Glad to hear things are going well - mostly , at least. I received a parcel from the US today - the one I sent for Jess and Ben in mid-July!! I'll need to check your address before I know whether to blame the US postal system or put my own hand up to a mistaken address. But am annoyed that you never received what was supposed to divert the 2 kids for even just a little while: sorry about that. I'll re-address and re-post it and maybe it will do as a birthday present for Jess instead.
TAKE IT EASY Graham!!

Hello dear friends (and neighbors).
It has been a while since I checked the website and I'm glad that I was able to read a lot of good news. Every morning after meditation Jessica's face jumps into my mind and I send her my prayers. Intuitively, I knew she was doing fine but I also wanted to see it in writing and I told myself that I would check the website when I got to work, so today I finally did. I hope to see you again soon, perhaps by chance, when we bike to Rancho San Antonio park. Our continued prayers and thoughts are with Jessica and the entire family.

So glad to hear that things have been going well for Jess and Graham over the past couple of weeks and that family life is resuming into a routine again. Can't believe Ben is going into first grade already; I remember so clearly visiting you the week he was born! It was good to read your most recent update and, barring your poor, painful tooth, I'm so glad to hear that everyone is doing so well. I was very sorry to hear about Jess being in such pain that night, but since then it seems as though her improvement continues to be really positive. Hello to you all
We have just recently returned from an extended holiday in Australia and have been bringing ourselves up to date through your journal. You are all amazing the way you are coping with the highs and lows since the transplant and you Jo must be finding it so difficult as you cannot split yourself three ways which I'm sure is what you really wish you could do. Graham, whilst I'm sure every parent would always do whatever they could for their children, other than everyday caring and support, not many of us are called on further. For you to do what you have for Jessica is so completely selfless and I so hope your recovery is as swift as it can be. As for Ben, from what you write, he is being so grown up about everything and he is a credit you and as for Jessica herself, it is unbelievable what she is having to go through and she is so brave. I know nothing can be rushed but we will keep absolutely everything crossed hoping for continued good news. Jo, take good care of yourself as they all need you. I know there is nothing tangible we can do from here but all our thoughts and hopes are with the four of you.
All our love

Dearest Jo,
I was so gladdened to read your last message and hear that Jess is doing so much better and that you feel more positive. What an amazing little girl she is. Try to get a bit more sleep now if you can, Jo. I will be thinking of you all every day. I'm away for a bit, so please don't think I've disappeared – I'll check your messages. Send my love to Graham, who I hope is feeling a little stronger.
Lots of love as always,

Dear Joanna,
We are so sorry things have been so rough for Jessica! We have to believe that once the right combination of immunosuppressants is found she will get over this rejection episode and start to enjoy the gift of the healthy liver from Graham. We can't imagine how difficult this is for you and your family. You are the best mother Jessica could ever have and your strength and love are going to get her through this. You are all in our prayers.

Have been thinking about your for some time. My Ben also wants to send his best wishes. This weekend my dad gave me a piggy bank that I had made for my mom (now deceased) in grade school. It weighed 35#, filled mostly with pennies. We took it to Safeway to cash in the contents and I told Ben this would be the seed money for his allowance fund. I told him that we would divide it into three pots- one for spending, one for saving and one for sharing. He volunteered that the shared amount could be donated to Ben Allen's sister to help pay for her medicines. If you need pennies or anything else, please do not hesitate to ask.

Hello again....Jo, you are a superstar - you have all my admiration. Fabulous that Graham is home, that's so quick! Hope he continues to make a speedy recovery. Jessica is a real fighter isn't she, as she always has been. Hope things continue to settle down for her. Special kiss to Ben, I often think of him and his 'farm' in the garden with crocodiles (but only small ones). Thinking of you as ever...I saw Daniele yesterday who sends much love.

I am so pleased to read your message. As I was walking back from school today, out time 9.15am, I was wondering what was happening. It would have been the middle of the night and I was wondering if you, Joanna, were awake or asleep, or which member of your family in hospital you were with. I had to wait while Dad had a life-saving op, and then see him in ITU afterwards; and the scale of what you're experiencing is much greater so I can only imagine what it's like. A small package is on its way, I've been trying to think of something sendable to distract Graham and if I get any bright ideas I'll send it too. I know your parents will be looking after you. Please try and look after yourself. We'll be waiting for any news.Of course, we send all the love we can. As ever, we wish we were there.
Lots of Love Katharine, Jonathan, Alistair and Elliot
