Adam’s Story

Site created on April 25, 2023

Family and friends of Adam,

Please feel free to use this website for any updates and prayer requests during Adam’s recovery journey. He has the biggest army behind him and we love you all! 🧡

In January, Adam had his first ever seizure. He was treated outpatient and was released after the scans, MRI, and tests returned clear. He did indicate a virus and had minimal fluid in one lung, which cleared with antibiotics. Fast forward to April 21, Adam started seizing behind a locked bathroom door. Thankfully Karri heard him begin to seize, fall and hit his head on the sink. He was up against the door, and she couldn’t get it opened. She responded by calling 911 immediately. The head bump was not the issue, however. They couldn’t get the seizures to stop. Adam has been in a medically-induced coma since the 21st. His brain has swelling all around which is most indicative of lack of oxygen to his brain during the initial insult. Adam has been fighting pneumonia and each day we are just praying for signs of improvements. Signs that show neurological improvement. Prayers for Adam to wake up. Prayers that even though the tests show a lot of damage, that God will reverse this damage and restore Adams brain and bring him back to us.

Please continue to follow this page for updates on our Adam 🧡

**SIDE NOTE ABOUT DONATIONS** - please make donations through Adam’s GoFundMe site linked. Making donations through “Caring Bridge” does not go to the family, it goes to keeping this site up and running.

Journal entry by Emily Gohdes —

Hi friends! It’s been a while, but first off, we wanted to thank so many of you for filling our church a few weeks ago to honor and remember Adam at his Celebration of Life. We love and cherish each and every one of you.

Now I’m excited to share something that has been in the works for a little while!

It's no secret that Adam loved his time at Westminster College.  After graduation, he worked in the Admissions office, enthusiastically recruiting the next generation of Westminster students.  In considering how we wanted to honor him, we decided to establish a scholarship at Westminster in Adam's name.  Please consider donating to this scholarship to help us share his light and carry on his legacy with deserving students so they can enjoy Westminster too.

To donate, visit bit.ly/AdamMalletteFund.  In the "Designation" field, change the selection to the Adam Mallette '11 Memorial Fund.

Thank you for your support, and thank you so much, Kathryn Ayers for helping jumpstart this idea!
