Journal entry by Tori Holmes

It’s been a couple days since I got home, and it’s been wonderful to be able to hold JJ and get hugs from Lucas in real life instead of on FaceTime. I tell Steve that sometimes I feel like I don’t fit in, but I imagine it’s just having to get with the flow of the new home schedule compared to the hospital one where I had someone taking my blood or giving meds or measuring my vitals for what seemed like every hour of the day. They kids are also getting used to having to be gentle when I’m sitting down, and careful when I’m in the wheelchair or walker, and that’s been difficult for everyone. It’s hard to take care of the kids with all the things they needs, like cooking them lunch or changing diapers because I can only stand for a couple minutes of time without support. I’m so grateful that my husband and my mom are doing everything that the kids and I both need. I wouldn’t be able to be home without them. I do get a little upset with myself that my legs are not back to normal but it will just take more time, like they keep telling me. I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday, and we are all looking forward to 2021 being a healthy, happy, and joyous year, because we could all use a redo. Cheers!
