I knew Vonda back in the days of early Norwescons, when we were both young and starting out. I love her books and am so sorry I lost touch with her. Good bye, Vonda, I'll treasure the memories of you.

What a loss to the writing community! Condolences to her family, friends, and those whose lives she touched with her writing. Her Star Trek books are among my favorites.

I am totally gutted by this, because it happened much sooner than I expected. We were only communicating online a few days ago. I was very fortunate to have met Vonda over 25 years ago, and for her to become a friend and mentor. Sometimes, we're lucky enough to actually meet our idols, then find out that they're good people, and then be blessed with them deciding that we're worth the effort. Too often, we're unfortunate enough to learn that the universe is a random and senseless place -- snatching away the good and talented too early, while often letting the evil live forever.

It was a fun ride, Ms. V., and I have many fond memories. In a lot of ways, you were definitely a mother figure when it came to my creativity, and you always accepted me for exactly who I am. Still... too soon, too soon, way way way too soon.

My condolences to all of Vonda's family and friends. Her writing mattered to me for decades, and then her beaded jellies for the crochet coral reef brought us together personally. May her whimsical and gorgeous beaded critters strengthen Vonda's world in the rich multispecies complexities that sustained her for such a rich and generous life.

Thank you Vonda for all the wonderful stories you gave us. When we met at Norwescon back in the 80s, I knew I had a great friend. We lost contact till Worldcon in Spokane.. And when we met up again.. It was like yesterday that we saw each other.
You will be missed but you will always be with us as you left a mark in each and every one of us who had the pleasure of knowing you.
Rest sweet Vonda.

Thank you for your writing. I very much enjoyed it and it will endure--as a piece of you will as well with it forever.

I am glad that she left us without lingering in pain, the kind of punishment that cancer often inflicts on those it takes. I am glad she had friends around her to ease the passing. I was braced for this. But oh, it feels like someone just blew a candle out and it's dark outside.
