Journal entry by Jada Tjoelker —
Many have asked how Triston is doing. Well, it was a very long 2 months away from home for him and Jada. Most of the time was spent at Children’s for chemo, stem cell transplant and then recovery. It wasn’t fun for him. I’ll spare all the details of symptoms he incurred! However, he got through it. They have been home now for just over a week and we are all finally under the same roof as a family. Praise God!
As of now, everything looks good. He does weekly labs to check blood counts etc. Kidney numbers are a bit low from the process but I don’t think it’s a huge concern at this point. He did receive a prosthetic leg and is working on getting around with it, so that’s exciting! Sometime at the end of this month he’ll have scans to check for cancer. That is always stressful and we would welcome and appreciate continued prayers for peace and of course for the cancer to never return. It’s been a long, almost 2 year journey for our family, but we know that everything is in God’s hands and by his grace we will continue in the fight!
