Journal entry by J Michael Sponsler

This has been one of the most emotional days of my life.. We are at Mayo's and this is my post 100 day checkup since my transplant. Blood work first thing, then a Pet Scan and then some coffee and bagels. Then an appointment to learn about the immunizations I have to get within the next 6-8 months, ugh. Then met with my Primary Doctor that led the Stem Cell Transplant Team. Wow, such a blessing to hear the results. Blood work was great and she showed us how my white blood cells and platelets are both doing well and are back in the normal ranges. All other major organs are working as they should. Then she pulled up the Pet Scan and compared it to previous Pet Scans including the Scan that showed my Cancer. Today's Pet Scan was completely clear, NO CANCER to be found!! Immediate tears, but tears of joy and thankfulness. God's healing power and love so evident and just overwhelms me. I'm still emotional and soo thankful to the Mayo's Stem Cell Transplant Team and all of Dr. Micallef's staff and Team. To my loving wife Kathy, who was by my side the entire time, Gina and Paul, Amy and Tom, always checking on us. First Baptist Church of Aledo, Pastor Luke and staff and all the prayer warriors there for support, kind words, cards and food. Soo many more to thank but for now, I'm just burnt out from this day. Walked in for blood work not knowing what the day was going to be but just all day said God, you got this. And yes he did. So much more to say but not now.. Thanks to all that have been following me/us on this journey thru Caring Bridges. I'll do another post in a few days after I get home and my emotions back to normal. Love you all and God bless you all.. And the picture is our celebration dinner this early evening at the Crave..
