Journal entry by Victoria Mason —
One of the main side effects I’ll be facing is of course the dreaded hair loss. I have decided being my hair is chemical free of hair dye, bleach, etc and at a great length that once it begins to fall out I’ll be cutting it to donate (not sure to what organization yet and any ideas are welcomed) This will be the toughest struggle for myself. That being said, after talking to some of my family and friends an idea has come to mind...
After so many people asking me “What can I do for you?” “What do you need?” “How can I help?”
Here’s how: I’m going to need head wear. Hats, caps, scarfs anything that can cover my head. I’m going to ask that they are new as when I’m done using them and my hair grows back to a length I’m confident in, I will be donating them all back to other cancer patients. I am also asking that you send a note or card along with the head wear that will give me a pick me up, a joke to make me laugh or an encouraging word to get me through the tough days. I will be setting up a post office box here in Wilmington for everything to be sent to. I will add the address by next Friday March 30.
Cancer affects not only the patient but everyone around that patient as well. I may have days that I’m ok talking to you about everything and then days where I ask to talk about anything else. Please pray for me, my family and my friends. My God and My Team are stronger than any amount of cancer. And I know that the most important things in life aren’t my looks or material things but the Amazingly loving people I have in my life! I thank you for anything sent, thinking of me, or praying for me!
