Tyler’s Story

Site created on October 9, 2018

Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.
Tyler was assaulted and robbed September 2018. The day after the assault we soon knew Tyler was in need of medical attention, he was brought to Hudson Hospital and was rushed to Regions hospital by ambulance for which a CT scan in Hudson showed a possible brain bleed or tumor. Once he  arrived at Regions Hospital they did MRI's of his neck, back, and brain and confirmed what they found was a brain tumor on the back of his brain that was pushing on his spinal cord at times. NOT related in any way to the trauma of the assault. He also has a traumatic brain injury from the assault. which is being treated at the Neuo Science Center in St Paul. Within a week we met with a Neuro surgeon and trauma surgeon at  Regions to go over what to do with the brain tumor, we were told quickly that the tumor was  1.8cm and needed to be removed asap, but first needed to recover from the brain injury and have more MRI's of the chest, neck, back, and brain to make sure no lesions had kicked off the tumor .
Brain surgery is scheduled for October 18th at Regions Hospital. It's a lengthy complicated surgery and he will be in the hospital at least 5-7 days. The surgeon has left Tyler and I with a sense of confidence and hope that everything will go as planned without complications, but there are always risks.  We ask for prayers, positive thoughts, and hope that his surgery goes well and that the 12 week recovery goes well also.
I will continue to update here.

Thank you and love you all!
