Things have been really crazy lately. Chase is doing great and mother is doing as well as we could possible ask. She is in Houston today to find out the chemo/radiation plan. I am struggling that this is such an important dr appointment and I am not there. I have been back and forth to Houston everyweek since Labor Day and I didn't think it was the smartest idea to drive back down there for an hour appointment. The good part about houston is that I do get to spend time with Matt while I am down there. He is only 1 1/2 hours away. We know deep down that mother's cancer has only kept spreading since we know how horribly aggresive it had become from aug 3-sept 5 when we found out where all it had spread. Now it has been another month gone by and it is just devastating to spend time thinking about. She remains with complete pain control FINALLY. She doesn't appear to have many other symptoms other than maybe tiring easily and small amounts of weakness. I am just appreciating every day that she is not hurting and want them get the chemo in so it can do its best to kill it all.

Friday, June 5, 2009 11:30 AM CDT

This week has been a pretty rough one on everyone. We should find out shortly when her surgery will be scheduled when she passes her cardiac clearance. We have set her up with her own caringbridge page. I will post a link on Chase's friends, or you can just type it in. http://www.caringbridge.org/visit/mimiof3. It is still a work in progress. She is trying to update as if she started from day one, so she still has a couple days to go, but will be caught up soon. I appreciate you all for all of your prayers and wonderful messages. They mean so very much. She has a hard battle before her, but we are all behind her and will help her fight like hell.

Sunday, May 31, 2009 10:58 AM CDT

I don't know how many people still visit this site. Thank you if you do, and I apologize for the lack of updates. With work and the kids, I find it almost impossible to find the time to update. Chase has been doing pretty good. Just normal wear down from being a cancer survivor that missed so much of his active childhood. I unfortunately come hear today with more bad news....

My mother was diagnosed with kidney cancer on Friday afternoon. This came as a great shock, just as all diagnosis of this kind does, but she went in for cat scan for kidney stones, so this just came out of nowhere. We don't know much yet. She will begin all her testing and planning this week and I am going to try and set her up with her own caringbridge as soon as possible. So I now ask for prayers for our family again as we begin another journey with cancer.

Thursday, December 18, 2008 4:51 PM CST

Sorry for the delay of updates, but I felt led to update today.

Our dear friend Travis passed earlier this afternoon. He fought a very hard fight. Please pray for the Robinson family for peace and strength that only HE can provide.

Friday, November 14, 2008 4:20 PM CST

I am so sorry to all that still visit for not updating any sooner. All has been going pretty well lately. Chase is feeling better each and every day. The new seizure medicine the neurologist put him on has had nothing but good effects. We were very nervous to put him on a med that he didn't absolutely have to have. We have not had that much luck with medicines helping symptoms. His medicines usually create NEW symptoms, but not this time. His neurologist stated that a popular side effect from this medicine was Turret's like symptoms. He has had nothing even close. The medicine has stopped the seizures and has helped tremendously with the pain. We are so happy.

He continues to struggle through school. He tries so hard, but some things just are not gettting through. Catie is doing wonderfully. She loves school. This afternoon, her great grandparents picked them up from school and she called this morning to make sure they understood to pick her up AT THE END of the day and not ANY sooner. She is so funny. Last week she had to pull her pocket and had a note home. She and her "grown" up self thought she would be clever and forge my signature and send the note back. I guess she thought she at 5, had my signature down. I tried to be mad, but it was just too cute.

I guess that is about it for now. We continue to ask for your prayers for good health and for our friends still in the thick of the battle.

Saturday, October 4, 2008 3:45 PM CDT

Chase has improved so much these last couple days. He says he still has pain, but sure doesn't act like it most of the time. Every now and then he will slow down, but for the most part, he is laughing, playing, and enjoying life. He still gets to hurting pretty good and tires easily, but what else do you expect after a week in the hospital. I know I am completely exhausted, and I didn't have anything wrong with me. Thank you for all the prayers. They are sure working and you can see God's work in Chase every single day.

Thank you also for all the kind words about the incident Thursday night. I am still in shock, but it is becoming further from my mind and is not hurting near as bad as the time passes. I still just really can't believe someone would accuse of us of abuse without even verifying their suspicions(that sure doesn't look spelled right) first. All it would have taken was a phone call to the house.

Thursday, October 2, 2008 9:33 PM CDT

I thought I updated yesterday, but realized I had only updated the text list when Chase went home. Chase was discharged aroun 3:30 yesterday afternoon. He was still hurting and had a bit of a sour stomach last night. The pain meds seem to be working pretty good to keep the pain under control. He didn't make it to school today. I sure didn't want to have to return to the hospital because we made him do too much too soon. He stayed at home with Mimi today(my mom in from Texas). I think they both enjoyed their time and even ventured to Walmart for a very short trip of goodies.

I really have contemplated whether to say anything at all about this or not, and have chosen to just as an outlet for me. We were shocked this evening to receive a visit from Child Protective Services with a report of child abuse/abandonment of Chase. Someone called the child abuse hotline this afternoon, anonomously, to say that we had left Chase alone at home very sick. Just to clarify, if the person is reading this, Chase was never alone today or any other day he has been sick. I can't believe someone would actually think that we would leave him alone after a week in the hospital. I mean, I gave up my career and stayed at home, or in the hospital, with him every minute of the last 6 years. I would do anything for him and for Catie and so would Matt. Fortunately for Matt and I, we have two of the best sets of parents anyone could ask for. They will come and take care of whatever we need them for at the drop of a hat. So my mother, this time, changed her plans and drove the 350+ miles to come and stay until Chase can for sure make it through a complete day of school. I think it hurt her just as much as it did Matt and I for someone to accuse us of not taking care of our babies while she was here so that I could return to work after missing an entire week because I wouldn't leave his bedside. I just can't understand why the person would not call and ask me the situation before reporting to authorities. It is just absurd. I am so hurt. We were so thrilled of all the support we received from our community this last week. Chase has never had so many visitors and calls(texts) to the hospital. And now for this one person to possibly sour that. I don't know who it was and I can only pray for God to grant me peace for I know that they were only trying to help Chase and just didn't have the facts straight and forgive. It just is so shocking and so very hurtful.

Tuesday, September 30, 2008 11:47 AM CDT

Well no new news. The bone scan was normal. That is a very good thing in respect to infection, bone cancer, and the other devastating news that it can give, which we knew going in they wouldn't find. But I was sure hoping they would find something, a broken bone bone growth, or SOMETHING that could explain his sudden decline and pain. But it was not found. The plan is now to send him home on oral pain meds if they can control the pain at all and hopefully whatever this was that came on so quick will go away just as quick. That is our prayer. So we will be home either late this afternoon or tomorrow morning unless anything changes.

Monday, September 29, 2008 9:28 AM CDT

Chase had a really awful day yesterday. The worst so far. He was in so much pain for the majority of the day. He did have his EEG yesterday, and it is not official word, but it looked normal again. He is scheduled for a bone scan today. The nuclear med department wanted to postpone to tomorrow, but thankfully our doctors said NO. He was hurting too bad and they needed to start getting some answers. SO it will be later today around 3:30(best guess estimate). That is about it. Thank you so much for your prayers during this crazy time.

Sunday, September 28, 2008 10:16 AM CDT

Ok...so Chase is cancer free, but is still in extreme pain. So what is the next step...That is a question I have been asking since Friday night, and I know have a couple of answers. He will have another EEG tomorrow, it is still being decided if it will be the 24 hour video kind, or another short one with hopes they catch something. I haven't noticed an episode the whole time we have been here. He said he thinks he had one Wednesday morning and that is kinda what sent him over the edge. <-his words. He will also have a bone scan sometime tomorrow to look for causes of the pain. We are ecstatic that our worst fears did not come true but are still asking for many prayers for Chase, our family, and the doctors to find and TREAT what is happening to his body right now. So that is the latest. We continue as always to ask for prayers for all the others fighting in this battle.

Friday, September 26, 2008 5:52 PM CDT

Chase remains CANCER FREE!

We haven't heard the news from the doctor, but the social worker looked up the results and all looks good. Thank you God!!! We don't know what the next step is in the plan, but we will take this news and CELEBRATE and PRAISE GOD with all we have.

Friday, September 26, 2008 7:33 AM CDT

Update:
We just found out the MRI did not show anything. Thank God. So we are now awaiting his bone marrow biopsy and spinal tap to rule out Leukemia. We should find out something around 3 or so.

We just saw the first doctor of I am sure many we will see today. She said that the MRI still had not been read by the attending, which we were told last night it would be at least 8:30 this morning. I know the chart says that he is scheduled at 1:00 for his bone marrow biopsy and spinal tap. He will be sedated by the sedation team as that is safer on him than the normal verset and ketamine. This may be the only time they had available and give time for the doctors to meet and discuss. So hopefully all is read and discussed, and declared safe to proceed before this afternoon. I will do my best to keep the site updated when I have information. I will also be texting info out. If you would like to be on that list, email me your phone number and I will add you to the list. Or text my phone 870-723-3930 and leave your name and I will add you. It will be a pretty generic message, but will be more up to date than the website more than likely as I can carry it in my pocket wherever I go. So I guess that is about it. Thank you for your prayers and support, they are keeping us going.

Thursday, September 25, 2008 9:27 PM CDT

Update:

Sorry for the delay in posting. I have had computer issues all day in between all the calls I have received. Chase was not tested today. He had a lab value, the LDH, that was alarming to the doctors. They decided they needed to have a neurology consult as well as a MRI to MAKE SURE it was safe to perform the spinal tap. So if everything comes back ok and safe to go on, he will be sedated and have both a bone marrow and spinal tap mid morning tomorrow. I am still declaring that this is not a relapse, but I have prepared myself today with the news that it is a possibility. THe LDH can be elevated for quite a few reasons, but is usually elevated as a cancer marker. Chase's level has always been low, so it is defiantely something the doctors are taking seriously. So that is where we are right now. PRAYING HARD and declaring NO RELAPSE! I can not tell you how much it means for all the calls and guestbook messages we received today. And I know behind each one of the messages left behind there are prayers being sent up for us. It means soo much. I will do my best to update tomorrow as soon as I know something, but check in the guestbook for any updates from family or friends who have received word. Again, THANK YOU!!!!

Thursday, September 25, 2008 7:20 AM CDT

URGENT PRAYER REQUEST!!!

Chase was admitted last night for testing of possible relapse. Dr.Saylors wanted not to wait and he will be tested later this morning. I will let you know as soon as I know something.

Wednesday, September 17, 2008 7:04 AM CDT

No news yet on Chase's tests. He seems to be doing a little bit better, so we are going to hold off on seeing Dr.Stine. I don't think he would do anything but look him over and take blood and it would throw Chase off of schedule for school. His blood work was perfect just two weeks ago Friday. Chase is having a pretty hard time in school and it is so important he misses as little as possible. THank you for all the prayers. THey seem to be working as always.

Thursday, September 11, 2008 7:18 PM CDT

Again I apologies for the lack of updates. We have been so busy. I get home late from work, with homework and dinner, we are pretty much beat and ready for bed right after that. The times I have had time to sit down and update, the internet has been down and I have been unable.
It seems alot has been going on since I last updated. Chase was officially and remains cancer free for one year. He had his last scheduled spinal tap 3 weeks ago. Ever since then, he has been having trouble. I know he did have a spinal leak after it, with swelling and severe pain in his back and head. 3 days after the spinal, he experienced a "mini-seizure". He was playing WII and just suddenly stopped, zoned out and then was completely exhausted. THese started happening more and more frequently. They seem to only happen when he is already tired. He still has a headache for the majority of his day. He has learned to just tolerate it. This last week, he has started having severe bone pains. To say I have been a little worried, is a major understatement. I am almost sure that all of these symptoms span from the spinal, but still worrisome. He had tests run today, and if he is not feeling better by Monday, he will be seen by Dr.Stine next Wednesday. Please pray with us that all these things go away and that he is back to enjoying life very soon.

Thank you so much for those of you who still check in on us. We appreciate so very much.

Friday, August 8, 2008 4:20 AM CDT

I apologize for the vast amount of time in between entries. This has just been a crazy summer. Chase and Catie have only been home what seems like a couple hours. Catie was home for 2 weeks that went by too fast, but Chase really hasn't spent more than a 24 hour period with us since the first week in JUne. I hope to get some pictures downloaded of their great summer. I know they have had a ball.

As to why I have chosen this morning to write....I would like to wish Chase a very happy anniversary. TOday marks 1 YEAR OFF CHEMO. 1 year ago today, I took him in for what we hope to be the last. It was such a special day. After 5+ years of straight chemo, he was DONE. And now a year later...boy what a difference a year makes. He is doing great. Living life as it should be lived.(well he may be a little busier than some, but hey he had to make up so much). He feels great. He looks great. And his smile is so much brighter. Thank you to all who prayed for this day to happen.

As for our friends, so many in need of prayer. Pray for Elijah as they found a couple new spots on his scans, and are now heading to Philadelphia for special treatment. Please continue to pray for Jessica and Travis(who I haven't moved on the home page, because I have to remember how, lol, sorry guys!) who are fighting hard. Pray for Palmer as she continues to heal from her transplant. Remember Job who has fought so much and will win against this CMV too. Remember all the others so much still in the fight and for those mommies and daddies that don't get to hug and love on their children, hug and love on yours, don't waste time. It is not a guarantee.

Also, please remember the Crowder family. They lost their dear Aunt Cassie last weekend in an automobile accident.

Ok now have to get ready for work. My babies will be coming in over the weekend for a wedding, and they will be off again on Sunday. Pray for safe travels. Their HOMEBOUND flight lands at 8:45 on Thursday, and they will be HOME.

Saturday, June 21, 2008 4:50 PM CDT

I am so sorry it has been so long since I last updated. I tried once, but internet went down before I posted. I have been SO busy with work since the kids have been on vacation, and just haven't had the time at work to update and am too exhausted to update when I get home.

Chase is doing great. He and Catie went to Camp Quality last week and had a fantastic time. They performed circus acts and that was very impressive...Chase on the trapeze and Catie on the tight rope. THey are now on vacation with grandparents for a month. Yes you read that right, a month. Dr. Stine gave the ok to miss June's appointment and come in early for July's. They are spending the first two weeks with Mimi and Papa(my parents) and then going to Nannie and BobBob's(Matt's parents). THey have already been to Wet n Wild,or whatever it is called now, the Blue Bell Ice cream factory, ridden a train from Ft.Worth to Dallas, the Dallas Aquarium, and other things I am sure I have left out and they only have been gone since Sunday afternoon. THey still have in the plan, Vacation Bible School, Six Flags, a trip to San Antonio, Sea World, Alamo, Riverwalk, and to the beach on 4th of July. They are very lucky kids out ENJOYING life and their summer. Alot of missed fun times to be made up by both. We are very blessed to have such wonderful parents that love and cherish our kids as much as they do.

When they do return, Chase will be gone again. Not sure what Catie will be doing, but Chase will only be home for about 72 total hours until the week before school starts. He has a dude ranch trip with CARTI(his radiation hospital), church camp, and Camp Aldersgate, another cancer camp. THen they will travel back to Texas via plane and do some school shopping and spend the last two weeks with grandparents before the school year starts. Other than weekends and holidays, they don't get to spend very much time with them during the school year.

We can not express how very blessed we feel right now. Our kids are getting to be kids. Not stuck in a hospital, sick as a dog, or having to worry where they are going to be tonight because Bubba is too sick and has to go to the hospital. THe last 6 years have been hard on the entire family, and it is so exciting to see our babies HAVING FUN. We miss them terribly, but they so deserve it.

Going back a bit farther, Chase finished his first year of school. He received a trophy for having ALL A's and B's all year. That was very special. He finished out his baseball season with only minor aches and pains, no more broken bones. He scored a run in Little league, which meant so much to him and us. I don't know if any of you have heard the song, Braid My Hair by Randy Owen of Alabama, but other than the braid my hair part, it is Chase in a nutshell. I used to wish for grand things to happen for him, the whole time him only wishing to do "normal" kid stuff like riding a bike, make a new friend, climbing trees, running and playing, and scoring a run in Little League, now I am just thankful for today and pray that tomorrow will be a good day too. No reason to worry what will happen in the future, God is in control, and for the most part, we have no control.

Well I guess that is a long enough update for now. We are still planning to do something with the Relay for LIfe. THe Lonoke relay was cancelled, so we are trying to plan something in England before the year ends. Hopefully we will get it in before school starts, but with Chase's schedule, that may be hard. GOd Bless you all. Thanks for still checking in on us. Remember those still hard in the fight and those parents who had to let their kids go "home".

Thursday, May 22, 2008 8:03 AM CDT

So so sorry it has been so long since I have updated. We all have been so very busy with normal life stuff. It is great, but I sure am tired, lol. Chase scored his first run last week in baseball after being walked. At the next at bat, he hit the ball for the first time, and it was such a memorable night. Catie is busy with ball too. We are all ready for summer. The kids will spend a big part of it in Texas. They are so excited. Catie will stay in Texas this weekend when we come back and Chase will go after camp in just a couple weeks. He still has school until next Friday. We go back for his monthly checkup next Wednesday. We are praying for a very uneventful checkup. Those are always good.

As I mentioned a couple of months ago, the Leukemia Society's Light the Night walk was cancelled for this year. We will be participating in The American Cancer Society's Relay for Life in Lonoke. It is scheduled for the evening of June 13(Friday) from 6-12. We will be frantically trying to gather a team and fundraising since I have not had any time to devote to it until now. You can visit our team page and register and/or DONATE. Once you register, you will have your own donation page you can email to friends and family to help funds to fight this terrible disease that affects so many.

We will be having tshirts made. Not sure the exact design yet. It will be a pretty quick order time though. The only thing I am sure of is they won't be pink and they will have 4th annual Team Chase & Friends. I will have paypal set up and they will be $10 I think. Hope to have details by this weekend.

Saturday, May 10, 2008 9:26 AM CDT

Things habe been going relatively well. Chase has been under the weather this week, but we are still hoping it is a virus. I was sick on Tuesday too, and it was just awful, still not sure if I am completely back to par. So I can not imagine how hard it has been on his body. He has missed school and baseball this week. He has really been worn out and hasn't been eating at all. Well I guess that is about it. Nannie and BobBob are here visiting and hopefully Chase will feel like doing more than just getting out of bed. Thanks for visiting.

Sunday, April 27, 2008 3:44 PM CDT

Chase had his monthly visit this last week and everything looked great. On Thursday, he began having gastro "episodes" again. The school nurse called on Thursday morning and said that after Chase ate, he was doubled over in pain and I could hear him crying in the background. He did this same thing Friday morning, but it got better much quicker. Then again yesterday, on our way to Monticello, he was screaming that his stomach was killing him, so much that we were headed to Drew Memorial. Then he began throwing up, and once he was finished throwing up, he felt much better. I called the gastro doc on Friday, and I hope she gets back to me tomorrow. We are praying yesterday was the last one.

Monday, April 14, 2008 8:27 PM CDT

Chase is doing great. His leg is getting less and less sore each day. We have allowed him to start "being a boy" again with running and playing. I am not 100% he ever stopped outside of our presence.

He is really enjoying baseball. The difference in his abilities is very obvious on his team. He is on a team with SUPERSTAR baseball players. They are amazing. I keep telling him that not all the third graders are that good, and he is doing good too.

He completed his first day of standardized testing today. He says he did ok and he knew most of the answers. We will see when the grades come in. But it is just a test.

That is about it. Remember our friends in the battle. Jessica will soon be starting her fight again. Remember her and her family as this begin the next step of fighting this terrible disease.

Oh yeah! We will be participating in the Lonoke Relay for Life on June 13. It is a mini relay. It will be Friday night from 6pm until Midnight. We are hoping for a great turnout. We are registered as a team online if you would like to go ahead and register and start RAISING MONEY. I will get info out as soon as possible. We are working on tshirts too.

Saturday, April 5, 2008 9:02 PM CDT

I have tried to update twice this week to no avail...so I try again.

Unfortunately, another "friend" of ours earned his wings this morning. Baby Ethan, who fought such the fight, passed in his parents' arms around noon today. I just hate it, but I know Ethan knows NO MORE pain ever again.

As for Chase, he is doing good. His leg is getting stronger and stronger. It still swells like a balloon after baseball practice. He may have to take it a little easier, which he HATES, this week. He is already only allowed to throw the ball and bat, but may be too much still after only three weeks.

He has the benchmark coming up. This will be his first ever standardized test. I am praying hard he does ok. If not, that is ok too. It is after all JUST A TEST!

Sunday, March 23, 2008 8:51 PM CDT

Please remember the family of Ryan Monday in your prayers. Ryan earned his wings late last night. He celebrated this Easter with Jesus. How lucky he is, but how devastated his family who is left behind must be. I just HATE cancer and what it does to everyone surrounded by it.

Chase is doing pretty good. He and Catie are both in Texas on Spring Break. His leg is healing up nicely it seems, and he is more than ready to be off the crutches. His spinal on Wednesday was clean. Thank you God. Sorry I am just now getting to an update. I wrote on Wednesday, but something happened and it wouldn't save to the journal, so I gave up and am just now getting a chance to update.

Monday, March 17, 2008 10:28 PM CDT

We are back in the emergency room. Chase's first baseball practice did work out as well as planned. He did great until the last 5 minutes. They were running laps, his legs gave out, and he hit the floor. Same knee as last week, blew up like a balloon, and off we went. We may have to reconsider the sport's career. Pray it is not broken and he didn't tear anything. The emergency room is crazy, CRAZY tonight. Good news...the fever has gone away as of now. Thank god for that answered prayer.

Sunday, March 16, 2008 1:00 PM CDT

Chase started running a pretty high fever last night and it continued this morning. It is down from almost 103 with Tylenol. He is extremely weak and hasn't been eating well the last few days. The doc in the ER really wanted to do a cbc on Wednesday, but I said it wasn't needed because he will have his oncology appointment this week. Now I sure wish he had his blood checked, I get so scared when he has strange symptoms that come up so suddenly and just wipe him out.

Friday, March 14, 2008 7:28 PM CDT

This has been a pretty crazy week, for sure Wednesday was. It started with Matt having an emergency visit before we got up for cutting the tip of his finger almost off. They were able to repair it and he should not have any problems with it. Then just a few hours later, Chase was accidentally tripped while running, fell, and hit the concrete pretty hard. I received a call at work saying he was very weak and in pain and needed to come home. Luckily Matt needed a change of clothes from the bloody ones he was wearing, and was able to pick him up. Chase's arm and leg got worse through the day and he called and said he needed to go to the doctor. Talk about shocking for Chase to say he needed to be seen. So needless to say, we headed to the emergency room. We found out that he did not have any "new" breaks, but had many parts of his bones that were healing from "old" breaks. That was crazy to hear since we had no idea that he might have broken anything before. The doctor said that his osteoporosis was getting worse in most places rather than better, which we had hoped for. She stated that he has been extremely lucky to not have any major breaks so far. She said he was like a glass with many small cracks in it, one thump could cause it all to shatter, and that he needed to be seen and xrayed anytime he had anykind of incident. So for now, he is just sprained and bruised up pretty good and we pray his bones start healing NOW. We made it through the rest of the week and are ALL really excited about the weekend. I will try to do better with updating. Thank you to all who check on and pray for Chase and the rest of us.

Wednesday, March 5, 2008 7:57 PM CST

I finally have found a job. I started today. Boy am I tired, and I know Chase and Catie are more than exhausted. Chase had to catch the bus at 6:45 this morning. He was actually very excited about it. He thinks the bus is the coolest thing. He is very proud to be riding it. It has been his wish to get to ride the school bus for so many years. I am glad that I could grant this wish, haha. I am sure the "coolness" of it will wear off very soon, but for now we celebrate with him. Catie will start her new school tomorrow. She isn't near as excited as her bubba. Chase continues to get stronger everyday. His legs bother him some, but they aren't slowing him down. He is ready for the weather to warm up and stay that way, so that they can get out and PLAY. Thanks for checking in on us and all of your prayers.

I hope to get information gathered very soon about Team Chase and Friends 2008. We will be walking in the Relay for LIfe this year, since they cancelled the Leukemia walk. We are still in the process of deciding whether to walk in Lonoke(closer to us) or in Cabot(where we know others walking). We will need all the volunteers we can get to walk with us this year since it is spread out over 12 hours. Let me know if you would like to join us.

Monday, February 25, 2008 11:12 PM CST

Chase is doing great. Having a tiny bit of leg pain, but nothing much. Sure not enough to justify medicine.
Matt started his new job today, and we are all loving him being home tonight.
I am continuing my job hunt. And that is WHAT IT IS...a HUNT. The paper is usually filled with opportunities, well not this week. Of course, not when I am looking. I have had a couple of interviews, but haven't heard back from any yet. I am being inpatient, I know, but it is because my need outways my patience. I am praying hard that something will fall into place very soon. I know it is all in God's timing, but sometimes it is really hard to wait.

Wednesday, February 20, 2008 12:08 AM CST

A couple quick prayer requests:

Ms.Cindy made it to Houston ok and is scheduled for a new drainage tube tomorrow. Pray all goes very smoothly.

Job is SCHEDULED to get out of the hospital today, but the doctors drug their feet ordering his medicines. Pray that all is right on track and Job can escape on his Mama's birthday.

Very small compared to all of our friends, but I think I may have found the perfect opportunity for me. It is a job doing exactly what I am used to doing, or at least did when I worked full time for sure. It is in a wonderful working enviornment and for the right money. Please pray with me that they will see my strengths and offer me the opportunity to explore it more.

Urgent Prayer Request:

Ms.Cindy is having to,urgently, go back to Houston for a clogged drain tube. Please pray for this to be a quick and easy fix. She has been struggling both emotionally and physically so much since her surgery. Please pray for her. She is soooo very special to us.

We had an ok weekend. I am hoping that we are all not getting sick. Tonight was my night to feel bad. Catie was miserable last night, and Chase was miserable yesterday afternoon. No one has run a real fever, we have all been around 99.5-100, when we have felt the worst. Chase had some pretty intense abdominal cramping this afternoon, but it seems to have subsided now and no fevers today. I have a couple interviews this week, and getting sick would not be good. Chase is off from school tomorrow and is very excited about that. He will go to the asthma doctor on Tuesday for his asthma flare ups. That is about all I know. Please keep our friends in your prayers, so many still fighting hard for life, so many parents having to live daily without their babies, and so many having the fear of uncertainity that cancer has to offer.

Tuesday, February 12, 2008 10:27 PM CST

Chase seems to have gotten over the virus he had. He had a fantastic weekend. We went on his very first field trip to the Museum of Discovery on Friday and then he went to spend the night at a slumber party with a couple of friends that night. He had a wonderful time. He seems to be enjoying himself more and more at school. Yesterday he had a bit of nausea, and made sure the nurse knew that he wanted to stay he just wanted his medicine. She called me anyway to make sure that was ok with me. Ha, if he wants to stay, that is great with me. We are really getting back into the swing of things. I even have a job interview on Thursday. I am trying not to get nervous, it just has been so long since I was out in the real world. Well I guess that is about all I know. Thank you for all that continue to check on us.

I almost forgot...tomorrow is Chase's 6 month checkup off of treatment. I am praying hard that all his numbers that were off last month are back to normal, especially the liver functions. He has made soooo much improvement since our last visit. Hopefully on the insides too.

Thursday, February 7, 2008 4:54 PM CST

Well...after so looking forward to the jump-a-thon, Chase didn't make it to it. He woke up with a fever yesterday, and was very cruddy sounding, so I couldn't send him(nor did he feel at all like going). Luckily the fever never got above 101, and resolved after only one dose of Tylenol. He is still thrilled that he did his part in raising money for the American Heart Association. Soon, we will be starting our yearly fundraiser for Team Chase & Friends for the Light the Night Walk supporting the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. We would love for everyone in town that weekend to join us for the walk. It means so much to us to see everyone each year supporting Chase & all our friends fighting this terrible disease.
Chase is feeling much better today, and looks forward to his first ever field trip tomorrow. Thanks so much for continuing to check on and pray for our Bubbie.

Oh, and I almost forgot. We had an answered prayer yesterday for sure. Matt got a job working for Raytheon at the Little Rock airport yesterday. We are so excited to have him home for good at the end of February.

Friday, February 1, 2008 12:41 AM CST

Chase continues to improve slowly each day. His fevers still come and go with Tylenol, but much farther apart and MUCH lower. He has moments that he feels pretty good and will play, and then he wears himself out and rests. Hopefully by Monday, he will be back to normal. He is excited about the Jump Rope for Heart event next Wednesday and I think they have a field trip coming up too. I guess that is about it. THank you for all of your prayers.

Tuesday, January 29, 2008 4:18 PM CST

Chase's fever continues to go up and down. He seems to be feeling much better after resting well when we got home from the doctor. He is actually sitting up on the couch now playing a video game. Steps in the right direction.

Tuesday, January 29, 2008 7:38 AM CST

Chase did not get admitted last night thankfully, but he was extremely close. If the hospital wouldn't have been in crisis overload, he would have been. He kept a temp above 103 for the entire time we were there. We got home about 2 this morning. The ER doctor really wanted us to keep his infectious disease appointment this morning. I had really thought about cancelling it because he was doing so awesome. So after little sleep, we are headed back to ACH in moments.
He did test NEGATIVE once again to everything they checked for...pneumonia, flu, strep. He was diagnosed with "SOME SORT OF VIRUS". After his early morning(4:00am) dose of Tylenol, his fever has come down to 101.6. We will take that temp anyday over what it was last night. He slept pretty comfortably for the last few hours, too.
I will update about our doctor appointment when we get home. I will do my best to update before we nap, but if I don't check the guestbook for Mimi and Nannie/BobBob updates. Thanks for your prayers. Carrie and Chase

Monday, January 28, 2008 9:34 PM CST

Chase did ok at school today and then had what we think was a severe asthma attack. During his attack, I checked his temperature, it was 102.7. I immediately gave him Tylenol, and it has gone up, up, and then down a bit and stabilized at about 103.5. I thought it best to go ahead and bring him into the ER, so we now sit at ACH. They are doing a whole realm of tests, flu, strep, cbc, electolytes, liver functions, chest xray and the such. He is receiving a nice bolus of fluids, which will hopefully help his fever come down with the next dose of Tylenol, due soon. We ask for your prayers that this is just a "normal" childhood illness from school and nothing more. I will update when possible, expecially if something unexpected comes up.

Saturday, January 26, 2008 11:30 AM CST

Chase is participating in his very first ever school wide community service project. He will be participating in this year's JUMP ROPE FOR HEART, benefitting the American Heart Association. A couple of week's ago I would have never imagined he would be doing this, but he is so excited about it(and so are all of us). I noticed today on the form that you can collect online donations, so we decided to let everyone know of his efforts. His money is due to the coach on Friday, February 1st, so I am assuming that is the deadline for online donations also. If you would like to help him reach his goal, you can click on the link below. We sure appreciate your help and your prayers. Your prayers have CERTAINLY helped him get to where this is even a possibility for him to compete in.

Thursday, January 24, 2008 9:28 PM CST

Chase continues to do really well. I can tell it is close to the end of week, because he is starting to get worn out a bit, but it is a GOOD worn out. He comes home from school and goes and goes(has gone to school everyday since starting back). He has been to Wednesday night church two weeks in a row, and simply LOVES it. He had a wonderful birthday weekend. We had to say goodbye to Matt again after our wonderful weekend.
Please pray for his safety with the job he is on now. He is working in Kansas City in the freezing temps/ice/snow very high up in the air. It has been a very long time since he has done a job like this(been working nuclear for a long while) and he is a bit out of practice and with the weather conditions it is very dangerous. He put in an application at a couple local places, but he was told he was overqualified for the welding positions around here. It stinks that he can not be home with us full time. We are going to continue to pray for an opportunity to open up for us to be together.

We are looking forward to another birthday weekend. This weekend we will celebrate with Mimi and Papa. I can't believe that my baby girl is going to be 5, seems like only yesterday in some ways and other ways it seems like she should be 25 by now. HOpefully this weekend will be as great as last except that we don't have daddy home. well enough of my rambling tonight....love on your kids and your loved ones.

Friday, January 18, 2008 1:40 PM CST

Chase continues to do really well. He has made it to school every day this week. We have changed our plans some with our trip to Fayetteville. Matt will probably have to leave on Sunday or Monday and we want to be able to spend as much time with him until he leaves. Hopefully he will not go too far away this time, but we don't know for sure yet. Nannie and BobBob have decided to come up for the weekend since we are not going to Fayetteville. We have a big weekend planned for Chase's birthday. We continue to pray for Chase's strength to improve each and every day as well as for all our friends going through their daily battles.

Tuesday, January 15, 2008 10:08 PM CST

Chase has had a good couple of days. What a difference a week can make. He had a friend spend the night over the weekend, and that was a big thrill. He has made it to school Thursday, Friday, yesterday and today. He seems to be enjoying it. He is getting back into the swing of school very quickly.
We are planning a trip to Fayetteville this weekend for his birthday. I can't believe Saturday he will be 10 years old(and harder to believe that my baby girl will be 5 next Sunday....crazy). They are growing up so very fast. We are looking forward to celebrating this birthday off of chemo and cancer free(and OUT of the hospital). We pray that he continues to improve everyday and the fevers continue to get farther and farther apart and disappear for good.

Saturday, January 12, 2008 9:57 AM CST

The medicines change already seem to be making a difference. Chase is much more alert than before for sure(and his attitude is totally more positive). He stopped the Lyrica last night. We will hopefully see more improvements over the coming days. He says he has noticed that his legs are starting to hurt a little again, but that he can take a little. He still ran a fever last night, so hopefully the Lyrica wean will help that out. He says he isn't AS achy as he was, but that it is still there. He went to school both Thursday and Friday(Thursday till he had to go to PT/OT and all day Friday). He has been playing with a friend at recess and met a new one yesterday. Things are really starting to look up. Maybe by his birthday(next Sat) he will be back to his normal happy self feeling GREAT!!!!

Wednesday, January 9, 2008 10:36 PM CST

We had our visit with Dr.Stine today. He and the pain team got a plan together to wean Chase off and stop other medicines to hopefully help with the fevers, pain, and lethargy. I wish the meeting could have been handled a little better than it was. Dr.Stine had a very stressful day and boy did it show. Enough about that. Most of Chase's bloodwork looked fantastic. His liver enzymes were quite elevated, but maybe that too will work itself out with the changes in medicine. His next appointment with Hem/Onc is Feb 6.

We are going to work real hard this next month to get Chase back into the world of "happy" people. I know he doesn't always feel like doing anything, but I have been bad about just letting him lay around when he feels bad. Now that he has the all clear to be around people again, I am going to try and get him out of this house and out of his room/bed as much as possible. It has become too much of his "comfort" zone. He is so shy and has a hard time making friends in large settings(like school). Everyone knows who he is(and he hasn't had time to really get to know who they are), and that is a little overwhelming for him, I think. He had a good friend from school that moved away a little time after he got sick, so that is somewhat scary for him returning to school, too. His birthday is coming up in only 10 days and I am hoping and praying that he can start playing with a few people at school and have some friends to invite over for a small party.

Tuesday, January 8, 2008 7:50 PM CST

Well....Chase has another double ear infection. We took him to the doctor today and sure enough. That would explain why he has felt so much worse since Friday.

We go to Dr.Stine tomorrow for his monthly checkup. I am hoping to talk to the pain team about starting to wean him off his neuropathy medicines. Dr.Roach said today they had no other options open other than his medicines. That just stunk to say the least. So we are praying hard that the medicine change solves the fever and unwell issues.

I want my baby back to feeling good.

Saturday, January 5, 2008 9:34 PM CST

Chase hasn't felt well at all the last two days. Thursday was a pretty good day, but then he turned yesterday. His temp spiked over 101 last night(almost 102) and again tonight. He hurts all over especially in his stomach. I am planning to take him to the doctor on Monday even though we go see Dr.Stine on Wednesday. I regret not taking him yesterday even though I doubt there is anything they can do for him. He is "pretty" excited about getting to go back to school. I am just hoping he can start feeling better so he can actually go some now that the doctor gave him an all clear for school. We got the word yesterday that the infectious disease doctor believes he is not contagious and does not have any type of infection. We don't know the next step yet. She was going to have a conference with Dr.Stine and Dr. Roach first. I am guessing it will be a change in medicines. At least one of his meds can possibly cause fevers as well as Advil itself can cause fevers(did not know that one before last week). I just want them to find out what is causing him to run fevers and feel so bad for so long now. I (and he more than me) am so tired of him being sick and tired. It is way past time for him to get to be a KID!

Monday, December 31, 2007 9:51 PM CST

We had a wonderful Christmas and are enjoying a quiet New Year's eve as a FAMILY. It has been so nice to have daddy home this last month. We are bowling on the WII that Santa brought Chase. It is very addictive.
Chase continues to run fevers most every night. We had a nice visit with the infectious disease doctor on Friday. She ran some more tests and we should know the results sometime this week. She says overall he looks very good. She also said she is going to get to the bottom of the fevers and the overall ill feeling he has had for so long now. That is so great to hear.
Well we are so looking forward to the new year. We want to wish each and every one of you the happiest and most blessed year of all.

Happy New Year!

Sunday, December 23, 2007 1:38 PM CST

Sorry for the delay in updates...I have been running around getting ready for Christmas. We had a wonderful celebration with Matt's family yesterday. We had 18 over. It was so nice to be able to host it in our new house. We have never had the space or the opportunity to host Christmas before. It was so much fun. Truly a blessing. Chase felt "ok", but I, on the other hand, had to spend the evening in the ER. I cut my finger on a green bean can, and hadn't had a tetnus shot at least since I have been married(14 years). Ended up, I needed stitches too, but I postponed my trip to the ER too long to get them without an infection, so I ended up with steristrips all wrapped up. Oh what fun it was.
We will have Christmas dinner with my parents and sister and brother in law on Tuesday. We almost had to make other arrangements, as my mother broke her ankle on Thursday, and had surgery to repair it on Friday. She is toughing it out and coming anyway tonight.
Chase is doing ok. He continues to run sporadic fevers, but not near as high as before the antibiotics. We will be going to the infectious diseases doctor on Friday. MAYBE they can figure something out.

I hope everyone has a wonderful and MERRY CHRISTMAS. Remember the reason for the season. Hug and love on your kids as much as you can. Take time to really enjoy the holidays. With Love from our family to yours,
The Wellenbergers

Monday, December 17, 2007 10:56 PM CST

We have a dear prayer warrior who is very sick. We are asking for prayers of healing for Mr.Ray. He was instrumental in Chase's "knighting" ceremony at his end of treatment party. He has lung cancer, and during scans for radiation today, they found cancer in his stomach. Please pray for him and all of our other dear friends still fighting this terrible disease, and please still remember those friends in remission, as they still have many battles to continue fighting from side effects and the such.

Thursday, December 13, 2007 11:23 PM CST

I am nervous to write this, but the highest Chase's temp got(on the thermometer at least) was 99.4. The last time I wrote his fevers were better, we had one of the worst nights in months, so pray not this time. He feels so much better than he did Monday. None of the tests that have come back are positive, a very good thing, but at the same time, it would be so nice to know exactly what to treat. He has completed 3 full days of antibiotics, so maybe just maybe the fevers will GO AWAY soon, very soon.

It would be so nice if he was able to go back to school before the holidays begin.

Tuesday, December 11, 2007 7:22 PM CST

Yesterday by far was the worst day Chase has had in awhile. He felt AWFUL! Not to mention, it was a very busy day of running and waiting(was for me and I didn't feel bad at all).

He is feeling much better today. Not really good, but much better. We do know that he has an active ear infection, for which he is now back on antibiotics. The doctor yesterday ran all sorts of blood tests, and ordered a head cat scan for today. Maybe it will show some sort of sinus infection that the xray did not show that has just been lingering causing the fevers.

His temp was 99.6 just a bit ago, but I believe that was the highest it has been today. So beats yesterday. I think the only time he didn't have a fever was while we were at the doctor's office(OF COURSE!). He started his fever there, I think. The phlebotomist was absoulutely convinced that he had a HIGH temp. She actually refused to take his blood until the nurse(3 came in because they didn't believe the thermometer) reaccessed him. It was quite weird, but it wasn't long after this that the thermometer read 101.4 before I could get him some Tylenol. And then within 4 hours of the Tylenol it was over 100 again, so he had a dose of Advil. Luckily that was the last high one.

I will update if I find out anything about any of his tests in the coming days.

Please remember Job in your prayers. He received his miracle of lungs today. Pray for no complications and strength for him and his family.

Sunday, December 9, 2007 9:14 PM CST

Chase continues to run fevers, but they seem to be getting farther apart. His port surgery site is healing well. It is a bit sore, but he is able to put his arms above his head again. We go to the PCP and the dentist tomorrow. Maybe one of them will have some input into what might be going on.

Thursday, December 6, 2007 10:08 AM CST

Chase is out of surgery and doing really well. He is ready for a breakfast burrito from Sonic and ready to get home and have a restful day. We are praying that this procedure takes care of the fevers and ill feelings all together. Thank you for all the prayers.

Thursday, December 6, 2007 5:34 AM CST

We will be leaving soon for Chase's surgery. I will update when it is completed.

Sunday, December 2, 2007 10:24 PM CST

We made it to the Christmas party and the concert. We had a great time at the party. We saw many friends and the kids loved winning prizes and seeing Santa. The concert was a little disappointing. As long as Chase and Catie had been looking forward to it, for Chase not to feel well during it was a real bummer. It really was a good concert, he just wasn't up to it, and Catie spent the whole concert worrying about her bubba. They both sang to their favorite songs, Catie danced to a few, but Chase never left his wheelchair. I had sure imagined a totally different experience, so I think I was the one most let down. They did get a concert tshirt and were pretty proud of those. The best part of yesterday was, Daddy IS HOME! We were all thrilled with that. It has been way too long. It will be nice to have him here for Chase's surgery this week.

Friday, November 30, 2007 2:39 PM CST

Well after 3 hours of sleep and returning to Little Rock this morning a little after 5, Chase's surgery was postponed. He had an asthma attack last night and was quite congested this morning. I was really not comfortable with the anesthesia part of the procedure and I expressed my concerns to the doctor. They decided it was not worth the risk at all to put him under if he was already having some respitary issues. Anesthesia and the vent could have only made it worse. Instead, we will get him over this little hiccup(congestion) and proceed with surgery next week. Thank you all for your prayers.

Friday, November 30, 2007 5:39 AM CST

We are awaiting surgery now. We had to be up at the hospital this morning at 5am. It was pretty tough getting up this morning due to the fact that we didn't leave Monticello until after 11 last night. We had a nice time visiting with "Nana's" wonderful family, just so wish it was under different circumstances. We love them all so much.
Wonderful news on Lindsey. Her marrow was clean. After a very worrysome and PRAYERFULL month, all of our prayers were answered and she is in COMPLETE REMISSION! GO GOD!

I will update later when Chase is out of surgery. Pray that all goes well and he will feel so much better soon. He had a busy day scheduled tomorrow before the surgery came up. We are really hoping that we can still make it to the CARTI(radiation) Christmas party and the Hannah Montana/ Jonas Brothers concert. He was already planning to go to the concert in his wheelchair, so we will just add a few extra cushions to keep him comfortable.

Thursday, November 29, 2007 10:07 AM CST

I don't know the exact results from Chase's echo yesterday, but I don't think it was anything bad. Dr.Stine did schedule urgent surgery to have Chase's port removed tomorrow after viewing it and blood counts, but he also said his blood counts look like he is fighting some sort of chronic virus. At least we are looking into things now. Not that having an "unknown" virus is going to help him feel better, but hopefully the port removal will be the key. He also ran some more tests and are having us come back in for more cultures before the port is removed to see if it will grow anything. We will see...so for now, we just wait and recuperate.

Chase is very nervous about "losing" his port this way. He knows he still has to have blood drawn each month and HATES and his petrified of arm sticks. Please pray that this transition goes smoothly. We will have our first port free visit next Wednesday.

Tuesday, November 27, 2007 10:58 PM CST

Chase is scheduled for an echo of his heart tomorrow to look for a source of his fevers. They have gone on way too long. He was really seeming to feel better the last week or so, but still the occasional high temp. Even today, he seemed to have felt much better than yesterday, but spiked a fever a little over an hour ago. Currently, 102.3. This is the highest it has gotten in a while. I had to put a call into the hospital, Carol had told me to hold all Tylenol and Advil until tests tomorrow, so they could draw cultures and the such. Dr.Becton told me that Tylenol/Advil tonight should not affect tests in the coming days. I was really hoping he could get a half day of school in tomorrow, but with that high of a fever, I would say that is out.

Monday, November 26, 2007 2:11 PM CST

We had an absolutely wonderful holiday! Chase felt soooo much better than he has in weeks, but we sure did miss Matt. He will be home for Christmas though, hopefully sooner than later the layoff will come. Strange feeling, hoping and praying for my husband to get laid off, but that's the way his jobs work.
For now, Chase is running a fever. It took Advil and Tylenol to bring it down. I am praying hard it is just from exhaustion and nothing else.
We lost a dear dear friend this morning to cancer. Please remember Debbie's family in your prayers in the coming days, weeks, and especially the holiday season. She is one of Chase' "adopted" grandmothers. She was so very special to our entire family. We will miss her so very much. She fought such a hard battle, and God saved her from any more pain and cancer.
Also, I just received word that another of our Monticello friends is on her way to ACH with her baby that has possible Menegitis. Her name is Ella.

Tuesday, November 20, 2007 9:53 PM CST

Chase made it 1 1/2 out of 2 days this week. He was sick to his stomach earlier today and came home, but seems to be feeling much better now. We made it to Texas safely for Thanksgiving. His legs are improving each day. I am really thinking that he did have a virus and he is now getting over it. It is so nice to see him feeling better and being able to be a kid again.

I want to wish each and everyone of you a very blessed and Happy Thanksgiving. We have so much to be thankful for.

Wednesday, November 14, 2007 12:18 AM CST

Praise God all is good with his spinal fluid. Maybe we can now move on to find out what else it could be...Words could never truly express how very thankful we are for all of the prayers being sent up for the no relapse results. I can now at least breathe again...

Tuesday, November 13, 2007 4:10 PM CST

Our sweet friend Brandon earned his angel wings last night. He put up such a strong fight, but the infection in his lungs was just too much for his little body. He will be greatly missed. Please pray for his entire family...he has a little sister and a little brother that sure do love their bubba(not to mention the rest of his family).

As for Chase, he just isn't feeling good at all. He is now scheduled for a spinal tap tomorrow morning. We have to be there when the clinic doors open. We can pray hard that it is only a virus and NOTHING MORE.

Monday, November 12, 2007 7:49 PM CST

Chase had a pretty rotten day today. Actually for the most part, his weekend was pretty crummy. His legs are just killing him. His energy level is in the trash and he just feels yucky all over. I am going to call the PCP tomorrow to see if they have any suggestions or want to see him again. I did make him attempt school today, but I got a call by 10:30 saying he felt too bad to stay. We did get all his schoolwork done at home with breaks, so at least he won't fall behind.

Please remember all of our friends. Brandon and Elijah are sure having a tough time right now, and so many others need your thoughts and prayers.

Thursday, November 8, 2007 8:50 PM CST

Dr visits went well. Chase's counts have dropped in half since last month. THey are still in the normal levels, but on the low side of normal. It could be that he has a virus that is dropping them and making him feel like total crap. He seemed to have felt much better today than Tuesday and Wednesday. His leg medicine was upped. We are going to start out with double than possibly add another dose if it still isn't working. I just hope he starts to feel better and can get back to school on Monday. It is so nervewracking when he has weird symptoms. To see and hear about so many of our friend's fighting so hard right now and to remember each day all the friend's we have lost, it is scary to think that one cold may not really be a cold.
I know I shouldn't think that way, but it is jsut a way of life that I have to learn to live with. We no longer have the comfort of chemo. Sad to think that chemo was a comfort, but to me it was. Enough of that....

Brandon is having a pretty tough time right now...he was transferred to PICU yesterday and was put on a vent this afternoon. Please pray that his pneumonia is controlled very soon and he heals and rests while on the vent and can easily be taken off very soon.

ELijah is really starting to feel the effects from chemo/transplant. He has had a 103 fever for most of the day. Pray that his fever subsides and his body begins to engraft as quickly as possible and that he experiences no surprises in the next couple of weeks.

Job actually had a really good day. Both his NG tube and Chest tube were "accidentally" pulled out, but were able to remain out. He is still fighting very hard waiting for his miracle.

Justin-Cole admitted for mouth sores....Palmer in Nashville for pre-transplant tests...Lindsey awaiting bone marrow tests after Thanksgiving...Ethan having spinal and MRI tomorrow...Baby Kale eating on his own but still needs many prayers....and there are just so many more that we know about and God knows them too. It just all stinks.

BUT PRAYERS DO WORK!!!!

Wednesday, November 7, 2007 10:23 AM CST

Today is Chase's monthly visit. We are praying that all is great and nothing from his blood work explains him feeling weak and tired lately.
Today is ELijah's big day. Transplant day. Time to kick that cancer to the curb for good. Please remember him and pray for minimal side effects from the transplant and chemo.
I am also adding a new baby to the list. Kale Fletcher is the newborn son of a dear prayer warrior of ours, Marcia George Fletcher. He is in the CVICU here at ACH right now.

Continue to pray for all of our other friends. Some having VERY tough times right now.

Wednesday, October 31, 2007 9:19 AM CDT

Well as you can see the election is over. Chase, I am sure did great giving his speech, but someone else won. Oh Well. Chase made honor roll, though. We will take that over being president anyday, lol. He is very proud of his certificate, AS HE SHOULD BE. He has started a new medicine for the pain in his legs. I can't really tell it is working yet, but the doctor said we would have to adjust his dose as we go along. We have a couple of friends that are in REAL need of your prayers. Cancer stinks! Elijah is starting chemo for transplant #2, Lindsey has to wait a month to find out about blasts in her bone marrow, Job is waiting for God to come take him, Brandon is in the hospital again, Baby Ethan's Leukemia is back and chemo may not be an option, and all of the kids still in the midst of their fight. And for the rest of us in this "cancer world", we live with the fear that any syptom may be the begining signs of the cancer coming back.

Saturday, October 20, 2007 10:46 AM CDT

The website will take on a different look this week, but no fear, the dragons will be returning very soon. Chase's class is having a mock election for president this week and we are going to utilize his website as a campaign tool. I will update to let you all know how the campaign is coming along.

Wednesday, October 10, 2007 12:52 AM CDT

Chase just met with the doctor for his monthly checkup. Dr.Saccente said he looks great. His counts are rebounding wonderfully and he is enjoying being a "normal" kid. She said it is completely expected for Chase to have increased bone density loss. She said with all the steroids, the Leukemia itself, and all the chemo, it is just one of the side effects he will deal with forever. THe only thing we can do to help the bones out is to keep him active as much as possible, but NOT to wear him out. She was shocked at how much school he WAS attending. She said that was fantastic that he was making it even 3 full days a week. She told us to contine to alter his school schedule and maybe after Christmas he might be able to try 5 day school. I wouldn't really say I had been altering his school schedule, but when he is so wiped out that he can't get out of bed, I do let him go in late if he gets up later. She told us not to push him too hard, his body will do what it can and we DON'T WANT HIM getting sick and not being able to rebound. Her words that I TOTALLY agree with.

Well it was a great checkup. We are still waiting to hear if he has to have his IVIG's. Last month he was on the cusp of normal, so maybe he will pass this month too. We will just wait and see.

Great NEWS!!!!
Ms.Cindy's tumor has shrunk! Praise God!

We have been reconnected with the world, or at least sort of. Our internet stills comes and goes. Hopefully that will be fixed this next week. Our tv's are back. We sure did miss them. The kids actually haven't watched that much since they have been turned back on, but it is nice to have them when they want to.

Today started out great, but ended with a bang. We went to the Keo Fall Days today. They had a couple of the blow up activities, a jump house and a slide. Chase and Catie played for almost two hours without incident, and then....Chase slid down the slide and his foot cracked at the bottom. It sure looked like it was broken with all the swelling, so we rushed him to ACH ER. Boy do we not miss the emergency room. Luckily it was not broken, just sprained. He has to stay off of it for a couple days and it should be fine. THey did say that his bones are very brittle and it appears(only an xray of his foot) that his Osteoporosis and Osteopenia has worsened since the last xray done of his ankle area in '05. I guess one of those side effects he will have to deal with his entire life. But we are happy to deal with side effects, because we are so very grateful to have him with us.

Well I guess that is about it for today. Hopefully I will get more chances to update. This last month has been absoulutely CRAZY. Still have tons more to unpack, but we are making progress. Thanks for all the prayers for us and our friends.

We are totally moved. We however have no internet yet, and my computer blew up AGAIN, and so have no way to get wireless internet from the handy wifi places. We are totally out of communication. We are so excited that we get cable back tomorrow. Without tv and computers, we are lost. Chase is doing well. Recovering from a major asthma attack from the move, but doing great OFF OF CHEMO. I will update bunches when I get connected. For the time being, please check the guestbook. BobBob and Mimi will keep you up to date there. Love to all and please continue checking on us. This no updating thing is only for a SHORT time.

Sorry for not updating. Chase's visit went well on Wednesday. His counts were up and he didn't need IVIG's. His body may have started making them on their own. We will find out if he needs them next month. Our next appointment is October 10th. He had a great day at school today. He even came home reading a book, which is a HUGE deal. I will update if anything new happens.

Today is Chase's first checkup since being off chemo. It is going to be a busy day. We go get counts early and then head to England for school pictures, wouldn't you know they had to be on the same day. Then we head back to ACH for the visit with Dr.Stine and possibly, hopefully IVIG's. Chase needs anything and everything he can get to boost his immune system. He woke up with another fever yesterday. I am believing he has caught whatever it is that I have been struggling with, just a Upper Respitory thing. He is really wiped, but fever responds to Tylenol and Advil. He did spike another low grade last night, but hopefully nothing today. He loves school so much, and just hates to miss it.
I will updater later about the clinic visit. Please continue to pray for TJ's family and the so many other great families whose children have fought the fight and won the race and those still fighting. There are just WAY TOO MANY. Cancer sucks!

It is with the heaviest of hearts that I write that our dear friend TJ has earned his wings this morning. He is no longer in pain, and never has to think of cancer again. Please pray for his family as they go ahead day by day without their precious son.

I uploaded 3 pictures in the view photos section!! It was so much easier than adding them to the site. Hopefully that will come soon, but wanted to get them on there.

Chase didn't make it to school today. He was extremely tired. He slept most of the day at the house in England. He didn't complain once that he was bored, and laid on a cot with nothing to do all day. I knew just by that he wasn't on top of the world. We did drive up to the school twice to try and get him to try, with no avail.

Chase's party was absolutely fantastic. It was so much fun. His Uncle Ricky and Uncle Paul knighted him and presented him his very own sword. It was the perfect "trophy" to represent his long battle. Words can not express what emotions I felt during the "ceremony". I was TOTALLY unaware of it before it happened and was just in awe. Thank you so very much for all of those that came to celebrate with us. I hope to have pictures up by tomorrow. Again thank you all for walking with us this past 5 years.

Our hearts break today for a dear friend of ours, Palmer, finding out that she has relapsed. Please pray with us for peace and strength for her and her family as they begin this battle again.

Chase has made it to school 2 1/2 days this week. He is extremely tired, yet still so very excited about school. I think he is actually enjoying it more everyday if that is even possible. He is making some friends, and really loves England school.

We are all so very excited about the party this weekend. We can't wait to see all of you there.

As we celebrate Chase's end of chemo, we remember those whose battle is still ongoing and those who are with our Lord and Savior. I just simply hate cancer!

Well Chase is feeling much better and hasn't run fever since yesterday. So...on with school tomorrow. I am ready for the meeting on Tuesday with the principal, nurse, and teacher to discuss Chase's needed modifications. One of which is not counting absences against him. Most of the others are actually in the classroom.
We should also finally have our signed contract on the house tomorrow, and hopefully it will all be down hill from now on, well except the packing and moving by myself part, lol. The inspector comes out on Tuesday, but hopefully that will have no bearing on the house except for our information of needed repairs. We were all so very excited to see how good the pool looks under the tarp since it had not been opened this year. It looked wonderful. Well enough about the house, it is just what is going on right now in the Wellenberger household.

Chase made it to school 3 full days...until he got sick. We had to take him into the doctor yesterday for a "virus". We had his counts checked and they were good, so we just had to have him stay home until Monday. He seemed to feel much better today, but did have a bit of fever this morning. Hopefully by Monday, he will be fever-free and can return to school.

Tuesday, August 21, 2007 1:41 PM CDT

Chase had a great first day of school yesterday, and is actually having another first day today. We found a house and signed a contract for a house in England yesterday. After meeting with the NLR school on Friday, it was the push I needed to really get into a house. Matt and I had been watching a house on the internet for a couple months, and looked at it Saturday and again yesterday and thought it was perfect for us. So rather than Chase becoming familiar with Park Hill and then being taken out of it in 30 or so days, England School District let him begin today. It is a bit of a drive, but hopefully will only be for 20 days of school, and actually the drive is the same as from the house in Monticello to Monticello schools. So big changes this week. It is exciting and scary at the same time. I will post a picture on here as soon as I get a chance.
