Vickie’s Story

Site created on January 17, 2021

Hello all! Welcome to Vickie’s CaringBridge page! We greatly appreciate everyone’s prayer’s, love and support through this fight!

Vickie was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma, a type of blood cancer, in August 2020. She had previously been dealing with some minor health issues that caused her to seek a proper diagnosis and treatment. Throughout her search, she had certain basic tests done that showed she was in excellent shape!

Her doctors were always impressed with her overall health and stamina! Vickie has always been health conscious and very active throughout her life, so this diagnosis was quite a shock to us all.

In the last few years she has become quite the avid Pickle Ball player and still loves to go on nature walks with Roger!

Thankfully, during one her her tests, a very thorough doctor did a blood test “just to check” since she was still having some issues. The doctor was not concerned in the least of a cancer diagnosis (again due to Vickies good health) however, the news we received was not what we hoped for. She had Stage 1 Multiple Myeloma.

She was connected with a Myeloma specialist right away and has been using every resource available to her ever since!

Her Myeloma doctor said that because it was caught early (many thanks again, to that smart and thorough doctor) Vickie has a very good prognosis. Although we know nothing is guaranteed in these situations, we are extremely hopeful she will get through this with flying colors! We are confident in her doctors and in Vickie’s determination to get and stay well!

Again, thank you for all your love and support. It means the world to know she has people she loves and that love her, in her corner! We Love you all!

Love,
Hallie (Vickie’s youngest daughter)

Journal entry by Roger Thoma

For those of you still out there thinking about Vickie, we just saw her oncologist and all her numbers are good. Immunity is normal, cancer numbers dropped again, and all else is in the normal range. She has a very good outlook.
