Journal entry by Nikki Sonnek

It's so incredible to see how strong Zachary has been doing post surgery "this time" vs. last October. We couldn't be happier to see Zachary thriving and going about life with so much energy and tenacity. Back to school every day and wanting to be part of everything. The simplicity of watching him play and taking part in things couldn't bring Joe and I more joy.

While Zachary is so strong he is also dealing with a great deal of fatigue and mental/emotional healing. He can be thriving so well, but his brain is going to need time to keep healing to allow his superhero body to keep up. One minute he can be acting normal and the next just so exhausted and needs to nap. We continue to be so proud of him,  all he has been through and the challenges he faces on the daily. He continues to keep one foot forward each step of the way....and most of the time leading us and show us the way. He is my hero. It's hard to pull him back from time to time, but I am so beyond proud of him.

Zachary's medical journey has been far more than any parent should experience.  But we are so proud to celebrate his 1 year anniversary of ringing the bell of kicking Radiations butt! We are praying that Mr T (tumor), seizures, surgeries, and this complicated medical journey slows down and he can speed back up to be his energetic self and crushing all he thrives for: Running, Hockey, Baseball, Golf, Biking, and being a young wild and crazy boy with friends. He also needs to mentally heal from all this and that will be a life long journey on its own. But, we will continue to keep celebrating him and praying God continues to hears our prayers. And in the meantime, "Thank you God for keeping our boy safe and thriving through each mile marker along the way."

Thank you all for the support and keeping us going.

Love always,
Joe, Nikki, Carson and ZACHARY
