Violet’s Story

Site created on December 19, 2018

As many of you know, on Friday morning, our sweet Violet Jane was rushed to Arkansas Children’s Hospital. After attempts to wake her up that morning, we knew something was wrong and called 911. The paramedics thought it was a febrile seizure, but shortly after we got to the ER, they discovered it was a massive brain bleed and within the hour she was having emergency brain surgery. The surgery stopped the bleeding, but she is still in critical condition. The upcoming days and weeks will reveal more about what happened and where we go from here. While we wait, we are asking for your prayers. We know that this is no surprise to our good God, and that He loves our girl more than we ever could. But we also know He is a God of miracles and that He hears the cries of His people. We are praying for complete healing and restoration for our Violet, and that He would give the doctors and nurses wisdom in every decision they make. We are so very thankful for the incredible team of doctors, nurses, and staff members at ACH that have taken such amazing care of our family. We know there are hundreds of friends and family out there praying and so many of you have brought food, come to visit, sent messages and helped care for Beau & Tess. We could never put into words how much we covet your prayers and support.

Newest Update

Journal entry by Drew Holbert

Quick update: She made it out of surgery and is doing wonderfully! They were able to extubate her immediately this time so she got to avoid the ICU! Was in a pretty good amount of pain early but doing great and hasn’t had any more pain meds for several hours. She’s been awake some and definitely did not lose her appetite - has had pasta, vegetables, entire banana, half of a fig Newton and finished off a nutrigrain bar (her favorite). Even got her picture taken with Belle, Cinderella and another princess I’m not familiar with. Sleeping comfortably now (with mama in crib).  Depending on how well she does through the night it’s possible we go home tomorrow.  Thanking Him for continuing to watch over and protect our girl and thankful for all of you for your continued prayers - we are so very grateful!
