In November 2013, I came home from work to find my wife Carol lying on the bathroom floor...she was lying there at least 8 hrs...no one knows for sure. The whole right side of her body was effected.... in addition she was unable to speak, though she could understand what was being said. In a little over 2 months of inpatient therapy she was able to climb steps, and speak 3 to 4 word sentences....and to come home to a 2 story house.

At the time I was still working full time in manufacturing and she would get up when I did so that I could help her get washed and dressed and help her get down stairs. A couple Ladies from church stayed with her in the mornings ...I worked 8 hrs in the morning and was with her the rest of the day. We also had Senior Helpers coming in about 20 hrs a week to help with... whatever. eventually they left and Carol was home alone when I was at work...with her Alert 1 button...she loved her time alone
In April 2020 I retired from full time work...(I still work about 2 days a week) ....in order to better care for Carol and to lessen the stress on myself....This past December we moved to a one floor house.
When Carol had her stroke I learned what serving my wife is supposed to look like....have given up many things ...whatever will help her and wouldn't trade this life for the world....though I am still very much an amateur and find myself at a loss as to what to do... as well as getting it all wrong more times than I like to admit.
For both Carol and I, our hope for this life as well as for eternity is in Jesus....His dying for our sins and His love for us.... and that has made all the difference in our lives especially since November 2013.
