Journal entry by Kelly Vaughn —
Hi everyone!
Wanted to give an update, since it's been a while - and we actually have one!
We have a follow-up appointment with the regular Neurologist on December 1st to discuss maintenance and care for the next few months while we wait for the March appointment with the Specialist. Hopefully this Neurologist will have some helpful answers or suggestions on how to manage the day-to-day until we are able to get an official diagnosis. Fingers crossed!
We were also able to schedule the surgery to replace the missing piece of Mom's skull that had become infected following the first two surgeries. This will take place on December 16th up at OHSU - the plate is customized to Mom's skull and is made out of titanium mesh. Supposedly infection-resistant, so hopefully we won't have to deal with this again. And Mom can finally be free of that helmet that she loves so much! ;)
As always, thank you SO much for all of your help and generosity during this time. It's taken such a load off of our shoulders and we appreciate everything!!
