We got a very important phone call today from the U of M.  They have over 50 people that match with Wayne’s dna/blood/genes.... ???? Whatever it is!!!  They will contact the best candidates and find out if they are still willing and able to donated..  it will take til probably around the end of February. It was a GREAT DAY!!

We got great news this week!! Wayne’s lung & heart test passed the criteria so he was put on the transplant donor list.  He started his 3rd round of IV chemo on Thursday for 5 days and back on the chemo pill but 4 pills a day instead of 1. A much higher dose.  If a donor is found right away this will be his last round of chemo.  They are just keeping his body clean of cancer.  It has been the best week ever!! 

Good Morning!!  I have great news to report.  Wayne is in remission.  We found out on Thursday that there’s no more cancer in his bone marrow from the biopsy that was performed last Tuesday.  He went from having 30% cancer cells to 0.  The doctor took him off all chemo for 2 weeks to see how his body reacts and if it will rebuild his red and white blood cells. In 2 weeks he will start chemo again and do 2 more rounds of it and if his lung test comes back good the doctor at the U of M says he will be a candidate for a bone marrow transplant. 

Well it’s been a while since I have posted, as it’s been a roller coaster ride.  Wayne has gone thru 2 rounds of Iv chemo and continues on his chemo pill. He had another bone marrow biopsy and once again they didn’t get a great sample but from what they did get was impressive and destructive at the same time.  The doctor said he went from having 30% cancer cells to .2%.  But in the same breath says... but it wasn’t a real good sample so we can’t be sure if it’s accurate.  Wayne meets with the U of M on a virtual visit on January 4th to discuss bone marrow transplant.  Then on January 5th has another bone marrow biopsy scheduled and we will get the results on the 7th.  They are finally going to put him under so they can get a good quality sample. If the results are good we will plan for a transplant in a couple months. He has to do 2 more rounds of Iv chemo first which he will start on January 7th.  He hasn’t gotten physically sick from the chemo and I’m so thankful for that.  He gets blood transfusions about every 2 weeks and they are giving him 2 units of blood now so it makes him stronger and has actually gained some weight back. He only has 1//2 the amount of blood in his body compared to a normal man so he can’t do a lot and he gets depressed.  But i assured him that he could do the dishes now.....  😂 We take it day by day and pray for a better 2021.  Please keep Wayne in your prayers.  Love to all. Wayne had a doctor appointment on Friday after his blood draw and she said things were moving along the way they should be.  He has no immune system left and his platelets dropped from 45 on Monday to 17 on Friday.  It’s expected, but he will get blood/platelets on Monday.  All in all he is doing really well.  He hasn’t been throw up sick just some stomach issues for about a week but that is better now.  His appetite is coming back but he’s still losing weight.  They monitor him closely and that makes me feel better.  He starts his second round of IV chemo on December 4th but he stays on a chemo pill all the time. His treatments are in/outpatient which is awesome cause going to the hospital is scary enough right now.  Happy Sunday 💜💜💜

Well today is the last day of IV chemo.  He continues to take a chemo pill for the next 18 days and then will start a 5 day regimen of IV chemo again.  All in all he has been doing good.  He has been dealing with some heartburn & stomach bloating but that has really been his only sickness. They put him on some medicine for that and his appetite is returning. The doctor said the next 10-14 days will be the worst, so we are preparing.. 

Sorry I haven’t posted. Things are going good. We meet with the doctor tomorrow.  I will post all the updates then. Just a little tired. Thank you everyone. 

Well another long day.  We had to be here at 10:45 for another bag of blood and then his chemo appt at 2pm. He is getting the chemo as I type. We will be here for at least another hour but good thing is his blood pressure is back up and his hemoglobin is at 9.  It of course won’t stay that way for long but he feels good and his appetite is still good.  Thanks everyone for your support and prayers.  1 day at a time.
