Walton’s Story

Site created on March 4, 2021

Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.

Walton Joseph Russell was born to Maycee and Bolton Russell on February 7, 2021 at 36 weeks and 4 days. He weighed in at 5 lbs 14 oz and 20 inches. Walt was born with Long Gap Esophageal Atresia (LGEA) which is a gap between two esophagus pieces, preventing food from passing to the stomach.

We will post updates as Walt works towards his connection surgery. We will be traveling to Boston on March 15th to begin receiving care by Boston Children's Hospital Esophageal and Treatment Airway Center.

Thank you for all of your support, thoughts, and prayers,

Journal entry by Maycee Russell

Long time no see on here.

I post regular updates on our Facebook page “Walking with Walt”.

Long story short, we have been home since July 22! We went back to Boston for a quick EGD in mid August that went great!

Walt is thriving. We are slowly working on oral feeds and refining his tube feedings. He loves being home just as much as we do!

Here’s a picture of him today after getting his glasses! ♥️
