Wendy’s Story

Site created on November 26, 2018

Yes, it's true. On 11/21/2018 I was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, the adenocarcinoma type. But I'm very hopeful because I have many positive factors on my side:

1) the tumor is small and resectable (easy to remove)
2) there is no evidence that the cancer has spread
3) I have a team of amazing, experienced doctors at one of the top hospitals in the country for pancreatic care, Mass General Hospital
4) doctors and researchers have made good progress in treating pancreatic cancer, even in the last few years
5) I have so many family members and friends, near and far, praying for and supporting me

MGH has had much better results for my type of tumor when they do chemo and radiation before surgery, rather than surgery first, so that is my treatment plan. I will have eight 2 week cycles of chemotherapy, starting in December 2018, then 1-6 weeks of radiation, then the Whipple procedure for my surgery.

We appreciate your words of encouragement and any help you can give our family on this journey.
