and will pray HARD that it will be a very, very short trip and that the worst of this episode is behind you. yes, thank God. I hope this is permanent. He just needs to be a kid and have time to grow, laugh, play, learn, and everything someone his age does...without any more hospital stays...I really hope this is it. He has fought so hard that it is about time. You are all still in our prayers

You go Aidan!!!! This is your breakout year!!! No more shunt and then g-tube....maybe? Kendra still won't let us take her's out. I think she has grown fond of it. When I told Kendra you were in the hospital, she was very sad. She hopes that you will have a speedy recovery.

A boring update is a good update. It's the boring patients that get sent home. If Aidan is too exciting, the hospital will want to keep him longer. So ... we'll continue praying for lots of boredom, coupled with good ideas to keep Aidan from going stir-crazy.

I do hope the neurosurgeon didn't leave a valve or other hardware in when he stitched Aidan up so blithely! One tube out, one to go? It is good to hear Aidan is acting like himself. So much easier to enjoy life's interruptions when your child is his usual self.

If you want to see the resident speechless, tell him a friend of yours had a daughter whose shunt malfunctioned and the semi-healed incision split. The doctor said to cover the site with saran wrap and bring her in the following afternoon.

So does this mean the all the shunts are gone and his cerebral pressure is good? I am hoping for the best. Glad to hear he is "oinking" again.

Dear Kevin & Willa: We continue to pray for Aidan's recovery from his latest round of medical treatments. We pray he is back up in the snow playing with his sister and brothers very, very soon. The Lord gave our family a true fighter and warrior, didn't he. We can all learn from Aidan's strength and courage. We love you. Our prayers will not stop.
