Journal entry by Wyatt Poats

Hi friends and family!  Tripp has had a great summer.  We went to the Outer Banks with the Poats family in June and have visited Richmond and Lynchburg.  Other than seeing family, we have kept a pretty low profile.  Tripp has seen more friends over the past three weeks or so.  It’s been really nice to see him warm back up around his peers and just be himself.

Since the City schools went virtual for at least the first 9 weeks, we have enrolled Tripp in a nearby preschool.  His first day was Tuesday and he has been loving it!  There are a lot of familiar faces at the school with him. Henley and Christie are back in school as of last week.  We are all adjusting to the new schedules.

We celebrated Tripp’s 4th birthday on June 15th!  🎂

Tripp’s check-ups have all gone well.  He had a small delay on chemo pills (one week) back in June due to low counts.   He had IV chemo and a lumbar puncture as well as a five-day burst of steroids towards the beginning of August. He will go in every month for at least bloodwork   Chemo pills are taken at home daily, coupled with antibiotics over the weekend   He has a lumbar puncture in September and then he should have a break from those for a period of time.

All is going well and we feel very lucky to be at this point.  We hope that you and your families continue to be safe and healthy!
