Journal entry by Niles Charlet

One month ago today. . .a message from Tyler’s mom
One month ago today my heart was literally busting out of my chest with grief. I thought we were losing him. My middle son, my ginger, my pride and joy. Sure he’s 30 years old but that isn’t enough time with him. “God”, I loudly cried, “please don’t take him away from me!” I prayed this over and over again. His heart was failing, his kidneys were shutting down, his lungs wouldn’t work on their own, and his temperature was 106!  And no one knew why. It would take a miracle straight from the hand of God almighty to keep this child of mine alive. At this very moment, nothing else mattered!  No money no job no earthly possessions would comfort or take the place of this very loved son, husband, daddy, grandson and nephew.  Fast forward to April 1. Exactly one month since that gut wrenching morning of March 1.  As of today, Tyler is no longer on a ventilator, he no longer requires physical or occupational therapy or rehab. He, despite a projected 3 more months of dialysis, no longer has to have dialysis and has a date next week (Monday April 5) to get his port for dialysis removed. He has many doctor appointments still ahead with nephrologist, cardiologist and pulmonologist doctors.
Tyler has a while yet before he’s back 100%. He’s still weak and tired but gaining strength daily and it will be quite a while before he can return to work. Even though he still has a long recovery ahead I can only praise God for such a miraculous recovery in such a short period of time. We are blessed beyond measure to have such an out pouring of love, prayers, support and donations from so many friends and family.
So here we sit together today, one month later, spending the afternoon together enjoying and loving life! So grateful for this time we still have!
