My son, Mike Kaminski, was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer with mets to the liver and bile ducts in September of 2018. He was 43 years old and had a 6 year old son, Henry and a 3 year old daughter, Dagny. Our family was devastated with this heart-breaking news. Mike was given 6 months to live. Mike has 3 sisters and 1 brother. He started receiving treatment at the UW Carbone Cancer Center in Madison, WI and continued treatment for 8 months. We immediately started a CaringBridge page for Mike as we were not able to talk with everyone directly as it was too painful and changes occurred daily. Our family continued to update family and friends using CaringBridge as it was a direct connection to keep everyone updated. It was also a great way for our extended family and friends to support us. We are so grateful for so many kind and caring messages. Mike fought a courageous battle and never once complained. Instead, his sense of humor kept us all encouraged... he even remembered to thank each doctor and nurse who treated him and thanked them each by name. Mike entered JourneyCare Hospice and spent 7 days in the hospice care center surrounded day and night by family and passed on the morning of May 12, 2019, eight months after his diagnosis. We miss him everyday!

CaringBridge has allowed me to continue writing to Mike once a month since he has passed with a tribute of 25,000+ visits to his site. It is a beautiful way to stay connected to his memory and help others to heal along with our family. We all miss him terribly. We are proud to have 29 contributions to CaringBridge in Mike's memory. Thank you, CaringBridge for providing our family this service to share our story as we continue to surround Mike with love. Blessings to all of you at CaringBridge.
