TRAVIS’s Story

Site created on January 9, 2020

ON OCTOBER 14TH 2019 WHILE TRAVIS WAS WORKING AT THE ST CLOUD HOSPITAL HE HAD A SEIZURE. TRAVIS' WORK MATES FOUND HIM ON THE FLOOR. THEY GOT HIM UP AND ASKED HIM A FEW QUESTIONS. TRAVIS' ANSWERS WERE NOT MAKING SENSE. HIS WORK MATES WALKED HIM DOWN TO THE ER. THE DOCTORS PERFORMED A CT SCAN AND AN MRI ON HIS HEAD . IT WAS DETERMINED AT THAT POINT THAT THERE WERE TWO AREA'S OF CONCERN IN HIS BRAIN. TRAVIS SPENT A NUMBER OF DAYS IN THE HOSPITAL THEN WAS RELEASED. TRAVIS TRIED TO GO BACK TO WORK BUT ONLY MADE IT A FEW DAYS BEFORE THE SAME SCENARIO HAPPENED; WORKING AT THE ST CLOUD HOSPITAL-WASN'T MAKING SENSE - BACK DOWN TO ER AND THEN A FEW MORE DAYS AS AN INPATIENT. WITH THE HELP OF SOME OF TRAVIS' FRIENDS AND HIS MOTHER AND HIS AUNT JEANNE-THEY WERE ABLE TO GET TRAVIS TRANSFERED TO THE MAYO CLINIC. I'M NOT GOING TO GO DAY BY DAY HERE BUT - TRAVIS RECORDS WERE TRANSFERED TO MAYA AND DOCTOR FRED MYER (SPELLING?) TOOK OVER ALONG WITH HIS TEAM. IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THERE WAS  A GLIOMA ON THE LEFT SIDE OF HIS BRAIN RIGHT ABOUT WHERE HIS LEFT EAR IS. DOCTOR MYER REMOVED THE TUMOR ON NOVEMBER 20, 2019. THAT WAS A WEDNESDAY. TRAVIS SPENT THE NEXT BIT IN RECOVERY, THEN ICU, THEN A REGULAR ROOM AND THEY SAID HE COULD GO HOME. ABOUT 50 HOURS POST-OP HE WAS HOME. AMAZING. TRAVIS HAD TO WAIT A WHILE BEFORE THE NEXT STEP IN THE PROCESS. WE WENT BACK AND FORTH FROM ST CLOUD TO MAYO FOR MORE TESTS AND GETTING FITTINGS FOR THE RADIATION. ON DECEMEBR 16TH TRAVIS STARTED HIS CHEMO AND RADIATION TREATMENTS. THE RADIATION TREATMENTS ONLY TAKE ABOUT 10 MINUTES AND THEY ARE PERFORMED EACH DAY FOR 30 DAYS-NO WEEKENDS SO TRAVIS IS HOME FOR THE WEEKENDS AND THEN BACK DOWN TO MAYO FOR A NEW WEEK OF TREATMENT. THESE TREATMENTS WILL GO ON TILL JANUARY 28, 2020. WE'LL HAVE TO WAIT TO SEE WHAT HAPPENS THEN. FOR NOW THAT'S ALL I HAVE.

Newest Update

Journal entry by Jeffrey Jennings

I didn't update last month (in July) after Travis did his 5-day chemo because it really went pretty smoothly.  Bloodwork showed platelets groing up which was very good news and all other numbers have stayed in the normal range throughout the chemo sessions.  Platelets were the only concern in bloodwork stats.

Travis and Sarah headed for the Mayo August 11 to do more bloodwork and an MRI.  Bloodwork all looked good including the platelets which went up again.  August 12 they had a meeting with the doctor to review the results of the MRI (always the stressful part).  MRI showed what they think is some fluid in the area of the surgery.  Doctor didn't seem real concerned but he is scheduling another MRI in two months instead of three to keep an eye on it.  The small spot center brain has not changed at all.

Travis will be starting his 6th month of chemo on the 20th (again the 5-day series of chemo pills).  I believe after that the next MRI will determine the next steps.

As always, we ask for your prayers to continue.  Our brave son continues to amaze us in every way.
