Will you may not remember me but you used to live near us and play with our grandson, Liam. Lee Ashley was in a very serious car crash not long after her senior year of high school and almost lost her life. Everything on her left side was broken. She almost died and I suspect her car looked a lot like yours. She was driving and her friend with her was killed. Unfortunately there were no airbags then and her friend refused to wear a seatbelt...Lee Ashley had hers on. Her recuperation was not only physical but emotional for all of us. She like you had to live in our basement. We have no entry to our house in a wheel chair other than our basement door. Once she was up on crutches one of our neighbors came and drove her to the park down at Cowper. They then walked around the park so she could get her exercise and I could take a break. She was not able to go to college until January but by following doctor’s orders and working out constantly she went to Duke on a cane and not crutches...she was so determined. Lee Ashley is now a healthy mother of Liam who is still exercising every day. She is beginning to have some knee trouble but it doesn’t stop her from taking 2 mile hikes frequently. As her mother and now a grandmother, I am so thankful for her determination and willingness to follow her doctors’ orders. I know what you are facing is no fun but if you will follow the doctors’ orders you will be glad and will get well sooner. Every setback makes recuperation longer. Take care of your parents (because they are hurting for you) and yourself. We all hope to see you jogging to Cowper one day. Mrs. Jernigan (ginger) God Bless you all.
