Vince’s Story

Site created on June 4, 2019

Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Vince was diagnosed with a 4cmx5cm macroadenoma pituitary tumor.  The tumor is on his optic nerve and his right and left carotid arteries which is affecting his vision and hormones. His tumor cannot be treated with medication and needs to be surgically removed. We have scheduled appointments with an endocrinologist and a neurosurgeon at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota on Monday, July 8th.

Journal entry by Robin Villa

Vince was discharged from the hospital about noon today! He is doing very well! He napped and walked the hotal hallways this afternoon. His appetite has returned and for dinner he asked for a burger. Today is our 9th wedding anniversary and we are fulfilling our vows "in sickness and in health"!!!

He has appointments this week and a final 1 week post OP appointment next Tuesday afternoon. His pituitary tumor diagnosis is a condition which will require continued care for his lifetime. We know we are in good hands at Mayo! We will head home Wednesday morning.

His vision is not worse but it also has not yet improved.  We are still hopeful for some improvement but it is possible his vision loss will be permanent. He does this his sensitivity to light is much improved. He will have an MRI and vision field test in 3 months.

The kids are in heaven and Brenda is now "Meemaw". She has had crafts on the table waiting for them each day after day camp! They are enjoying time together and we are so grateful to my Aunt Brenda and to her family!

Thanks to all. God willing this is my last post.
