Journal entry by Emily Scofield

A celebration of the life of William"Bill" K. Skaer will be held on Saturday July 17 @ Noon on the lookout point on the Texas side of Toldeo Bend Lake.  Bill passed from this earth January 31, 2021 at the Woodland Heights Medical Center in Lufkin Texas.  Following a short service a memorial ride will be led by the Newton Chapter of the Hell's Egos Motorcycle Club.  Guests are invited to the Skaer home on the lake for a gathering of friends and family.
William was born in Kansas City, Missouri in 1950 and was a graduate of Shawnee Mission East High School.  He was an extremely proud veteran on the U.S.Army serving in South Korea and Vietnam.  Bill retired from civilian work at Ft.Polk in 2012.  He spent the last 23 years living lakeside on the Texas side of Toledo Bend.  He was married to his soulmate Emily Karon McGlothlin of Burkeville, TX since 1998.
William is survived by Karon and two step-children Gavin McDonald(Alexis) of St. Petersburg, Florida and Emily Scofield(Ryan) of Baton Rouge, LA.  He is also survived by sisters Martha Wright and Diane Strunk (Tom), both of Overland Park, Kansas, son George Skaer, daughters Christina Holloway and Gina Huffman all of Louisville, Kentucky and daughter Charity Nolan of Indianapolis, Indiana, as well as twelve grand-children, two great grand-children and a host of nieces and nephews.
William loved living on the lake so this ceremony will feature the land that was near and dear to his heart.  In lieu of flowers a donation is suggested to the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall @vvmf.org.
Please consider this your invitation to pay your last respects to William K Skaer.
