Will went into cardiac arrest at 8pm on Wednesday night, January 30th. His wife, Lucy, immediately responded to his distress and performed CPR until the paramedics arrived. He was rushed to the hospital and placed in a medically induced coma in ICU. During this time, his heart stopped several times.
Will is currently stabilized and still in a coma, but there are no clear answers as to what caused this issue. At this time, he is undergoing a procedure in which his body is cooled for 24 hours and then reheated to promote healing. After this, he will be woken from the coma. We do not know what his condition will be at that time. We do know that there will be more testing once he is woken from the coma to try and find out what caused this. We are told he will be in the hospital at least a few weeks.
We will continue to post updates as we can. Will's family is overwhelmed by the outpouring of love and support. Please know that you prayers and encouragement are so necessary and helpful to everyone.
Will is 24 years old. He has a wife (Lucy) and 4 month old daughter (Ophelia) at home. He teaches 3rd and 4th grade Language Arts and Social Studies at a charter school in Winnsboro, SC. Will is a loving and caring husband, son, brother, and friend to many. Please join us in praying for Will and his family, for a full and complete recovery, for peace, and for comfort.
