Susie and Ron’s Story

Site created on January 24, 2020

Welcome to our CaringBridge website. Our Kidney Adventure takes us to the world-famous Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, and their top-ranked kidney transplant program. We love their encouragement for pre-emptive transplant to avoid dialysis. Since we share the same blood type, we had hoped Ron could donate one of his juicy kidneys directly to Susie, but alas, our antibodies don’t match. When told that our romantic idea would not fly, Susie quipped to the nephrologist: “Well, he wanted to give me his kidney...but he already gave me his heart!”

We enrolled in the Paired Kidney Donation program and look forward to Susie’s transplant and Ron’s “living donation.”

Thanks for checking in! We’ll keep you posted!

WE ARE HOME!

The eagle sent by our anonymous generous phenomenal spectacular ANGELS brought us home in style! What an incredible end to our journey...43,000 feet, in a Gulfstream 450, 3 hours and 20 minutes. No airports. no connecting flights...just a safe and wonderful way to come home. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

Havi even drove up to the plane to greet us! Wow! Susie and Havi were masked up to the 9’s, both quarantined for 14 days, and they hugged forever....sobbing tears of joy!

And then after moving into our lovely apartment at AJU, we were able to see our masked and quarantined grandchildren Ellie and Gabe...all of us excited to be together with Mommy Havi and Daddy Dave, masked and distancing while eating in our Encino bubble backyard!

There are no adequate words to thank all of you for lifting our spirits by visiting this website more than 22,000 times over these past seven and a half months. We are so grateful to everyone who made the Wolfson Kidney Adventure the experience of a lifetime!

We are signing off now by wishing all a happy, healthy, safe and sweet New Year...but you are always welcome to check in with us at susiewolfson@gmail.com and ronwolfson1234@gmail.com.

And now that you’ve watched the “movie” of our experience, watch for the book version - “A Tale of Two Kidneys!” Although it seems like we are living through the “worst” of times, all of you, dearest family and friends, have made this “the best of times” for us.

God bless you! And thank you...from the bottom of our ♥️s. ..And kidneys!
