Newest Update

Journal entry by Andrew Sprouse

So it's been a big day for Mom & Dad -- and not just because Mom was discharged home and is back in Asheboro after 35 days in the hospital!!   She was also given wonderful news at her ortho appointment today that her ankles are healing well and she wouldn't need to be in a cast or a splint!!  She's in support boots, similar to what she's had with prior surgeries, but also had all of her stitches removed.  Combined with her getting claps from the entire rehab gym, ringing the bell, and good news from the ortho doctors, it's been a day of accomplishments for her.

I got her safe and sound back home, after an obligatory stop at Chic-fil-a for the ride home.  No more hospital food for hopefully a long time!!!  Again, thank all of you who have sent meals or brought things by for them.  It is very much appreciated and given the four of us (me, Sam, Patty, & Anne Nicole) some peace of mind that we weren't having to worry about food for Dad prior to getting Mom home.

Just a reminder that here's the link for bringing meals to them.  I think we have Thursday the 26th covered.  I'm teaching Dad some simple dishes that he can cook for them while Mom continues to heal.  https://www.takethemameal.com/YOGA6629.

The next couple of days will be filled with meetings with home health nurses, PT/OT nurses, primary care and specialty docs appointments, and just getting them settled back in their space together.  I know that they, especially Mom, are eager to visit with folks and should be available to start a few daily visits this weekend.  Please contact their cell phones directly to check and see when might be a good time for y'all to visit or call.

Thank y'all so much again for all the prayers of love, support, and healing.  They have been heard and felt -- and mean more to all of us than you'll ever know!
