Journal entry by Barbie Bonnema —
Happy rainy Monday. It's been a rollercoaster of a week. I'm currently waiting for Zack to get out of an MRI scan for his liver. We don't entirely know what's going on so this is more of a precautionary scan than anything.
Things have progressively gotten harder with this last round. Zack's neuropathy unfortunately has gotten pretty severe. If anyone has any tips, please feel free to share as it's been one of the toughest side effects to swallow. Tomorrow he goes in for a blood panel to monitor what his body is doing 1 week post chemo.
Overall, we both are mentally exhausted. Well I guess physically too but that's a given with two wild boys at home. With all of that being said, we are SO thankful for our village being all of you. I finally broke and asked for help last week and within two hours, there were a fleet of helpers at our house making our yard the prettiest it's been in a while.
Words will never ever be able to explain our gratitude. Between the endless community support and our own personal village, thank you. Thank you for words of encouragement (even when we don't respond), thank you for the hugs, the shoulders to cry on, the help and everything in-between. We know the end is near but we are tired. We feel the dark clouds more than we did 5 months ago but you all truly keep us going. Thank you ❤️💙
