Tracy’s Story

Site created on February 20, 2021

As many of you know, our mom (Tracy) has a had a long journey with cancer. After being originally diagnosed in 2004, Mom has had a long battle with almost 600 treatments and many highs and lows.

The cancer is currently in her lungs, adrenal glands, bones, and liver. Her most recent scan showed that the cancer had doubled in almost every area that it is present. After all those treatments and years of fighting, the doctors have decided that it is time to stop the treatments.
We are using this site to keep family and friends updated in one place (and hopefully take the burden off Mom).

Over the years, we have felt so much love and support from each community we have been apart of. We appreciate your support and prayers.

(Also, I want to be clear that donating on CaringBridge goes to CaringBridge, not to our family. We appreciate the gesture and it is very kind of you, but I want to make sure everyone has a clear understanding of what the tribute is for. Thanks!)

Newest Update

Journal entry by Charis Happ

I've been meaning to post for a while and I apologize for the delay. I wanted to thank everyone for the support and love we have received over the past 6 months.

In June, we had a beautiful Celebration of Life for our mom in Syracuse, NY. We enjoyed hearing all the wonderful things that people had to say about our mom. Many people brought or sent in scrapbook pages as well. It has been great reading through all that she meant to others and how she impacted others' lives. The Scottish Band (that she was a part of) came and played some songs in her honor. As always, they played beautifully and it was a great way to honor her.

Later in June, we were all able to travel to San Francisco to bury our mother in the family grave. Tracy's parents (Jeanne and Sus), Tracy's brother (David Narita and family), and Tracy's kids (Daniel & family, Charis & Dan) were able to spend time together and celebrate Tracy's life.

We want to say a huge thank you to everyone who contributed to the memorial fund! The fund was able to pay for Tracy's kids to go to San Francisco, her burial, and for most of the Celebration of Life. We are so grateful! (You hopefully have received a note from me already, but we truly cannot thank you enough!)

I've attached a few pictures from the Celebration of Life and San Francisco trip.

I cannot believe it has been almost six months already. We miss her daily. I cannot imagine how we can continue living our lives without her. As some of you may know, Tracy's first granddaughter is due in October. For me, this has been very bittersweet knowing that my daughter will not have her Grandma around to love on her and teach her. We are very glad that Mom was able to know and pray over this little girl. We can only hope to teach her how to be a light for God and love others as much as our mom did!

I think that this is the best way to honor our mother going forward - show God's love to others and be a light!

Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven. Matthew 5:16
